Bingwa Geng: China's new hope for the Olympics??

Actually, I think it says March 1, 1994.
Nope, the ISU birthdate is DD-MM-YYYY. Bingwa Geng was "officially" born on January 3, 1994 (but a Chinese article earlier this year says she "becomes 13 in March"
) so as has been aforementioned, she is neither the youngest or tiniest thing in this event. Actually, I'm quite concerned how "big-sized" she looked compared to all those baby ballerinas.

Ok, that remark wasn't funny.
But I have to admit it seems somehow unfair that they cheat her age. Perhaps the USFSA should have tried this for the next worlds. There must be a possibility to prove the age - I know that you can determine the age pretty accurately with x-rays etc., but then again there are always individuals who have "young" bones, and the Federations will just say that this particular girl is a case of "young" bones. They should just be honest about it.
It seems especially sad for the under-age American girls who can't go to the Worlds. Not only can they not participate in this world, but because it's left up to others who have been skating worse, they will have a much tougher time making it to the next World's as well.
I have a friend from Turkey who competed in Tae Kwan Do, and his federation changed his age to a year younger so that he would be able to participate in some international competition -- they went to the court and had it legalized and everything. Now this is what it says on his passport and birth certificate.
I think if there was the technology to verify a person's age, and it was used in the various sports, then I think we might all be surprised at how frequently this happens in many different sports.
