I feel sad that he's gone, because he was such a big part of russian history.

I have different feelings towards his presidency for two reasons.
Bad feeling because of the Chechen war and because he lead Russia to bankruptcy impoverishing a lot of people. On the other hand I have a good feeling because he tried to bring democracy and he was the only European leader who cared for Serbia. Unfortunately he wasn't that strong to persuade NATO not to bomb Serbia and Montenegro. My family has friends in Beograd, Novi Sad and Leskovac (Serbian capital and other two cities) and we feared for them. I hoped that he could persuade USA and Euro leaders not to bomb Serbia. At least he tried.

All I can add is that I think he was a good man who unfortunately was too weak and unraveled when it mattered most.
