Boyang Jin

I think Boyang's current problem is losing his carefree mindset of not concerning himself with competition results. Having made a big splash in his Senior debut season, with a Worlds medal no less, he is now the focus of attention and high hope of his country. The expectation he never had for himself and the pressure from all directions may be getting to him. It was a great attitude and mental asset he had which was rare and precious but is hard to maintain once he's achieved instant and tremendous success and is in the spotlight.

Han Yan too has been thinking too much, detrimentally during competition in particular. I hope they both find a way to a calm mind to show us what they are really capable of.

He has improved in his overall skating skills, and I imagine integrating his amazing jumps and more intricate choreography all together is really difficult. He gave it 120% at Skate America, and I can't wait to see him again this weekend. Go Jin! Believe in yourself and trust your training -- and don't "overthink" things. (I know, that's easy to say and a lot harder to do).

All the best to Boyang this weekend at Cup of China! Go Spidey!!!

You can do it!!

I have just finished reading comments from those watching 'live' from SA in this thread - thank you so much for posting! Great to know that 'live' he was performing really well and the audience 'ate up all that choreography' like some said here. From watching on a TV screen, I thought there were difficult transition into jumps, different edges in the footwork and broader upper body movements. Hopefully, he's had time to concerntrate on 'jumps' in between these 2 competitions now that he has had the choreography out in the open and the pressure lifted after that first public performance.

Go Boyang!!

Go Boyang!!

You could see immediately that he was not the same skater he was at Worlds. He had definitely been working hard on improving things other than jumps. I thought his spins looked better too. On Day 1 of practices, I was a little alarmed when I realized he wasn't doing his jumps and was hoping he wasn't injured. Looking back now though, I realize most of the guys were sort of getting the "feel" for the ice that first day. Go Spider-Man! :)

Go Boyang!!! I absolutely loved his Spiderman program  I hope he does great in the free skate as well!

Very happy for him!:agree:
If he brought back the difficult choreography from the Skate America SP this program would be even better and surely score in the 100s when skated cleanly.

Boyang's COC SP was a WOW. It's one of those in the zone performances from start to finish like it was one breath. The energy flew and pulled the audience in for the ride and what a ride! He gave them what they came for.

It is harder to sustain this kind of energy and flow in the LP but as long as Boyang stays in this space and lands all his jumps, his scores will be sky high.

He really sold that SP 120% and looked like he was having a lot of fun out there. The audience was eating it up...Can't even imagine the collection of Plush Toy Spiderman's he will have by the end of the season! :)

Boyangman prevails! :cheer: I'm glad he was able to perform this program better than at SA. I live for that Spider-Shimmy

Did Boyang really say that? Well, good on him!!

The British Euro guys thought Boyang's score should have hit the 100s, I thought so too! Nevermind Boyang, do it at the next competition!!

I love everything about this program, down to the costume. I thought the costume was great, not over-the-top, just enough to make a statement. Anything more would be too literal. This 'Spiderman' music is such a 'breath of fresh air' in the midst of a group of overused classical melancholy pieces. So liberating!! Those 'Shimmying' is totally out of this world!! And Boyang does it with such charm and ease, looks so natural on him.

Oh! Spidey, you warm my heart today. Never have I so enjoyed a program. Just fab!!

All the best in the LP tomorrow, Boyang!! You have made us a bunch of very happy fans!!

Jin has just delivered an almost clean FP!
It is a pity that wasn't enough to allow him to grab the GPF qualification!

Thought Jin Boyang should have won overall but some of the Chinese fans on baidu who were there keep telling me that Patrick was really beautiful and Boyangman had too much to overcome, not feeling too much like arguing. Either way complaining and arguing won't change results.

"Thank you everyone, since came back from America trained fiercely, these past few days I have trained until I nearly spit blood, but I still have a lot of regrets~ failure is failure, shows that I am not strong enough. I will work harder for the next competition. Also also, tomorrow night there will be a live broadcast [of the exhibition]"

Other skaters get home inflation plus sometimes inflation on foreign soil.

Boyang not only doesn't get home inflation, he doesn't even get scored fairly, instead he gets lowballed. :curse:

Should have won.
