Boyang Jin

Same here, for me he is the winner of this competition. :hap93:

Yup. That was a really good performance. Awesome 4lz. He really should have won. That should help his confidence heading to Helsinki.

Jin's remarks from Japan Times...

But Jin’s mistakes on his quad toeloop and triple flip late on, coupled with a lower element score, saw Uno take the title.

Jin, who generally made fewer errors, said Uno’s mistakes were not significant.

“His mistakes weren’t that costly and I made mistakes of my own,” Jin said.

“Brilliance from a competitor gives me courage and something to strive for in training.”

This is what makes me happiest, he landed a great 4Lz - big, with good landing. His jumps are still his trump card, he needs to learn to land them in a way that forces the judges to give him those +GOE. 2 4Lzs like this LP one at WC please Boyang!

In recent interview, Boyang told that he may not change Spiderman next season.
So hopefully we will see spidey for another year and a new FS program!

It's not a bad idea. Gives him another year to master choreography and such.

I'm still baffled how Uno's TES (as much as I like him) was still over 100 with the number of mess that was unfolding in his FS. :disapp:

Well, that scoring (:noshake:) on top of what already transpired in the SP sealed the deal. Also disagree with people citing natural home advantage as a good reason to let things slide/ call for people to stop complaining. I can see home advantage being something if it shows up in things like PE, IN - but that should have no bearings on GOE. Also, some of these judges came straight from 4CC. They're ISU certified and judging everywhere else. Saying that AWG isn't ISU-certified and is therefore irrelevant... :slink:

Ah that's excellent news about the SP! I am so glad. :hap10:

AWG may have been a travesty, but it's unfortunately a good lesson for him. Even if he completely polishes up his FS, he still probably won't be getting the GOEs he deserves but it will still be pure BV points plus whatever else he can eek out from the judges. Those are points in the bag, no matter what happens with the rest.

And that giant theft from AWG won't repeat, at least not in such a huge, blatant way anyway because there are bigger fish there who would never allow it because they would also be affected, so overall, Worlds should be better for him, if he can just skate clean.

The real reason he really wants to keep the Spiderman SP. Not enough Spiderman toys yet
Let's pretend that we don't know:laugh: Just give him more!

He knew this! Our good boy said is he himself gave Uno change to win. If he have handled that 4S, he can still win the game.
Go Spidey! Go Boyang!

Didn't know it wasn't ISU approved. Still doesn't make it seem less wrong. :slink:

Can someone here tell me what the repercussion is if a skater has two solo non axel jumps in the SP? Is there further deduction to the jump which does not have a combination latched on? I'm trying to wonder how much Shoma might have got for his solo jump which was supposed to be a combo. I'm guessing he lost far more than just the 3T value and negative GOE that people seem to allude on youtube. :scratch2:

The jump is marked +COMBO in the protocols (failed/downgraded Short Program combination jump), which reduces the base value of the jump to 80% of normal.

(So says Wikipedia, I can't actually find where it is defined in the ISU documentation. I would expect it to be in the tech panel handbook, because the equivalent for the Free Skate (+REP 70%) is listed there... but the penalty for +COMBO is not shown there. I don't see it in "ISU Communication 2000" either, the list of scales of values, guidelines for levels GoE etc.
