I really like Camden's skating and wish him the best of luck, but New York is really not an easy place to make skating work, even on a non-competitive level. Chelsea Piers is very expensive and commuting to any of the NJ rinks from Columbia regularly is going to be tough transportation and time-wise (the toll for the bridge/tunnels is $16 one way, and if Hackensack is the aim, there's really no good public transportation option there.) City Ice in Long Island City could be an option, but it's also quite a hike from Columbia.
