The Personal Best and Season Best scores that the ISU uses for a skater only take into consideration certain competitions. For example, they do not take into consideration domestic competitions, such as Sectional, Regional or National Championships.

The table below takes into consideration all the events that the skater has taken part in. These scores are referred to as “Absolute Personal Best” and “Absolute Season’s Best” so as to distinguish them from the scores recorded by the ISU.

Absolute Personal Best Score
Absolute Season’s Best Score

The Absolute designations are based purely on the contents of the Competitive History table in this post. If anybody knows of any scores that are not in the table, please let us know, and we will be only too happy to add them in.

Chiara finished 14th out of 35 in the SP, with a score of 45.73.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

I agree with Mark, I didn't recognise her either with the new hair colour!

Well, there were a couple of grey squares, but at least there were no red squares.

Of course, Yu-Jae going just before her set a very high bar. But, it was a good skate. And I hope she realises that.

Into 10th position, sandwiched between two other skaters that I like. She is just 0.13 points below Olivia LENGYELOVA (SVK), and 2.09 points ahead of Zhasmin SHLAGA (KGZ).

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

The opening Double Axel was beautiful, and got the highest GOE of the programme at +0.24. But, the Judges were not as impressed as I expected, with three giving 0; five giving +1; and only Judge 3 giving +2.

The combination that she did next, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, was the biggest problem. Or, more specifically, the Triple Flip was. Maybe the fog was affecting my view, but I didn't see anything wrong with it myself. However, the protocols say that the Flip didn't have a clear edge and was landed on the quarter. And, as a result, it got the worst Judges marks of the programme: two -4's; five -3's; and two -2's. Fortunately, this combination also had the highest Base Value, so even with GOE of -1.59 (the biggest GOE loss of the programme), it actually ended up as the second highest scoring element, with a score of 5.01 points!

She also landed on the quarter on her fourth element, the Triple Lutz. This produced Judges marks of seven -2's; and two -1's. It also got the second costliest GOE at -1.10. However, because of the high Base Value, this ended up as her highest scoring element, with a score of 5.39 points! And she got extra credit for it being in the second half of the programme.

Everything else looked fine. But, I have to question the marks for the final element, the Layback Spin. It looked good to me. But, I have to wonder what the first two Judges were seeing. Judge 1 gave it -2; while Judge 2 gave it -1. Was the fog affecting the view from where they were sitting? The other Judges gave it five 0's; and two +1's. And it got neutral GOE.

All in all, it looked like a good skate to me.

Chiara is currently in the middle of a very tight group of 3 skaters covered by 0.37 points. She is 0.13 points behind 13th position, Olivia LENGYELOVA (SVK), and 0.24 points ahead of 14th position, Eve DUBECQ (FRA). The three of them are also part of a larger group of 9 skaters covered by 7.08 points, stretching from Nataly LANGERBAUR (EST) in 11th position, 3.56 points ahead of Chiara, to Yekaterina BALYUBA (KAZ) in 19th position, 3.52 points behind Chiara.

In a group this large, anything can happen. There is a good chance that Chiara could climb right up to the brink of the Top 10. There is even a chance of getting 10th position, as Anastasia BRANDENBURG (CHE) is 6.99 points ahead of her. However, there is also a good chance that Chiara could drop towards the bottom of the Top 20. Or even into 20th position, as Julia Sylvia GUNNARSDÓTTIR (ISL) is 5.74 points behind her.

So, Chiara will have to put in a good Free Skate if she wants to make sure that she goes up.

One thing that could cause problems is that the ISU in their wisdom (!) have got rid of the sensible method of having the FS starting order being the reverse order of the SP results, and have instead brought back having random orders within each group. :palmf: :bang: As a result, instead of being the penultimate skater to go in her group, Chiara is actually the first skater to go. So when she skates, she will not have the benefit of knowing how the skaters that were behind her after the SP have done. And when you are in a large close group, every little bit of knowledge helps.

In short, she is going in blind, and will have to just go all out.

I am not familiar with the music Chiara is skating to for her Free Skate. But, hopefully it has produced a programme that will serve her well in this task.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 16:00:00 TRT (13:00:00 GMT / 14:00:00 BST / 16:00:00 EEST). So 8 hours from now.

Chiara will be the 18th skater to start. So, first skater in Group 4.

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 18:33:30 TRT (15:33:30 GMT / 16:33:30 BST / 18:33:30 EEST). So 10h 33m from now.

Chiara is due to start at 18:40:00 18:33:30 TRT (15:40:00 GMT / 16:40:00 BST / 18:40:00 EEST). So 10h 40m from now.

Chiara finished 16th out of 34 in the FS, with a score of 70.29. This meant that she dropped to 16th place overall, with a score of 116.02.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch the Free Skate LIVE. But, here are some thoughts I had when I watched it back.

I was not familiar with the “Broken Wings” soundtrack coming into watching this. But, from hearing those few minutes worth, it must be epic! I absolutely loved the music!!! That said, I wish that the middle of the programme didn't have vocals. They really spoiled that part of the programme. If the vocals had been removed and the music had remained instrumental for the duration of the programme, it would have been really epic!

Unfortunately, Chiara had lots of problems and made lots of mistakes. Particularly in the landing of her jumps. The jumps themselves were impressive, but the landings were not great.

It was like this right from the start. She opened with a Triple Lutz-Double Toe combination. The Double Toe went fine, but the Lutz was landed on the quarter. It got -2 from all the Judges except for Judge 9, who gave it -1. It also got a big minus GOE of -1.18. But, because it had the highest Base Value, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme.

The theme continued with the second element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe combination. Again the Double Toe was fine, but not only was the Flip landed on the quarter, but it didn't have a clear edge. Unsurprisingly, the Judges marks were worse, with -4 from Judge 2; five -3's; two -2's; and 0 from Judge 8. And so was the GOE, which was -1.44. Fortunately, having the second highest Base Value meant that it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme.

The third element was yet another combination, this time a Double Axel-Halfloop-Triple Salchow. According to the protocols, the first jump was fine, while both of the other two jumps were downgraded. However, when I watched it, it was hard to even make out that there was a jump in the middle! It looked like a Double Axel with a long drawn-out messy landing, followed by a Triple Salchow with a shorter but messier landing. And, to be honest, I was kinda surprised that she didn't fall at the end of it. As you would expect, this got the worst Judges marks, with all of them giving -5 except for Judge 4, who gave it -4. It also got the second biggest minus GOE of -1.65.

To compound matters, she then singled out her Axel. To be honest, I thought it looked fine. And I liked the way she went straight into the next element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, from it. It looked very good! And although she didn't get much height to it, the Double Lutz that followed looked good too.

Then came the seventh element, the Triple Flip. Although she didn't fall, it was a disasterous landing. And it was under-rotated. I was kinda surprised when I looked at the Protocols and saw that it didn't get the worst Judges marks. It got eight -5's, and two -2's. But I was not surprised that the GOE hit was the biggest of the programme, at -2.06. That was nearly half of the Base Value!

The remaining elements went relatively smoothly. Although Mark Hanretty in commentary did point out afterwards that you could see that she was tiring.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 4.80 points behind 15th position, Eve DUBECQ (FRA), and 0.08 points ahead of 17th position, Julia Sylvia GUNNARSDÓTTIR (ISL). She is at the top of a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.07 points, which is completed by Zhasmin SHLAGA (KGZ).

Overall, Chiara finished 4.49 points behind 15th position, Meda VARIAKOJYTE (LTU), and 3.16 points ahead of 17th position, Shlaga. Each skater either side of Chiara was part of a very close pairing of skaters. Variakojyte was 0.07 points behind Dubecq in 14th position; while Shlaga was 0.51 points ahead of Olivia LENGYELOVA (SVK) in 18th position.

I said after the Short that when you have a large group, anything can happen. And that is exactly what did happen. Who would have predicted that the skater who was 6.62 points and 5 poisitions off the back of the group in 25th after the Short, Variakojyte, would be 11th in the Free, and would end up finishing in 15th position?!

Although Chiara made mistakes, and lost 2 positions, I have high hopes for this Free Skate. When it is done clean, it is going to be absolutely epic! And she could well cause a few shocks in the competitions ahead.

Such a pity that Chiara doesn't have a second Junior GP assignment. But, if past seasons are anything to go by, she and wee sister Vayana will be popping up at lots of events in the months ahead. And hopefully Chiara will be able to do enough to get selected for some of the Majors in the second half of the season.

Chiara finished 6th out of 22 in the SP, with a score of 49.03.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Forgot she had gone blonde! :slink:

First jump was beautiful.

Not sure how the combination that she did next went because she was in the fog.

The combination spins looked beautiful.

She nearly went round too many times on the third jump.

What I could see after that looked good.

Stream started buffering 2m 24s into the programme, and came back just as the music finished at 2m 51s.

Ah, I forgot the FFSG events had these detailed graphics that tell you how each element went. And she got a 1 point deduction for a time violation.

She goes into 5th with a score of 49.03. New ISU Season's Best score for the SP.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Looking at the Protocols, we didn't seem to miss anything major happening.

The only major thing was that jump that I mentioned. It was the Triple Lutz, and it was called for not having a clear edge. it got -2 from three Judges; -1 from two Judges; and 0 from Judge 3. it also got the only minus GOE of the programme, at -0.89.

Chiara is currently is 0.21 points behind 5th position, Eve DUBECQ (FRA), and 1.84 points ahead of 7th position, Giulia BARUCCHI (ITA). Chiara is the bottom skater in a larger group of 6 skaters covered by 3.93 points, stretching up to Iida KARHUNEN (FIN) in 1st position.

Honestly, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Chiara could win this. Or at least get onto the podium. But to make it possible, she will have to put in a good Free Skate and hope that the others don't skate as well as she does. And she will also need to wary of Barucchi coming from behind (the skaters behind Barucchi are probably too far back).

So, let's hope that she does have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start today at 16:45:00 CEST (14:45:00 GMT / 15:45:00 BST / 17:45:00 EEST). So 8 hours from now.

Chiara will be the 17th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 4.

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:11:30 CEST (17:11:30 GMT / 18:11:30 BST / 20:11:30 EEST). So 10h 26m from now.

Chiara is due to start at 19:18:00 CEST (17:18:00 GMT / 18:18:00 BST / 20:18:00 EEST). So 10h 33m from now.

Chiara finished 7th out of 22 in the FS, with a score of 94.48. This meant that she remained in 6th position overall, with a score of 143.51.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Lovely combination to start off with. And it continued that way with the next jump.

Maybe a bit too much of a gap between the two parts of the second combination she did. But the jumps themseles were good.

And that was the only slight thing I could pick out as maybe being an issue. Because everything else looked faultless.

You know, Chiara may have just put herself into contention for a podium position, and maybe even the win. It will all depend on how the remaining skaters in this group get on.

2nd in the FS, but into the overall lead.

And like yesterday, her FS score is marked as an ISU Season's Best. But, it is also a new ISU Personal Best.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Looking at the Protocols, I'm stupid. You know that second combination I was talking about, where I said there was a bit too much of a gap between the two parts. Well, I didn't notice, but there was a halfloop in the middle! It was actually a Double Axel-Halfloop-Double Salchow. And it got 0 from Judge 5; and +1 from the other five Judges. It also got GOE of +0.33.

The only real problem Chiara had was that her two Triple Lutzes didn't have clear edges. And these were the only elements that got any minuses. The Triple Lutz-Double Toe combination that she opened with got -1 from three Judges; 0 from Judge 3; and +1 from two Judges. It also got GOE of -0.15. The Tripel Lutz that she did on it's own as her 6th element got -1 from three Judges; 0 from two Judges; and +1 from Judge 5. It also got GOE of -0.30.

Apart from that, the Protocols looked good.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 0.05 points behind 6th position, Fée Ann LANDRY (CAN), and 5.56 points ahead of 8th position, Amanda GHEZZO (ITA). Chiara is at the bottom of a group of 5 skaters covered by 0.62 points which stretches up to 3rd position, Leandra TZIMPOUKAKIS (CHE).

Overall, Chiara finished 0.35 points behind 5th position, Eve DUBECQ (FRA), and 5.49 points ahead of 7th position, WENG Sadie Shen (TPE). Chiara is at the bottom of a group of 4 skaters covered by 2.10 points which stretches up to 3rd position,Tzimpoukakis.

After her Junior Grand Prix, I commented that "I have high hopes for this Free Skate. When it is done clean, it is going to be absolutely epic! And she could well cause a few shocks in the competitions ahead." Well, I think she confirmed it here. She could very easily have been in the Top 3 of both the FS and overall.

Which bodes well for the next time we see her.

With Vayana being in action in the Denkova-Staviski Cup over the past couple of days, it will not come as a surprise that Chiara is also competing in her home event.

Chiara finished 1st out of 37 in the SP, with a score of 56.82.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread before she did her programme:

Typical! All the jumps Chiara did during the Warm-Up were out of camera shot! Well, two of them started just in camera shot, but the landings were out.

You know, I'm glad now that she dyed her hair, because in this group where lots of skaters were wearing black jackets or dresses, it made her easier to spot. All the other skaters have dark hair!

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote after she finished:

Lovely jump to start with.

And so was the combination jump that she did next. And the combination spin.

Wasn't sure if she was going to land the next jump. But she did manage to land it.

Everything after that was lovely too.

That was really good. I can't complain about anything.

And she goes into quite a large lead. 7.80 points ahead of fellow Bulgarian (but from a different club) Lia LYUBENOVA.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Looking at the protocols, there was only one element that had any minuses. And that was the jump where I said I was not sure whether she would land it or not. The Triple Lutz didn't have a clear edge. Two Judges gave it -2; Judge 5 gave it -1; Judge 3 gave it 0; and Judge 2 gave it +2. It also got GOE of -0.59.

Apart from this element, the Judges marks were a few +1's, but mostly +2's and +3's.

Chiara is currently is 3.00 points ahead of 2nd position, Taisiia SPESIVTSEVA (UKR), and 7.80 points ahead of 3rd position, Lia LYUBENOVA (BUL).

I don't want to count my chickens, but Chiara has pretty good advantages over the skaters behind her. With a good Free Skate, she will probably get over the line without having to worry about how the others get on.

So, let's hope that she has a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start tomorrow at 09:00:00 EET (07:00:00 GMT). So 10 hours from now.

Chiara will be the 37th skater to start. So, sixth and last skater to go in Group 7 (and last skater to go in the segment).

The Group 7 Warm-Up is due to start at 13:44:30 EET (11:44:30 GMT). So 14h 44m from now.

Chiara is due to start at 14:23:30 EET (12:23:30 GMT). So 15h 23m from now.

Chiara finished 2nd out of 36 in the FS, with a score of 96.56. This meant that she remained in 1st position overall, with a score of 153.38.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread before she did her programme:

Didn't see much of what happened during the Warm-Up, because I had only just got caught up. But, I hope it went well for my kid.

Right, now for the moment of truth. Will Chiara extend her run of success at her home international event to 5 wins in a row, and 6 wins altogether?

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Yeah, I had my suspicions yesterday, but seeing her today, she's definitely growing the dyed hair out.

Opening combination jump beautiful. And the next two jumps that she did on their own.

Not a great landing on the first part of the combination jump she did next.

But no problems with the combination spin.

Next jump looked effortless too.

But fall on the next jump.

Made up for it with the combination she did next.

No more problems for the rest of the programme. Although, she was visibly tiring towards the end.

Given that she had nearly a 10 point lead over Petracchi in the SP, I think Chiara will have this even with the mistakes.

2nd in the FS, and 1st overall.

FIVE WINS IN A ROW, AND SIX WINS ALTOGETHER!!!

Looking at the Protocols, there were only three elements that had any negativce numbers next to them. The first was the Triple Flip that she fell on. Inevitably, it got -5 from all the Judges, and also got the biggest GOE hit of the programme at -2.65.

But, the combination that she did afterwards that I thought was good, the Double Flip-Double Toe, also had issues. The Double Toe was called as an invalid element, presumably because she had already done it as part of her opening combination, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe. I guess her mind got flustered from having the fall. That said, only Judge 2 gave it a negative mark, -2. Judge 4 gave it 0; two Judges gave it +1; and Judge 1 gave it +2. It also got positive GOE, at +0.12. But, because the Base Value was dropped with the invalidation, it ended up as the element with the lowest score.

The other element that got negative numbers was the final element she did, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin. That said, it wasn't all that bad. It got -1 from two Judges; Judge 5 agave it 0; Judge 2 gave it +1; and Judge 2 gave it +2. It also got neutral GOE. Personally, I couldn't see anything wrong with it. So, I can only conclude that it was the fact that the music ended just as Chiara was starting the final spin in the combination. But, she wasn't over by much.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 1.25 points behind 1st position, Matilde PETRACCHI (ITA), and 0.54 points ahead of 3rd position, Lia LYUBENOVA (BUL). The three of them form a group where 3 skaters are covered by 1.79 points.

Overall, Chiara finished 7.61 points ahead of 2nd position, Petracchi, and 8.34 points ahead of 3rd position, Lyubenova. Petracchi and Lyubenova are the first 2 skaters in a group of 3 skaters covered by 2.10 points, which is completed by Taisiia SPESIVTSEVA (UKR) in 4th position, 9.71 points behind Chiara.

That is some record. Winning a 🥇 Gold Medal at the Denkova-Staviski Cup five times in a row, and winning six altogether. In a way, it's a shame about 2016 breaking what would have been a continuous run, but it was her first season at a new level (Cubs). So, you can't be critical of that.

Incidentally, of the four skaters that finished ahead of Chiara in that Cubs competition in 2016, two of them were up against Chiara in Juniors this year. 🥇 Gold Medallist Selin AKBULUT (TUR) finished in 10th position, 40.41 points behind Chiara, while 🥈 Silver Medallist Teodora Maria GHEORGHE (ROU) finished in 31st position, 78.70 points behind Chiara.

10 years ago, Chiara made her first appearance at the Denkova-Staviski Cup, and finished 17th out of 18. Since then, she has made the event her own. It just shows how far she has come in that time.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, three of the girls that finished ahead of Chiara in the 2013 Chicks competition were entered in Juniors this year. :third place: Bronze Medallist Ruxandra Sabina ROTUNDU (ROU) was due to be the last to skate in the SP, but was a withdrawal. The two that did skate have already been mentioned in relation to their 2016 results. Akbulut finished 9th in 2013, while Gheorghe finished in 14th.

I don't know if Chiara has any more events before Nationals. But, this result should give her a boost going into them.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

Chiara finished 6th out of 29 in the SP, with a score of 48.92.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the end of the Warm-Up:

We had a bit of drama involving Chiara at the start of the Warm-Up.

Her coach, former Ice Dancer Ina Demireva, was standing right beside the camera. When the skaters were called for their Warm-Up, Chiara went onto the ice, set her skate guards onto the top of the boards, and went off to do her warm-up. But, when Ina tried to lift them, one of them fell onto the ice. She looked very sheepish, and had to reach out of the gate and pick it up. And while she was doing it, SelmaSiri LARSEN (DEN) went past her head at speed. It was scary!

And with writing all that up, I missed what actually happened during the Warm-Up! :drama:

But, Chiara is coming on now, so we'll see now what form she is in.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Yep, she's working back towards her natural hair colour.

First jump, the Double Axel, was beautiful. One person applauded.

Combination jump was beautiful too, as was the combination spin that followed.

Next jump, the Triple Lutz, beautiful too, and straight into a lovely sit spin.

Ach, the whole programme was beautiful. She is definitely carrying on her form from the Denkova-Staviski Cup.

Chiara and Ina were joking about something during the highlights. But afterwards they looked very serious.

Into the lead with a score of 48.92.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Looking at the Protocols, there are not actually many minus numbers on it. The only element that had any issues was the second element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe. The Triple Flip didn't have a clear edge. It goe -2 from Judge 1; -1 from Judge 5; and 0 from the other three Judges. It also got the only negative GOE of the programme, at -0.18. But, despite this, because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it was the second highest scoring element of the programme.

Only two other elements had any minuses, and in each case it was just -1 from one Judge. The first of these -1's was from Judge for the Triple Lutz. It also got three +1's; and +2 from Judge 2. The irony is that it got the highest GOE of the programme, at +0.59. And because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it was the highest scoring element of the programme.

The other -1 came from Judge 2 for the following element, Flying Sit Spin. It also got two 0's; +1 from Judge 1; and +2 from Judge 3. And it got GOE of +0.10.

Chiara is currently 1.81 points behind 5th position, Lotta ARTIMO (FIN), and 0.67 points ahead of 7th position, Leona GEBARA (SWE). All three of them are part of a larger group of 9 skaters covered by 6.72 points, stretching from Nataly LANGERBAUR (EST) in 2nd position, 4.09 points ahead of Chiara, to Iida KARHUNEN (FIN) in 10th position, 2.63 points behind Chiara.

Although the Gold Medal is probably out of reach, the other podium positions are within reach. A good Free Skate could put Chiara in contention for a medal. However, it is also tight behind her, so there is also the possibility of dropping positions if things do not go her way.

If Chiara makes too many mistakes, there is even the possibility of dropping way down the order, because the skater in 11th position, Sabina ALIEVA (AZE), is just 4.66 points behind Chiara. Alieva is at the head of a group of 7 skaters covered by just 2.96 points stretching down to Elizabeth NOU (EST) in 17th position, 7.62 points behind Chiara.

In short, Chiara needs to have a good FS if she wants to move up the results table, and to make sure she avoids the possibility of getting eaten up by the group behind her own group.

So, let's hope she does have a good FS.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 16:05:00 EET (14:05:00 GMT). So 7 hours from now.

Chiara will be the 24th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 5 (and first skater to go after the last resurfacing).

The Group 5 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:32:25 EET (17:32:25 GMT). So 10h 27m from now.

Chiara is due to start at 19:38:55 EET (17:38:55 GMT). So 10h 33m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Chiara finished 12th out of 29 in the FS, with a score of 83.21. This meant that she dropped to 11th position overall, with a score of 132.13.

Unfortunately, I was eating at the time Chiara was skating. And the Tallinn Trophy was being broadcast on a channel that takes the streams private as soon as the broadcast ends. So, with Chiara in the final group of the day, I was racing against time to get back and get her watched before the stream disappeared.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread about the Warm-Up:

Well, they didn't go out onto the ice in order anyway, because Chiara is first to skate but was last to go through the gate. And the camera cut away just as she was coming around to give her skate guards to Ina. They didn't want any embarassing moments like yesterday!

Erm, I saw Chiara setting up lots of jumps, but they were all done out of camera shot!

There was one that would have been in shot, but she changed her mind at the last moment and didn't do it.

Right, here she is.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CHIARA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Lovely combination to start with.

Wasn't sure she was going to land the Triple Toe but she did.

Actually, felt same about the Triple Salchow .

Two Double Axels in sequence, not great landing on second one.

Combo spin good.

Hand down on Triple Lutz.

Didn't land straight enough on first part of combo, which carried through to the next part and she ended up nearly falling at the end.

Triple Flip lovely.

Rest good.

Didn't look too happy after she finished.

Stream cut out during the highlights. So didn't see her reaction to her scores.

But, I've just worked out that she went into 8th in the FS, and 6th overall.

Now I understand why she wasn't happy looking.

But, I'm sure it'll go better next time.

CaroLiza_fan

I know nothing!

Looking at the Protocols, they are not pretty at all. She had four jumps that were under-rotated. Both of her Triple Flips were not just under-rotated, but were landed on the wrong edge as well. And she had two jumps that were landed on the quarter.

Her first two elements were the only jumping elements that did not get any minus numbers next to them. The opening combination, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, got 0 from two Judges; and +2 from the other three Judges. It also got the highest GOE of the programme at +0.79, and because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it was the highet scoring element of the programme.

The Triple Toe that she did next got 0 from two Judges; and +1 from three Judges. It got GOE of +0.28.

But after that, she didn't get a single positive number beside any of her jumping elements.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 1.71 points behind 11th position, Lotta ARTIMO (FIN), and 0.41 points ahead of 13th position, Olesja LEONOVA (EST). The three of them are part of a group where 5 skaters are covered by 3.74 points, stretching from Leona GEBARA (SWE) in 10th position, 1.77 points ahead of Chiara, to Anna IUSHCHENKOVA (ISR) in 14th position, 1.97 points behind Chiara.

Overall, Chiara finished 1.10 points behind 10th position, Gebara, and 0.87 points ahead of 12th position, Nikola FOMCHENKOVA (LAT). The three of them are part of a group where 7 skaters are covered by 3.14 points, stretching from Iushchenkova in 8th position, 1.69 points ahead of Chiara, to Leonova in 14th position, 1.45 points behind Chiara.

After the highs of the Denkova-Staviski cup, this Free Skate brought Chiara crashing back down to Earth with a bang.

I'm not sure when Chiara is in action again, but whenever it is, I'm sure things will go a lot better than they did in Tallinn.

After Vayana started off her first competition of 2024 at Skate Helena in Belgrade yesterday, it is the turn of Chiara to do the same today.

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start today at 07:45:00 CET (06:45:00 GMT / 08:45:00 EET). So 1 hour from now.

Chiara will be the 41st skater to start. So, sixth and last skater to go in Group 7 (and last skater to go in the segment).

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Time Schedule PDF's don't work.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Skate Helena Junior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Chiara finished 5th out of 36 in the SP, with a score of 45.01.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch Skate Helena.

Looking at the Protocols, Chiara's main issue was that she fell on the second element. It was supposed to be a Triple Flip done in combination, but because of the fall she was not able to attach the second jump. Unsurprisingly, she got -5 from all the Judges; and -2.65 in GOE. This took it from being the element with the second highest Base Value, to being the second lowest scoring element of the programme.

The only other element that had any minuses was the final element, the Camel Spin. It got -2 from Judge 2; -1 from three Judges; and 0 from Judge 5. It also got -0.14 in GOE and, because it had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme.

Everything else had all neutral or positive numbers. The opening element, the Double Axel, got the best Judges marks, with three +1's; and two +2's. It also got the second highest GOE of the programme at +0.44, which made it the third highest scoring element of the programme.

She rebounded from the fall with the third element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, which got +1 from all the Judges. It also got the third highest GOE of the programme at +0.35 and, because it had the third highest Base Value of the programme, this made it the scond highest scoring element of the programme.

This was followed by a Triple Lutz. It got 0 from Judge 4; +1 from two Judges; and +2 from two Judges. However, it got the highest GOE of the programme at +0.79. And because it had the highest Base Value, this made it the highest scoring element of the programme by far.

Chiara is currently the middle skater of a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.34 points. She is 0.52 points behind 4th position, Elina GOIDINA (EST), and 0.82 points ahead of 6th position, Emilia SOLOUKHIN (NED).

Being realistic, a podium position is unlikely unless some of the Top 3 makes too many mistakes. But, we are in for a great battle for 4th, 5th and 6th positions. Any of the three skaters could finish in any of the three positions.

So Chiara needs to have a good Free Skate to make sure she maintains her 5th position or climbs to 4th position, and doesn't drop to 6th position.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 08:00:00 CET (07:00:00 GMT / 09:00:00 EET). So 1 hour from now.

Chiara will be the 32nd skater to start. So, second skater to go in Group 6.

And that is as much as I can tell you, because the Time Schedule PDF's don't work.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Chiara finished 7th out of 36 in the FS, with a score of 79.69. This meant that she remained in 5th position overall, with a score of 124.70.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch Skate Helena.

Looking at the Protocols, Chiara had issues with three elements.

Her opening element, the Triple Lutz-Double Toe, was actually the best of the programme. It got 0 from Judge 4; +1 from two Judges; and +2 from two Judges. It also got the highest GOE of the programme at +0.79. ANd because it had by far the highest Base Value, it was by far the highest scoring element of the programme.

The next two elements didn't go quite as well. The Protocols don't indicate what went wrong with the second element, the Triple Loop. It got -3 from two Judges; -2 from Judge 4; and -1 from two Judges. It also got the third biggest GOE hit of the programme at -0.98.

I do know what happened with the third element, the Triple Salchow. She landed on the quarter, but fell. Consequently, it got -5 from all five Judges. It also got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.15.

The other element that had issues was the sixth element, the Triple Lutz. I don't know what happened, but the Judges gave it two -4's; and three -3's. It also got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.97.

The element before this, the Change Foot Combination Spin got +1 from all five Judges. It also got the second highest GOE of the programme, at +0.35.

Everything else was by and large neutral. Apart from three -1's and three +1's, all the remaining Judges marks were 0. And of these six elements, five of them got 0 in GOE as well. The exception was the final element, the Camel Spin, which got +0.08.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 1.78 points behind 6th position, Krista GEORGIEVA (BUL), and 6.83 points ahead of 8th position, Zala GRUM (SVN).

Overall, Chiara finished 20.70 points behind 4th position, Elina GOIDINA (EST), and 0.78 points ahead of 6th position, Zoja KRAMAR (SVN). Chiara and Zoja were the top two skaters in a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.49 points, which was compelted by Georgieva in 7th position.

It may not have been the best of Free Skates, but she did enough to maintain her position from the SP.

For the fourth time this season (after the Priz Victoria, the Denkova-Staviski Cup, and the Bulgarian Championships), the Hristova sisters are competing at their home rink, the Winter Sports Palace, this week. This time it is for the Sofia Trophy. Whereas Vayana finished her campaign yesterday, finishing 10th overall in Advanced Novices, Chiara will be starting her campaign today.

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start today at 12:00:00 EET (10:00:00 GMT). So 4 hours from now.

MORE TO FOLLOW

Chiara is 0.86 points behind 3rd position, Zoja KRAMAR (SVN), and 2.05 points ahead of 4th position, Elina PLUESS (CHE). Chiara is the bottom skater in a group of 3 skaters covered by 1.26 points, which is headed by Eugenia SEKULOVSKI (CHE).

Chiara is also 4.05 points behind the leader, Lia LYUBENOVA (BUL).

I don't want to tempt fate, but if Chiara puts in a really good Free Skate, she has a shot of winning this. But, 2nd position is probably a more realistic target.

:cheer: WELL DONE CHIARA!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 10:30:00 EET (08:30:00 GMT). So 2 hours from now.

Chiara finished 6th out of 38 in the FS, with a score of 79.81. This meant that she dropped to 5th position overall, with a score of 130.68.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch the Sofia Trophy.

Looking at the protocols, there was a definite pattern to the programme. She had a good opening three elements, and a good closing three elements. It was just the bit in the middle that was the problem.

The programme started well, with no negative numbers appearing next to the first three elements. The third element in particular, the Triple Lutz, got 0 from two Judges; +1 from three Judges. It also got the highest GOE of the programme, at 0.59. And because it had the second highest Base Value, this meant that it became the highest scoring element of the programme.

The problems started with the fourth element, the Double Axel-Double Axel done in sequence. The protocols don't indicate what exactly went wrong, but it got -3 from four Judges; and -2 from Judge 2. It also got the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.99. Nevertheless, because it had the higehst Base Value, it only dropped to being the secind highest scoring element of the programme.

But it was the three jumping elements in the second half of the programme that did the most damage. The sixth element was supposed to be a combination jump, but she fell on the first part, the Triple Lutz, and so couldn't attach another jump into it. And because she had already done a Triple Lutz on it's own, it was called as a repeated element. It was also landed on the quarter. Unsurtpsiningly, it got -5 from all the Judges. It also got the biggest GOE hit of the programme at a massive -2.95, which meant that it became the lowest scoring element of the programme.

Next came the Double Flip-Double Toe-Double Loop combination. The Loop was under-rotated. It got -3 from two Judges; and -2 from three Judges. It also got the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.42. However, because it had the fourth highest Base Value, it actually became the third highest scoring element of the programme.

But then she fell again on the eighth element, the Triple Flip. It didn't have a clear edge, and was landed on the quarter. Again unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all the Judges. It also got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme at -2.65.

The final three elements went well, although there was one anomaly. The penultimate element, the Choreographic sequence, got +1 from four of the Judges, but got -3 from Judge 3. I guess she must have pressed the wrong button by accident. It also got the second highest GOE of the programme, at +0.50.

Chiara finished the Free Skate 3.63 points behind 5th position, Ophélie CLERC (CHE), and 6.83 points ahead of 8th position, Zala GRUM (SVN).

Overall, Chiara finished 0.54 points behind 4th position, Krista GEORGIEVA (BUL), and 1.29 points ahead of 6th position, Clerc.

That middle section of the programme really was costly. Although, being realistic, the Top 3 in the FS were out of reach. So, 4th would have been the best she could have hoped for. And the same goes for the overall positions. One position higher in 4th was the best she could have hoped for.

So, she can console herself with that.
