Very interesting results so far in the compulsory dances. Pechalat/Bourzat are way out in front so far with only Belbin/Agosto left, with what looks like a big time PB of 34.56. Still not an amazing score when you talk about the elite in the World but extremely high for them. Faiella/Scali and Davis/White both scored much lower, especialy in the PCS, although I am not sure how either skated.

Davis and White were WAY underscored. B&A were great of course--- but Tanith needs to get her hair out of her face --- it was very distracting.

Here's a list of the standings:

FPl. Name Nat. Points CD OD FD
1 Tanith BELBIN / Benjamin AGOSTO
USA 36.03 1
2 Nathalie PECHALAT / Fabian BOURZAT
FRA 34.56 2
3 Federica FAIELLA / Massimo SCALI
ITA 31.43 3
4 Kristin FRASER / Igor LUKANIN
AZE 31.19 4
5 Meryl DAVIS / Charlie WHITE
USA 30.16 5
6 Kimberly NAVARRO / Brent BOMMENTRE
USA 27.90 6
7 Alexandra ZARETSKI / Roman ZARETSKI
ISR 27.80 7
8 Ekaterina RUBLEVA / Ivan SHEFER
RUS 26.95 8
9 Cathy REED / Chris REED
JPN 26.47 9
10 Xiaoyang YU / Chen WANG
CHN 22.14 10

I don't mind saying I'm really surprised that Davis and White are so far back in this. They will have to claw those points back. Pechelat/Bourzat doing very well so far.

Team Detroit need more work on their compulsories! Tanith and Ben's scores were low for them too.

I have to agrre with Davis and White being underscored but good job for Pechelat and Bourzat for finishing 2nd and actually cracking into the 7s for PCS for the 1st time :)

very dissipointing for Davis and White, but I woudl not count them out of the podium.

I wouldnt either. It is dissapointing how they were marked and placed, but the compulsory dance isnt their strength anyway. Last year at Worlds they climbed the whole competition.

What was this year's Compulsory anyway? Is it always the same throughout the season? But I am really surprised by their standing because usually, I would have said they're pretty good at compulsories given their age and relative inexperience. I think they beat melissa and Denis at it at last year's nationals, and also at one competition they placed higher than Virtue and Moir after it.

folk dance. Davis and White are skating a dramatic Dark Eyes.

no, wait that the orginal dance. sorry my bad. I think the compolsatory is somthing latin...

Absolutely. Compulsories is where experience matters more than in other parts of the ice dance competition. All of the teams ahead of them have considerably more years under their belts.

backwards turn

It's got a backwards turn - by that I mean that the man turns his back on his partner and then has to get back into a proper face-to-face closed dance hold. Some of the guys lead with their tummys - and it looks pretty ackward. For that particular turn, I felt that Ben Agosto was the best. No tummy leading there.
Linny

Oh, it's also got both closed and open dance holds - so the skaters have to be very good at either.
