Crazy Future Predictions

Speaking of "Owning The Podium" How is that cute little Gymnast that was featured on The Mercer Report? His name is Kyle Shewfelt.

Back on topic. I'd like to see Alexa and Chris skate to "Game Of Love" By Michelle Branch and Carlos Santana: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKLnmMacEB4
It might also work for Haven and Brandon during their comeback next season.

little gymnast? Kyle Shewfelt, is an OLYMPIC CHAMPION :) and he is one of the openly gay world/olympic champions Canada has (insert tewksbury, buttle, orser and radford here to name a few)

Patrick speaks French!!!! I swear, that Man has so many layers to him. I wonder how many languages these skaters speak. I've heard Stephane Lambiel speak several languages as well.

i want to remove patrick's layers one by one... so in this crazy prediction thread i suggest a double wedding... you and maria b.... me and pchiddy :) only side down, it won't happen in russia, ;)

stephane is swiss: as a french swiss, it's normal he speaks french, german (like most swiss) and english (like everyone)... he probably speaks a bit italian as well... the thing mr rice, as europeans will tell you, the more languages you learn when you are young, the more you can learn later on.

Canadians, was Gino Vannelli considered a big star? He had a couple of big hits "I Just Want To Stop" and "Living Inside Myself" I would love to see Patrick skate to living inside myself. With all the big jumpers out there today, I still feel that Patrick is the best performer of them all and even as an exhibition program, I think it would be great for him.

Gino Vanelli! He was kind of a two hit wonder, but I really liked those songs, and his hair. Maybe that's why I'm a Jason uber, from what I've seen, Jason has Gino Vanelli hair.

And while we are :otopic: I saw an interview with Veronik Mallet, and she was speaking in French with quite the Quebecois accent, so I think she is Francophone. Patrick's French is quite good, but not nearly as thick as Veronik, so I suspect it is an acquired language for him.

ETA: All language is acquired:laugh:, I meant acquired outside the home.

no need to think about it ;) veronik is from quebec, a small city called sept-iles on the very eastern part of the north coast of the st-lawrence river.

Patrick learned his french mostly from french immersion school and was encouraged by his father to speak french, while he would speak cantonese with his mother, and english with everyone else... so Patrick's french is definitely not his first language but it is stellar for a non-native speaker

Here's a crazy prediction story (please remember it doesn't have to be logical at all lol):

The year is 2038. The figure skating event at the Dubai Winter Olympics is about to start.

Alex Shibutani and Ashley Wagner have replaced Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir as NBC's special commentators long ago, after the infamous "Beijing Backstab" in 2022, where Johnny allegedly made a deal with the Russians to secretly commentate for both Match Arena and NBC. Needless to say, the consequences weren't pretty.

Daisuke Hanyu, the son of Yuzuru Hanyu, is the new skating legend, who beat his father's records no less than four times already. His coach, Denis Ten, is confident that he will do it again this time, yet both are somewhat intimidated by an Australian skater who seems to have his eyes set on the podium. Quintuple jumps are an ordinary thing and not being able to do a 5T means you're far out of top 10.

Meryl and Ben White started in ice dance, but switched to pair skating because they felt like they needed more adrenaline in their lives. They are now the fans' top pick to win these Olympics.

The families of previous elite skaters make up one third of the audience. The section where they sit is filled with laughter and chatter, everyone remembering the good old times. Skaters catch up on each others' lives, and here's what they learn about each other:

Guillaume Cizeron has opened a ballet school and travels around the world with his team.
Satoko Miyahara is huge in Asia because of her ice cream company.
Shoma Uno is the new CEO of KOSE. They plan to reboot the Team Challenge Cup again, after two failed attempts, this time bringing in a live circus.
Adam Rippon is a renowned choreographer, and he has created programs for Daisuke Hanyu, Maxim Trankov, Jr., and multiple Russian ladies (no one knows how many), including Masha Ge.
Gracie Gold is the manager of the Golden Girls, a world-famous Synchro team.
Alex Shibutani, as mentioned before, commentates for NBC sometimes, yet his main job is his business. He adores his three children, two of whom are professional hockey players. His sister Maia is the head of the Women's Sports Foundation, and is happily married to Denis Ten (I ship them!!).
Javier Fernandez is the Vice-President of the ISU. His wife Miki is the President of the JSF.
Boyang Jin switched to tennis after retirement. The balls still fly into the crowd more often than not.
Evgenia Medvedeva draws anime and her anime about figure skating is amazingly popular in Japan and the rest of the world.
Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov are married. They have exceptionally beautiful children.

Tarasova still commentates all events for Russian TV. The only person still coaching is Marina Zoueva, who hopes to have her 8th Olympic Gold winners in ice dance at these games.

This was supposed to be a sweet and funny write-up but I think I tried too hard to be logical  Someone help me out!

SATOKOS ICE CREAM SHOP THATS THE BEST THING IN THIS tHREAD

You go away for a week and look what you miss. This thread is hilarious! Here's my humble attempt at future predictions:

No longer content with just skating with them, Ashley Wagner opens an all-girl detective agency/pop band called Ashley and the Sonograms. Hilarity ensues as Ashley and an ever-changing cohort of international wonder-babies solve mysteries while dealing with translation issues, wardrobe envy and international competition. They receive their assignments from a mystery man they never see until one day he's revealed to be Johnny Weir.

Case #1: The Case of Tarasova's Stolen Furs.

This was supposed to be a sweet and funny write-up but I think I tried too hard to be logical  Someone help me out!

LOVE! My version:

The 2038 pairs event is a clash of the ex-elite-skaters'-kids: event favorites include Alex Shibutani's oldest daughter Alissa and partner Logan and Volosozhar/Trankov's children Alina and Dmitri, who both wish they were singles skaters have to try very hard not to wring each other's necks.

In ice dance, Sinitsina/Katsalopov's kids, Maria and Alexander-known affectionately as Masha and Sasha-take silver, coached by none other than Elena Ilinykh.

Mao Asada commentates for various Japanese TV stations. Ashley and Adam commentate for NBC, carrying on the grand tradition of commentators wearing strange outfits, always with copious mesh. :p

Approximately half of the men's event-including all medalists-is coached by the team of Maxim Kovtun and Nobunari Oda, whose renowned Zayak-proof layout soon becomes THE THING in men's skating, phasing out the previous trend of jumping with your head tilted up (popularized by Boyang Jin).

Yulia Lipnitskaya's choreographies become "the thing" in ladies after a skater she choreographed for, Elizaveta Pogorilaya, wins the gold.

Scandal erupts when Yuna Kim coaches a Russian skater to a medal. 350% done with Sochi-Mania, which has STILL not died down, she plainly tells everyone perpetuating the scandal to go get a life in an interview that quickly goes viral.

When several of the ex-elite skaters get a moment to chat, several of their career choices puzzle the others: Gracie Gold has become a sports psychologist, Evgenia Medvedeva has somehow become a world-class violinist, Satoko Miyahara is an actress, and Sui/Han have gotten married and dedicated their lives to the cause of contacting uncontacted tribes in South America.

Alex Shibutani's extremely influential television production company creates a channel that does nothing but stream every skating competition that exists, no matter how obscure. All video is high quality, some of it commentated by himself, ex-skaters, or his children (2/3 of whom know nothing about skating).

Okay, that last one's kind of a wish...
