Dai appeared on TV for the opening of the Asahi Extra Cold summer bar in Tokyo. I think he's been a spokesperson since 2010 at least.

Update with 2 more videos. I've only understood he wants to try skydiving and that he goes 'party people' mode when he drinks too much but at some point they ask him something about Yuzuru, maybe someone is kind to translate what he says. My Japanese fails me at that part

He will make an appearance at the Aminovital store in Koriyama on Saturday, June 14th. There will be a talk open to the first 180 people and a photo session open to 30 people drawn by lottery among the participants.

Wow, it's so candid of Daisuke to say that! I think while in Mao's case, the body says yes while the mind/heart is uncertain about continuing with competitive skating, in Daisuke's case, it's the other way around. I hope and pray that he will come to a decision that will be best for him.

And to lighten the mood, here's a post in the "Meryl Davis - US Figure Skating's Superstar" thread, started upon her winning DWTS, which made me smile:

...Going forward in life, Meryl deserves someone as special as she is. Daisuke Takahashi, where are you??? Now would be the perfect time for you to come forward and sweep Meryl off her feet. :yes:

You are right, last month he actually said the main reason he's taking the next season off is his tired body, because his mind was 100% set on coming back. That will most likely change next year though. Who knows what's gonna happen but this break he's taking right now is a break he has needed since the middle of the 2012-2013 season I think, when he said he started experiencing pain in his knee again but didn't have any time to fully rest. I cannot help wondering what would Dai be like in competition with a rested body and mind.

As for Meryl, Dai has always expressed his desire to be her partner. They asked him if he'd like to be her professional partner or private life partner, and he replied definitely professional, because he wouldn't handle the pressure of being the private life partner of somebody like Meryl As always, he's hinting he's not good enough.

As Dai has been very vocal about his platonic crush on Meryl, I think she has to be the one to make the next step
