I don't know how they could have overcome their skate order - the WORST.
I just found this interesting thing. The following is the Euros' scores.

All European teams scored higher or very close to their Euros' CD marks. The NA teams so far have not had the luck to score close to their 4cc marks. Another example of FS judging panel is dominated by Europeans? Unless you can outjump those Euro guys, it's hard to do better in dancing. NA may well just give up on this discipline.

They seem a little far apart at times - her chotcow has a really weak back outside edge on a couple of them

Her in yellow him in black with yellow collar and outline of deep V neck /
Very weak back outside edge of her chotcow too - much better sense of dance on the easier steps than the last team - nice speed & flow - ok, so they give off a really nice feel to the dance, but I think the steps are a bit lacking technically

A bit of slip/balance check on the steps just before the chotcow on 1st part of 1st pattern / 2nd pattern her chotcaw was almost a flat on the one coming toward me /

I am not at all surprised they are behind F/S and K/N at this point. V/M not only had the bad luck of the skate order draw, but this is their first year at Worlds, the most conservative of all of the competitions in ice dance all year. The CD has also been the weakest part of the comp for them all year. To see them less than two points behind these higher-ranked teams, with their strengths, the OD and the FD to go is a good sign in my book.

Her in dayglo pink with pearlized sequins on bodice, him in black /
Pattern is right end to end - excellent speed & flow - nice sense of the dance - no doubt in my mind that they're in 1st right now / on replay it looks like on one of the 3 turns they didn't quite turn at exactly the same time (I'm probably being overly picky here, but there's not a lot in this dance to separate the top teams)

Her in mostly white with with pink & big ruffle skirt, him in white shirt & black pants
It felt a little cautious to me - like they were being very careful about getting the steps right and not really dancing it like they should have - also a little slow. Not that it wasn't good but I'm trying to find anything I can that will help separate the top teams /

Like Ros said, one of their 3 turns did not turn exactly on time.
This the compulsory dance. Everything needs to be perfect if you expect to be up around the top
