Dancing with the Stars -- Vote for Kristi!

I cast 18 votes for Kristi. Gotta vote because at this time the competition is getting tougher. Her 2nd dance was much better than the 1st - same with Mario.

Unquote.

I'm not familiar withe the Stars on ice site, but that factoid tells me there must be a lot of straight guys voting....:)

On Mario: He did a good job with the Mambo, but I have to agree with what Len Goodman said last week, there is a sameness about all his dances, like he interprets all these different things only one way.
If you mute your TV before he comes on, you'll never know which dance he's doing....

On Jason Taylor: Good job with the Quickstep, way too stiff and robotic for the Paso Doble.
Besides: The theme from Monday Night Football ???????
PLEASE!!!!! (not his fault, still, awful idea)
Ranks down there with Mr. Bojangles for a Viennese and Star Wars for a Tango........

On Christian: He's a pilot in the Chilean Air Force and he pulls a muscle (or gets a cramp or whatever it was) dancing???
Odd.

Kristi did beautifully as always, I thought the umbrella was a great idea (probably hers....), the Cha-Cha maybe a little raunchy and hectic, but that's what you get when you Hip-Hop a Cha-Cha......
She is far and away the best dancer of the bunch, but then again, last season, Sabrina Bryan was far and away the best dancer of the bunch and they sent her home in week 4 or 5 or something, so......

Derek Hough is amazing with choreography, and what's even better, both him and Shannon seem to actually have a sense of humor!!!!
Their Tango may have been the best actual Tango I've seen on any episode of DwtS!

Yes, better than the adults at America's Ballroom Challenge.
What the actually competing pro couples do is way too choreographed and artificial, often leaving very little of the actual steps of the actual dance.
The kids do it right.

You're comparing Snowplow Sams to Kristi Yamaguchi and Brian Boitano. Any idiot can plod around doing steps. Or as my other pro puts it, he can teach a monkey to do steps. It's about what's going on with the rest of the body that makes it dancing and not walking around. Basic skills are there so you can do more interesting things. Put a pair of kids doing Standard next to Katusha and Arunas if you want to see what the difference is. There aren't any choreographic tricks you can do in Standard to cover any missing skills. The pros have a finish and a quality the kids don't have.

And good riddance to Shannon. No hips, and she was decent on most ballroom but this last one was gawky. It was nice from the neck up, though. Her mambo sucked. She can't seem to stretch at all through her body to get the right kind of hip action for dancing and she's just...awkward. I think it's she's stiff through the core, so even on Standard she just can't go. Not that that's easy.

Most improved and best bronze-level technique? Marissa. She and Tony looked like a passable Newcomer/Pre-Bronze pro-am couple who've been working together longer than they have been. She's not the best out there, but I can see her being fourth, maybe.

Overrated: Jason. The paso was a cute idea carried too far, and I'm not feeling the love. Mario's better in general and his upper body has improved.

With a tear, not a cramp, I almost wish Cristian would have withdrawn. That's got to hurt a lot. And it's not like it's going to get easier. I'm a little pissed that Cheryl didn't seem to notice that something was wrong, too. That move at the end..she should have modified the routine on the fly (now on DWTS, they're doing choreography, not leading and following.) Props to him for trying, but really....thank goodness Tom Bergeron knows how to handle emergencies with aplomb.

Kristi: not her best week, the Viennese was weak, the hip-hop cha was ASKING for a Len smackdown, but that's probably a good thing (possibily intentional--it motivated the voting.)

I'm glad that Shannon got voted off I was getting tired of her whinning. I give Christian alot of credit for wanting to continue. As long as the Dr. said it was ok, why not go for it But I think that they should just give Kristi and Mark the trophy now and everyone can go home early.

I wonder what kind of lifts Kristi and Mark will come up with, now that lifts are allowed. Here is where Kristi's natural advantage should be most magnified.

I did feel bad for Shannon. She was crying while dancing her last dance. That being said it was time for her to go for all of the reasons already posted.

What the pro couples have that the kids don't is 3 1/2 tons of make up which makes them look like Herman & Lily Munster in drag, plus a bunch of moves more at home in interpretive ballet than on a ballroom dance floor.
I'll take the kids over the pros any day, thanks.

Shannon being voted off before [Marissa] is ridiculous.
Good thing I understand that the show is a career promo for the participants, not an actual competition.

I still don't understand how an Air Force pilot can tear a muscle dancing with a lady who weighs 120 max.

Look at his arms. He obviously does a rather strenuous workout. He may have done the damage lifting weights or doing some unseen move at an odd angle while practicing. No matter how strong or in shape you are, something that hits at the wrong angle can do you in. I think the damage was done before they hit the floor for the samba and something just happened that was the final straw that broke the camel's big arm humps.

That was bit uncalled for. Marissa does not have a dancers' body, but I think she dances better than Shannon and has improved. She wanted to be on the show because she loves it and probably to help her career. The girl's got talent - the Tony she won for her role in Hairspray confirms it.

What's endearing about Marissa and Tony (the dancer, not the award ;) ) is how pleased and proud Tony is with what she has accomplished. I hope she goes to number three (with Jason and Kristi in the finals).

I was worried about Kristi this week so I voted for her online as many time as I was allowed. I never voted before. I mean I never voted for american idols or anyone in my life before. I just felt that I have to show some support for Kristi just in case.

I voted for Kristi the other night, too. :)

Definitely not her best week, but I still love her.

Shannon shot herself in the foot when she played the sore loser card a couple weeks ago... she had to know she was a goner...

I threw most of my votes to Marissa to try and offset anyone voting for Shannon (I figured they'd be bottom two) but I do enjoy watching her with Tony. He seems to be in much better spirits this season.

I think calling Marissa Miss Piggy is mean and uncalled for.

Ya know, I wasn't sure at whom the nasty name was directed, since I figured any blatant name calling would be moderated/edited off the board. I'm sure direct name calling aimed at a specific individual is not in line with the spirit and probably not with the letter of the forum rules, so I figured there was no way anyone could refer to a specific person based on body type in such a derogatory manner.

Must've been a generalized observation, for sure. ;)

I voted for Marissa too. I think she has been the most improved dancer. Also, she has lost some weight or at least she looks like it to me. I would really like to see her win.

Kristi has so many advantages going for her that's why I am not really impressed with her at all.

If you had heard my youngest daughter's remarks about Derek, the reason behind their lead in that poll would be perfectly clear to you. I would imagine that site attracts a great many girls in her age group. Let's just say that Derek has a certain appeal to the young ladies that transcends figure skating.. Plus, there's the whole true-love-conquering-against-all-odds angle that's considered the height of romance. My daughter was very disappointed when they were voted off.. .

That's a great point. I think as the show goes along, there will be more and more fans voting for their favorite professional dancers rather than for the contestants. The dancers have become more famous than the "celebrities," especially for young viewers.

Definitely the most improved. She has added precision and grace to the enthusiasm that she always had.

I know what you mean. I feel the same way when they have people who have been in boy bands, or last year's Cheetah girl. Even though they are not professional dancers, still they have experience in moving with the music and in lmastering choreography that the others don't.

That was briought out in the little fluff piece about how hard is is for most of the contestants to learn the choreography in just three or four days every week Some of the pros seemed like they were frustrated with their partners' slowness -- you do this, then you do that, then you do this -- why can't you remember that?!

Kristi doesn't have that problem.

But still...it is a dancing contest, so the best dancer should win.

How do you know that?

Kristi used to take weeks and weeks to learn a skating program before she performed it. Please don't forget, when Kristi was in Stars on Ice, they rehearsed for three weeks in Connecticut and then two more weeks in Lake Placid before the show debuted and even then it was rough.

But still...it is a dancing contest, so the best dancer should win.

Sort of, but So You Think You Can Dance changed it's tagline from "the search for America's best dancer" to "the search for America's favorite dancer." Any show where viewers vote mixes up the "best" notion.

Oh, heck yeah. I vote for Tony. Not just because he's kind of hot, but because Rhythm's my division and needs more love. Likewise I'm not likely to vote for anyone Louis partners for reasons totally unrelated to what happesn on the show.
