Dancing with the Stars -- Vote for Kristi!

What is Mark's *intrest* when it comes to dance. He seems to really get into the Jive, but I don't know if that's actually a strength or he just has fun with it... I don't get all the technical stuff so I'm not sure if I'm missing what he truly shines in.

I missed most of the show tonight... 2 year olds have short attention spans (we watched my tape of Disney's Greatest Hits On Ice because she likes Scotty skating to Mickey Mouse music)

I really wish Jason would go.

Me, too. I really liked him at first but I think the judges are overrating him. Len was commenting in the fluff piece about the motion of Kristi's leg when she swooped around in the (oh, I just had the name of the move on the tip of my tongue, and lost it) move where you kind of do a jumping 1/2 turn -- but Jason did a similar move at the start of the Paso Doble and looked incredibly awkward. His leg just hung in the air instead of making a nice arc. The finishing moves of the Paso looked awkward, too, to me. But the football players I think have a huge fanbase that also insures he stays in it.

QUOTE: Marissa's competant. She'd be a good sylabus dancer and her footwork is neat.

Marissa did a nice job. I liked the way Len defended her rhumba.

QUOTE: Kristi's great when Mark isnt' freakin' outdancing her! The sync problems were he was overdoing it and she couldn't keep up, and it's his responsibility to dial it down a little.

Absolutely! He was really stepping high with every move, so that even if they were both on the beat, since he was taking much higher steps, and also making higher kicks and bigger arm movements, it appeared out of synch. I watched my tape a couple of times, and I think generally their feet hit the floor simultaneously, but he was stepping so much higher and with so much bounce that they couldn't possibly _look_ synchronized. I'm surprised he didn't realize that (I'm sure they have mirrors in their rehearsal studio! ;) ) and it is definitely his responsibility to dial it down, as the professional and as needing to showcase the female partner.

ETA: In general, though, I still think Kristi's the best celebrity dancer by far. I found myself really enjoying Marissa, and then Cristian, and thinking how well everyone was doing, then Kristi would dance and her choreo is just so much more difficult and precisely executed (at least it looks that way to me) that I'm reminded why she should win hands down -- if it weren't a popularity contest instead of a dance contest.

Thanks for that observation (and for all the great posts on this thread by dance experts. ) Yes, that's exactly the problem.

Toni, on the other hand, I think does a perfect job of presenting his amateur partner. It's like he's saying, "Check this out, folks -- ain't she something!"

The other way around, I think the pro ladies have it easier. They can swoosh around doing their thing and to some extent distract the viewer's eye from the fact that the men aren't quite up to par.

I've pretty much been thinking this since season 1. The guys can pose while the women whirl and twirl and stretch and bend around them.

I took a few ballroom classes several years ago and the instructor emphasized that my partner's feet should be moving and not just standing there (unless he's bracing me for something.)

Yay, Kristi and Mark are safe.

eta: Bye Bye Marisa.

Kristi's got this in the bag. Christian and Jason will split the macho stud vote, and Kristi will waltz home with the trophy! ;)

Sorry to see Marissa go, but she can be proud of what she accomplished.

Hope you're right about Kristi, MM!

I'll miss Marissa.

I think Kristi will be the first female to win this if she does win.

I wonder where it will take her in the realm of showbiz? Mario Lopez, both Osmunds, big John whatever his last name, others(?) all had renewed interest in their careers.

I'm really excited about this final. I hope Kristi wins, there's a lot of girls with the "he's so cute, so I'll vote for him" factor LOL. I look forward to the freestyle dance Monday!

I was very sorry to see Marisa go. I think she did an excellent job. I just know one of the guys will win.

I think Marissa did an excellent job = she really enjoyed herself and brought alot to the show. I hope it will be Cristy and Christian in the finale. That will be a good match up. I still think Crisy will win.

I think they are all kind of boring to watch. It is not as good as past years. Having said that, Kristy is the best dancer and should do well with lifts and hopefully win. That football guy will also be able to lift his partner ,since he is an amazon! None of them really have the "IT" factor for me.

:sheesh: Kelly Monaco (actress on GH) was the 1st winner of DWTS and the only female to win the title to date.

Other winners have been Drew Lachey, Emmett Smith, Apolo Ohno, and Helio Casteneves. Additional finalists have been John O'Hurley (of Seinfeld fame as J Peterman, Elaine's boss), Stacy Keibler & Jerry Rice, Mario Lopez, Laila Ali and Joey Fatone, Marie Osmond and Mel B (Scary Spice of the Spice Girls)

John O'Hurley wuz robbed.

I always thought that John posed too much during Latin while his partner danced around him. Kelly's soap fans kept her in the game long enough for her to actually start 'getting it'. The only way John was robbed was in Kelly not being eliminated earlier. In the end she surpassed him at Latin and he did find at the standard.

John O'Hurley acted more than he danced. Not unlike many skaters with that superficial look on their faces - nothing from the heart, unless of coudrse, he/she is your favorite.
