Dancing with the Stars -- Vote for Kristi!

Did anyone else watch Oprah today? They had all the DWTS winners (minus John O'Hurley) dance. Helio and Juliann did cha cha to Roller coaster. Drew and Cheryl performed their free dance to Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy. Kelly Monaco and Alec did their freestyle - I actuallly think it was better this time around and she hasn't danced since the dance off with John O. Emmett and Cherly danced, too - he and Drew were joking around about who was her better partner and more manly. Only Apollo didn't appear. Also, Derek surprised someone in their dance class as a favor to Oprah and they danced the Mambo he had with Jenny.

Then they intro'd the new cast. Kristi said she was most nervous about getting her scores at the end - she last competed as an amateur 16 yrs ago and she just got anonymous scores. It's different getting face to face critques. Priscilla has wanted to be on the show since season 1. Penn has never watched an episode and joked about it perhaps being a bad decision. Steve Guttenberg said it's his Mom's favorite show and he feels that the celebrities 1st meeting was like a group hug. If Penn and Steve are anything to go by, they will make the show lots of fun.

If you missed it, Oprah usually re-airs in the early am hours (i.e. 1 am, 2 am) - check your local listings.

I did feel that Priscilla has definitely gotten some work done.

Mark Ballas is a great partner for Kristi. He is an amazing dancer and his choreography was wonderful last season. They could be really good together.

Wow, look how tall Kristi's heels are in the second photo. (Monica Seles says she has never worn heels.)

Bret Hedican is still one of the fastest defensemen in the NHL. (I think Kristi is faster, though. )

IIRC she said in an interview that he could be her every time in a sprint on the ice, but she beats him in endurance.

Flow and glide are quite different on the dance floor. There is no slippery ice and blades! But she is a married lady now and probably danced many times with hubby. I'm sure she will do well.

It will be difficult, but Kristi's work ethic is the stuff of legends. Plus, it's a long way from hip hop to the tango too. They will all have something to overcome.

I was thinking that Kurt Browning would be a great contestant. He has incredible musicality and dance ability, plus a great personality. Of course, he might just be too good!

Kristi is paired with Mark Ballas, who was paired with Sabrina Bryan last season. He was Julianne Hough's former pro partner on the dance floor , too , and he is in a band with Derek Hough. I'm not sure if he and Sabrina are still dating or not.

Point of the show

Those predicting Kristi's victory based on her skills miss the point of the show. The point of the show is to garner votes. It means that the most popular star wins - not necessarily the best dancer.

So if you really want her to win, you've got to vote.

Actually i for one am not going to watch -because it is nothing more than a popularity contest. in fact i watch the first two years and voted -i got more thandiscouraged when the person who could dance was voted off in favor of the athlete who couldn't. in fact this year i think is it rigged so a women could win with the exception of the first year.
my parents always taught me not to follow the pack, but think on my own. for example if your friends will drive off a cliff, would you follow. i for one would not. but it seems like that is case now a days. people just following others because it its the most popular thing to do. like voting, watching shows, just to be in on the know and say they voted for a winner whether they actually like was good or not.

Who saw the men last night? Penn was terrible. I hardly recognized Monica Seles, all dolled up in her makeup and glad rags. :agree:

I watched last night! I do think Penn was the worst out of all the guys....I think Adam Carolla actually could of been scored slightly higher!! He was putting out the effort!! Mario looks like the one to beat!! Jason was a surprise!!! Steve G. was soooo excited to be there, and Cristian is very sexy!!!

I'm looking forward to tonight!!! Go Kristi!!!!!!! I hope she can get all sexy when the dance calls for it!!!!

I had the TV on last night, but was working on other projects and didn't really see the guys perform. Oops!! I'm watching this season for Kristi . . . let's be honest.
