Dancing with the Stars -- Vote for Kristi!

I get where Shannon is coming from, I'm sure it is frustrating

that being said she's not as great as some of the others - but when you have your pro partner telling you that you're awesome and other's tell you that, it's hard to take the negative

I was so freaked that Kristi might be in the bottom 2...

Me too. Does that mean she did not get that many votes? I wish Shannon ( who is very stiff imo) went home instead of Marlee.

Kristi was in the bottom two and looked so worried. I believe that was a set up for the show to make it more interesting. I had no doubts that she would be kicked off. Marlee, unfortunately, did her thing and had to go.

I think it's pretty obvious they arrange the announcement of who's safe in order to create the most suspense. Kristi was always announced as safe early on in earlier weeks because noone would believe she was going to be voted off anyway; they probably kept her in suspense here because everyone remembers Sabrina and Mark getting voted off with a 30.

I am really sorry to see Marlee go. I was hoping she would win. I loved watching her abilities in action, what an inspiration.

They didn't get voted off the week they had the 30. The week they were sent into the night (over to Jimmy Kimmel), they had like a 24 or 25. It was probably their worst dance of the season, a foxtrot. Still, it was a super dance, and way way better than others still on the show. But they didn't get cut the week they were on top.

Waiting so long to announce Kristi was safe was definitely a hype thing. The bottom two were Mario (which actually surprises me) and Marlee. But they didn't announce that Kristi and Mark were safe, or Jason and Edyta for that matter, til right at the end, to attempt to build some suspense.

Agree with above posters that, previously, no one was in much doubt about Kristi, so they went ahead and called her safe early on (usually). This week, they tried to play a "they were perfect with the judges, but maybe the fans didn't keep coming out for them" angle.

I've gotten lax about voting the last few weeks, but now that the field is narrowing I'll be dialing for Kristi again!

I liked Shannon early on, but agree that she just doesn't seem to "get" the hip action required. She looks more uncomfortable each week, it seems to me, instead of better.

I liked Marlee and admire all she did. Would rather have seen Shannon or Cristian go, but actually I wasn't wild about any of these 3's dancing.

I wish Tony would choreo better for Marissa; I really think he lacks understanding of how to make a showy routine. I will admit, though, that he tends to put more of the basic steps of each type of dance into the routine, instead of going for big tricks, which for the most part I like -- but at the same time you can't be dull about it. It's really a tough balance to get right. Edyta definitely goes too far with the big tricks, as many of you all have said. I really think Jason is capable of more, but Edyta seems determined to grab the spotlight. Yah, sure, the female partner is supposed to shine -- but Jason is the contestant here and needs a chance to perform at least a little.

Oh, and I am so WOWED by these young dancers in the results shows. I thought the young couple that advanced last night were incredibly crisp and really had the character of the dance down, to an amazing degree.

And I couldn't believe both young couples last week, either -- that was truly, truly a tough one to judge. I couldn't believe how well 7- and 8-year olds were doing!

um, Kristi wasn't in teh bottom two, Mario and Marlee were the two that were.

The announcer always says that the couples who are safe are announced "in random order." Could be true.

About the children dancing, I thought the boys from last week were especially crisp and sharp. For the littlest kids, though, there is something weird about it -- they look like tiny adults more so than children.

the same can be said, MM, about young skaters, too...

the Riverdance stuff was awesome - and one of the guys in the group is the son of my aunt's coworker... so yeah it was neat.

Joe, Kristi was not in the bottom 2. When they announce who is safe, they don't do it in any particular order. Kristi could still have been 1st, but as someone else mentioned, they announced her safety (2nd to last - Jason/Edyta were the last team to be announced as safe.) to build suspense.

Only the bottom 2 know that they got the least votes/judges ratings. Mario/Karina and Marlee/Fabian were the bottome 2.

my dad was gushing about Kristi today when I was talking to him on the phone...

he does think it's unfair, though, because Kristi is just awesome and no one can come close because she is awesome (can you tell she's one of his most favorite skaters? LOL)

I am so proud of Kristi! She is just so awesome!
The only thing bothers me about the show is that everyone on the show seems to be hooking up. I know Kristi isn't like that but when you spend so much time together(the partners are often holding hands together, hugging), I am sure you start developing feelings for each other.

Shannon is a tall, skinny thing, so her hip action is NEVER going to be as noticable as that of someone who is more, umh, rounder.
There's a lady in my dance club who is barely 5 foot on tippy toes and has an hour glass figure that would make Marilyn Monroe green with envy.
She has enough 'Cuban motion' for 3 Cubans, and that's just when she walks!
Atta boy, Derek, for telling 'em what's what!
Shannon and Derek have by far the best chemistry of the bunch, she may not be the best dancer - I'd say she's no.2 after Kristi - but I was definitely impressed by the fact that she got what the Rumba is supposed to be.
Not many people do.
And Derek is scary good with choreography!

In defense of Tony Dovolani, he is somewhat, erm, limited in what he can do this season.
That's all I'm gonna say, lest I get another 'forum violation' (aka telling the truth online....).

The little kids are VERY impressive - just as they are on America's Ballroom Challenge where they are easily better than the adult couples - but I feel really sorry for that really short boy who said he was going to ' get all the girls' by being a good dancer.
Wow, does he have some extremely bad surprises coming!

I'm fairly sure that both Misses Sliwinska and Smirnoff are waiting for some kind of TV/movie offer, that's why they showcase themselves in such extreme fashion and basically use the male celeb as a kind of moving monkey bars.....
Sure Jason Taylor can do nice lifts: he's 6'6 or thereabouts and weighs like twice as much as his partner!
Duh.........

I don't think you have to worry about Kristi.......she is such a pro. This is no different from pairs skaters and ice dancers. Those partnerships last for years and remain platonic. There is a BIG difference between doing your job and your personal life, friendship and romance.

Well, Bret's on the scene now, so Mark better watch out if he doesn't want to get body-checked into next week!

Have you guys got your new Spotlight on Skating  yet. Kristi's got the cover, plus a big four-page photo spread of her and Mark. Here's a quote from Kristi:

People think I have an advantage, but not all ballroom dances are about grace; a lot are more about body movement and, you know, shaking it."
:chorus::chorus:

...

Better than the couples *at OSB?*

Because I'll give you better than the stars on DWTS, but ballroom ain't skating. Those kids are good, but they're not considered even halfway to being good enough for Open Pro yet. Give them another ten or fifteen years. Latin dancers usually peak in their late twenties/early thirties or so.

Yes, better than the adults at America's Ballroom Challenge.
What the actually competing pro couples do is way too choreographed and artificial, often leaving very little of the actual steps of the actual dance.
The kids do it right.

I think the most improved dancer this season is Marissa Winoker.

She started out with no notion of what she should be doing except to bounce energetically around the stage. Now, she is starting to get the steps down and is developing a certain style that complements her personality.

Edited to add: What the hey... I was just on the Stars on Ice site, and they have a poll going. Shannon is leading Kristi, 935 to 540!

Woah, crazy night! Ended up giving Kristi all my remaining votes, but I was tempted to throw Christain and Cheryl one.
