Denis Ten

Denis Ten launching his first ice show "Denis Ten&friends" and in a rather fancy company: Lambiel, Joubert, Slutskaya, Carolina, others. Rather fast, especiallly for the country which is not some ISU monster . This is the place to gush about Denis Ten, world bronze medalist, Olympic bronze medalist, and former World silver medalist. Let Lori Nichol, his choreographer, begin the gushing for this amazing skater:

Lori Nichol, the Canadian choreographer who has long collaborated with Carroll, has become one of Ten’s muses.

“The way his blade touches the ice and the way he moves his body through space on the ice is highly individual,” she said. “And his passion is not just throwaway passion. It’s this really deep, profound passion, and when he lets it out, I’ve been reduced to tears in practice sometimes because, oh, my God, I get blown away. I’ve worked at a high level and never seen anyone like it.”

I've always had high expectations for Denis, even through the two years he fell all over the rink. So glad he got over the growth spurt and got good support and training to become the all round elegant skater he is today. He must be the pride of Kazakhstan.

Just thought this was interesting.

Denis has recently visited his ancesteral homeland (Korea), and visited the tomb of his great-great-grandfather, who was a famous general.

Visited my great-great-grandfather's tomb in Wonju, South Korea. I am so proud and honored to be the descendant of the Korean General - Min Geung-Ho.

He fought for Korean independence in the 1900s. The army of general Min was the largest in the country and had the strongest fighting spirit. They fought around 100 battles and most memorable fights were in Jeocheon, Jucksan, Janghowon, Yeoju, Hongcheon.

In 1962 he was posthumously awarded the Republic of Korea Presidential Medal of Order of Merit for National Foundation, the most prestigious civil decoration in the Republic of Korea, for his efforts for Korean independence. In October 1999 the city of Wonju erected the monument (photo attached) in honor of his patriotism.

"He was a man of integrity and fairness and held in great respect by his subordinates. Also he was a strong-willed commander with an excellent leadership skills and thus had many followers." Says on the monument of General Min Geung-Ho.

I never considered myself his fan, but I do think he has a lot of potential with his programs this season. My hopes for him are honestly just to improve from his SA outing... which hopefully won't be too hard

I agree Denis does have great programs. If Denis is on he will medal. Wishing him a good competition!

I was a bit shocked to find out Denis Ten's fan thread is only on its first page yet, I too am not that much of a fan of him as a figure skater, but I;m more of a fan of his programs. I think he is the male version of Mao Asada as Mao is in her finest when choreographed by Nichol, he too is the best to be choreographed by her and how he interprets his programs is exceptional.

I hope he will have a come back in TEB and give Machida and the rest a game on!

Yaay Denis!!! Although it shatters (i think) my GP predictions I am very happy that he was able to skate his SP clean. It was one of the programs that I liked in SA and it was wonderful that he gave justice to it and got a new PB even.

Although he had a bad day, he still got his first ever GP medal! Finally! Now that he has broken his curse, maybe he can do better in next year's GP and qualify for the GPF!
