Deniss Vasiljevs

Japanese fans posting on his FB fanclub think it may have something to do with a Japanese historical drama that aired in 2016, Sanada Maru https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3811304/ ; the armour Deniss constructed is apparently based on the samurai Yukimura Sanada, who was the main character. Because of my lack of knowledge of Japanese :palmf: I was not able to find the full soundtrack but I did find the main theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loLnyPNUsYw and a piano version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98gW4Y1XukI

On October 1st on the Latvian Internet news site tvnet.lv there appeared an article about Deniss' participation in the Japanese Open.

“I really hope that the new season, which starts with the Japan Open tournament, will be successful for me. It is a great honour to be invited to the European team and to compete with these great figure skating champions, 'Vasiljevs said about the upcoming competitions.

"In Japan, I will present my new FP, and I really hope that people will enjoy watching it and like it as much as I like myself. The participation in Japan Open is also a great opportunity to get to know the Saitama Ice Arena, where in March, 2019 The World Figure Skating Championship will take place, "said Latvian figure skater.

I guess we have to be patient as there are only a couple of days to wait. I hope with all my heart that he succeeds!:luv17:

Some news continues to appear on Latvian sights. ;)

"The organizers highly appreciated Deniss’ achievements in the previous season, especially the sixth place in the World Championship. This competition is a great challenge for him. In Japan it is very popular and will take place in the arena in which the World Championship will take place in March, with a capacity of 18,000 spectators. Deniss likes to perform when the hall is full, then he succeeds most. In addition, there are a lot of his fans in Japan, and this summer they could get pleasure in several shows with Deniss. So the boy is pleasantly excited before the start of the season, "said Vasiljevs’s manager Christopher Trevisan.:yay:

His coach, the famous Swiss Stephane Lambiel, continues to perfect he 19-year-old Vasiljevs’s talent. In the summer a lot of work was done at the training camps in Switzerland, Canada and Daugavpils, where several other Lambiel’s students arrived and he also gave some advice to local future figure skaters.
When creating his new SP and FP programs, Vasiljevs worked on the development of all the elements, including quads.

Is that from this article? http://www.la.lv/vasiljevs-saks-zvaigznota-sabiedriba I couldn't tell if it meant that quads were among the the things being worked on or if they were included in the new programs from google so thank you for translating it more clearly :thank:

Banners for JO are ready (one here). Deniss and Stephane are on site, obviously (but this photo is not so obvious ). Today's practice is over, hope for some leaks ;)

Deniss in the Nanana hat is so cute!! :luv17:

Photos of Deniss at practice have surfaced

I had hoped there would be some from sportsnavi but they have only published photos of the Japanese athletes so far :ohwell: and no practices in costume either! I know he doesn't practice in his new costumes normally, but so far everything is kept under wraps.

As I understod from the article in Latvian ( i am also Latvian :) ), the quads are indeed included in both programmes and Deniss has worked hard to shape all the other elements to perfection and that the main goal for his team is Europeans.

On a side note it was also mentioned that Deniss has graduated from high school and entered Daugavpils University where he will pursue a degree in Sport and Social Science Pedagogy.

Fingers crossed for him in everything :)

What an intense gaze! :luv17:

A little note for those who are interested in Team Champery-" Diāna Ņikitina, who is currently traumatized and it is unclear when the season begins for her, is going to continue the work with Lambiel."

Christopher also said, "He always wants to progress and is very ambitious" He believes Deniss will be able to take a step forward. :agree:

That's right. He will! Let's keep fingers crossed! :luv17:

Deniss skated first, to Last Samurai, Zatoichi.
Don't want to spoil before the broadcast, so if anybody is interesting in results, look here.

Just watched Deniss' performance but the broadcast wasn't qualitative, at least mine wasn't. The program is very interesting and differs from the previous ones but the jumps! He didn't look satisfied himself. It needs perfection and I'm sure the next ones will be better and better. He proved it the previous season.

I've just watched a very low quality video with missing parts.

The jumps were rough but the programme itself looks fresh and promising. He's bound to be disappointed but I believe he can nail this programme at Worlds in Japan ☺️
Last season he also had a disappointing first skate and look how the season ended for him 😊

You can rewind this stream to -2:42 to watch him in better quality (except for a few spots where the stream gets wonky).

I'm guessing he was really nervous, but I am sure he'll settle into things soon enough. About the program...I agree that it's good for him to try a new style. I'm not sure it's going to be one of my favorites, although if/when he nails the jumps and really embodies the samurai, I will probably warm up to it more. I hope his SP will be a bit dancier and less serious, since that's the Deniss I know and love the most.

It's surely the matter of the lunar phase or a special layout of planets that boys of '99 had a tough day today for jumps. ;)

Deniss' costume is lovely, I like the colour very much (Stephane's suit was of the same shade of blue marine), but I'm not sure if the loose-fitting trousers help in rotation...

From the source I watch....it only left with 5Jumps and broken in to parts. I still didn’t get the whole picture of the New Fs except that it is a new fresh style and definitely need to improve. Therefore I think I need to at least wait for the Gp before I form any ideas about the new programs. But good luck for Deniss!

In the article in sportacentrs.com it's said,

"The European team won a $ 60,000 second-place cash prize, which is divided equally between the four skaters. So our athlete is entitled to 15,000."

Isn't it :cool2:?

Looking back at what I saw yesterday in the video, I can only agree with all the views expressed. Deniss was nervous. Probably, because it was not only his own responsibility, but he represented the team.

Samurais are fierce solders but Deniss' has a sunny nature. Maybe he does not live in this image yet. It was the first time he performed it.
But the program is great. And I am sure he will develop it to perfection. :luv17:
