I love these photos. I'm happy that Deniss is enjoying his time in Japan and that the audience was wonderful. His score is too low, but its all a journey.

Don't think so. He uses the Riedell ice skates and some of them are black while a heel is brown (e.g. https://www.ice.riedellskates.com/Catalog/Competitive-Series/Boot-Only/Boot-Model-Elara - I'm not sure which model Deniss uses).

Pretty sure it's just for aesthetic value. Black boots with a custom brown heel.

Yeah, overall the score - especially when it felt good for him (which is ofc more important than any score) - should have been higher. That would have also given more room for other scores when "balance" or "difference" would still be maintained.

But hey, he did not have the est reputation going into Worlds and with the mistake here and there. We have to "thank" two skaters I would have never thought of doing this, Matteo and Adam now pushed him "safely" into second to last FS group.

Altough they (and e.g. Sota) can really pressure from behind when they start out with strong skates, it's still not unimportant as we say.

Glad that his feeling is back!
