Watching the documentary, I missed the information that it had been made in April, and was afraid for a while because of Deniss' attitude. I mean frustration is the last thing I expected after Latvian Championships where he got one of the best PCS ever... Of course I could understand it anyway, I don't think Deniss dreams of being new Jason Brown who is an excellent skater, but lack of firm quads still keeps him out of the podium.

I feel that taking new students, including Diana, is Stephane's answer to the socialising problems mentioned in the video. Now Deniss seems to be much more connected to other youngsters, even if he doesn't take part in every their insta stories :)

I have barely had time to watch the documentary, unfortunately...I tried to skim through and just watch the parts with Deniss, but I'll have to give it another proper look later. I really enjoyed seeing him at school and walking around Latvia...it looks beautiful there. And yes, I think he has probably become a bit more social by now with Diana and Koshiro. I can certainly believe Deniss is quite introverted and probably finds it hard to relate to his peers, and it's not always a bad thing, since you need to be very focused to be successful as an athlete. But of course it's healthy to have some balance and not live in your head all of the time too. Since he loves to cook and bake that seems like an ideal way to enjoy being with other people. It's great that Stephane can recognize what he needs and I feel certain that he would do whatever it takes to help Deniss.

I figured the training part was made in April, since when they filmed that Sporta Studija video Deniss said he had been struggling with 'the first triple he learned', which was probably the 3S we saw in the documentary. And also only Koshiro was there, if Diana had been there I'm sure they would have talked to her too. The rest might have been filmed later.

I have been scouring Twitter for reports from XOI, and most of them have amounted to "wow Lato-Deni-kun is becoming more and more handsome:love:" :laugh: Lots of praise for his performance (which was Lion King). Here is a pic with him and the rest of the cast, including Oda and Daisuke. That hat is really cute :luv17: And in the group number he was throwing presents to the audience?! :love:

A Deniss sighting from outside the building. I think that is Chris Trevisan with him. Poor fan couldn't work up the courage to ask for his autograph :( but living in Japan I am sure they will get another chance.

XOI is going to be broadcast on TV Tokyo at 16:00 JST (or in just over 13 hours).

You can watch the first broadcast of XOI here (although it mainly focuses on the Japanese skaters, as expected)
Click the 1st option in the 1st column, channel 6 in the second, 16:00 in the third, and 12/16 in the fourth.

Saying that, I missed the first 30 mins so I'm not sure if they showed Deniss, but he's in the opening, group numbers and ending. (Edit: Twitter says his EX wasn't shown :tantrum:)
I watched the rest live but now it won't load for me :mad:
The full version is supposed to air on the 24th so I guess we have to wait.
 
That is one huge batch of presents! As always, he seems to really be a crowd favorite. :agree:

It's weird, indeed... Unless it is Sherlock's coat of sexiness ;) But I can't imagine how to skate wearing a long coat :laugh:

I really like Deniss' outfit for XOI. But probably I like his Star Wars T-shirt the most :luv17:

Looks like tremendous fun! Considering Chock/Bates chair as an EX prop, I wouldn't be surprised when a table would appear as Deniss's prop next season :laugh:
 
Thanks to all of you for so many nice posts. It's amazing that Deniss is loved and appreciated so much in Japan. It makes me so happy.
