Thank you so much for linking this video :love: He is soooo smooth across the ice, you can really see it up close. Deniss is even more handsome up close, too.

That reminds me, I forgot earlier but Deniss is 4th to skate in the penultimate group. I think this draw is alright for him, I hope's he's not waiting long enough to get nervous. Be brave, Deniss! :pray:

In the end of such demanding season everybody are visibly tired. Hope Deniss is fresh and powerful today :)
His starting number is 29 (and my superstitious side says 2+9 gives 11, a master number ;))

Our Lion is the 9th!!! Without quads it's very good!!!:yahoo:

He was so handsome! The jumps were perfect!! Maybe at Euros he was a bit more enthusiastic.

I have a feeling that on Saturday he will show what he really can!!:pray::pray:
 
Awww I am soo happy for Deniss!!! He did absolutly great! He seemed really relaxed and had a smile on his face during the whole performance! Super, super, super! Hope he can continue that way tomorrow!
I am a little confused that the stepsequence was only level 3 (but they really rarely gave level 4 today), I thought this today was the best version of his short program this year and would have deserved a seasons best.
anyways, so happy for him 😘😘😘🦁

With level 4s it would have been a seasons best, touching 86 :( But he did so well!!! 9th is the highest he's ever been in Worlds and he can be proud of that even just in the SP. :)

Something I noticed is that he doesn't look as sure of himself on his new blades yet, that might be why he missed the StSq level and his spins were travelling. But - I might be imagining it - he seems to be rotating a bit faster.
And also on rewatch they gave him level 4 on the final spin at first, why did they change it? :sarcasm:

A bit superficial of me but he really was so handsome today :luv17: :o:

Our TV commentator said that in one stepsequence he lost the centring (don't know the exact word for it). It seldom happens with Deniss, usually he has Level 4.

Thanks, Agnes... So of course obviously they had a reason. I will rewatch it a couple of times anyways so maybe I will be able to spot something 😆

I'm very happy! It reminds me my first world championships in Boston where was such an amazing atmosphere. I'm very happy and satisfied with what I did today! Now the new Olympic cycle starts and this competition is like an opening of the new four-year cycle to Beijing. For me the main motivation is a joy from skating because I enjoy to skate and I love to be in this crowd which is for me like an energy bomb and I get plenty of pleasant and positive energy from that. So, I like to start the new Olympic cycle here. On Saturday I expect from myself to bring as much joy as possible to the crowd and to do my job great. I will do my best.

Our sunshine boy was one of the only bright spots of this competition for me. I also noticed his serene smile when he took his place on the ice and I'm very pleased with his performance. I'm sure being relatively close to home is easier than living in the barracks in Pyeongchang. Perhaps getting his test out of the way helped him to relax as well. I just pray that we will get some decent fancams, since the camerawork was rubbish and he was like an ant on my screen near the end of the program! :dev2:

Good job Deniss. A bit shaky when entering out one of the spins, and maybe this is just me, but I think his signature spin's speed is a bit slower compared to usual. I have a feeling he is not quite used to the new blades? (I can be completely wrong though) But overall, it was a great performance. Looking forwards to his FP :D GO DENISSSSSSSS!

I think it is the blades. I don't know much about the actual mechanics of crossovers, but it looked to me like he was having to 'push' a lot more to get up to speed than normal. With his other wobbles, I don't think he's fully adjusted to the new blades yet. But as long as he stays on his feet it'll be fine, because he always gives it 200% :)

I think you are absolutely correct here. He only got level 3 for his last spin because he only have 7 rotations in his signature sit spin, while he needs 8 to obtain level 4.

At least 8 rev. without changes in position/variation, foot or edge (camel, layback, difficult variation of any basic position or for combinations only non-basic position)

Not sure if he just too excited at the end of the program or he really not used to the new blades, but he is doing a great job in the competition by comparing his practice report:thumbsup:

It was as if he was just casually lurking, retweeted it, and then suddenly realised he was using the wrong account or something 😂 I didn't screenshot the notification so you'll have to believe me but he really did, honest! :p

British Eurosport didn't show him on their recap, but they mentioned him right at the very end when they went over the final standings. I had a video link but it was taken down :( anyway, it's mainly because Simon is a bonafide Deniss fanboy more than anything else :biggrin:

Yea that was so cool. The 🦁 really became his good luck charm now, I love that!

Did anyone of you get what Steph and Deniss said in the kiss & cry?
