During the Euro Champs, when commenting on Deniss’ SP, Stephane’s friend Mr Trankov said that this smiling Swiss guy can be quite harsh and demanding and scold his students.:mad: But that’s what coaches have to do and they do it.

I think they both have a slightly different relationship. Stephane took him under his wing, was responsible for him. Actually he was his Swiss daddy. Deniss is a cute, active, goal minded and hardworking boy. But I'm not saying that he is an angel! :) So I don't think somebody should be really strict with him. Now when he is grown up, we could speak more about respect and friendship between them. That's what I think.
 
Me too! But I'm also a bit worried. I really can't say why, maybe because of the jumps. I feel that these programs need quads indeed. But who knows, may be on Sunday everything will look better!

I wish him luck because this time there is a strong competition, therefore I am saying again and again-Dear boy, jump high, stay on your feet and rotate! Rotate!!! Make us happy!:hap85:

Actually I am not that worried (yet...)
I have a pretty good feeling about NHK somehow.. i don’t want to jinx it.. but I think he can even medal... noone but Shoma is unbeatable for him (even with slight mistakes) and I think his FS and his win in Minsk have given him confidence...

but I might be getting nervous by the end of the week.. well I guess so... 🙈



by the way I am getting really really really excited already these days because I will see Deniss live in Grenoble in 2 1/2 weeks... anyone else from here coming as well?
 
I just watched Deniss's performances in Minsk, and I was impressed! Congratulations on the quad, and what wonderful step sequences.

That doll he picked up after the SP looked like him. I wonder if it was handmade.

It was a handmade. It was knitted doll. I've seen it before it was on the ice)

I an going too together with my mother. We are from Latvia, but we are not going just because of Deniss. Of course, for him too, but we also want to see Papadakis/Cizeron, Medvedeva wirh her new "look", Jason Brown and Nathan Chen. We also wanted to see Carolina (at least just as much as P/C and Deniss), but, sadly, she had to witdraw. Anyway, we will probably get a Latvian flag to wave for Deniss.

I will come with my mother as well (from Germany) and Deniss was our reason to go but of course we are also looking forward to many more 😍

I do have a mini Latvian flag already but last weekend I couldn’t help myself and ordered an additional very big Latvian and a Swiss flag! I will write “Team Champery” on the Swiss one and something for Deniss on the Latvian.. still considering ;)

MGStyle and I have already a little Fan-Chat on facebook with a few more people who are coming and maybe, hopefully somehow would like to organize a Fan Meet and Greet with Deniss. (So far no response from Christopher though)
Maybe some of you want to join that conversation there.

-BTW still love your banner- best i’ve seen so far!

Ah huh now I know who you are :laugh: I was going to wait until (or ... if) I hear something from Chris. I will try to ask him next week, after they settle down from the trip back from Japan. So everyone "cautiously stay put", but don't get the expectation TOO high because looking at the schedule, it is really tight. (we wanted a double M&G also with Stephane, and he has to be at the Ladies competition as well because now Matilda Algotsson is competing too) But there MAY be a hole on Sunday, perhaps before the rehearsal for the gala. I will let you all know as soon as I find out something!

In any case, IMO it is quite likely that Deniss might be hanging around the stand while Stephane is coaching Matilda during the Ladies competition. So there maybe a chance to greet/fangirl with him in person, if we choose the moment prudently! :agree:

Haven't been spending as much time on the forum recently, so haven't had a chance to catch up on all the Deniss news. Very excited to see him skate at NHK. For the SP, I see he is in the second group and is skating 8th (at 20:06:30 Japan time). Best of luck to him. I would be so happy if he could get on the podium!

has anyone seen a practice report from Deniss yet? Too bad there won’t be any practice videos...

Btw I am strangely still not really nervous yet...

only angry about the fact that I won’t be able to watch NHK live... Sp because of work, LP because of my own sports training... but it would be too crazy to cancle my training for NHK, live... right guy?? 😆😆🙈

For me I am just thankful that the mens SP, FP are both the last of the day, which falls on a reasonable time here in Europe, at least for a non-morning person like me :o:
 
@icetug: Thanks a lot. my translator isn’t that precise on these tweens.. but as long as I get it Deniss and Steph were haveing a good time. He apparently did a nice 3A3T but skiped the 4T (or did he stumple??)
Afternoon practice should be over by now as well...

@MGStyle: Since I will miss it already when I am at the idf, I will go on Saturday... I have the Eurosportplayer so I will watch both competitions in the afternoon pretending that they are live. Just need to take care that I don’t open any wrong window on my phone that tells me the results🙈

What I became aware of during this season: I actually prefer events that take place during the night in Europe over those that take place during the daytime. at daytime I always have real-life-appointments and almost always miss ut for some reason. (Rostelecom next week will be the same.) Night event?? Perfect ;) I just go to bed earlier and set an alarm ;)
