So Dmitri drew the first starting number for the short program at Junior Nats tomorrow. I hate this...especially since I don't think I can get up that early.

That means he will beat least for some time a leader And I wouldn't be suprised if he stayed leader till the end of SP. I'm dissapointed there is no joint photos with Alisa, but I guess I just need to wait...

Dima is, of course, in first place after the SP I have to say, compared to the rest of the field, he looks extremely mature, definitely in a class of his own. All level 4s today and just a hand down on his combo. Very nice! He says in his interview that he did a 4Lz in practice but isn't ready to put it in the program yet.

While I wish he didn't pop so many jumps, I am glad that he doesn't go into meltdown mode, so in that sense he seems to have made progress. They are considering adding the 4Lz for Junior Worlds. I somehow doubt it, but you never know.

what I really liked is (it was surprising to me b/c he's a juniour!) how he & his skating feels like seniour.
On tv its not really visible & the difference with other skaters was only evident only after I saw him live.
Too bad Lord wasnt there. Id have liked to compare!

I'm a Dima uber so I am obviously biased , but for me the difference was clear even on video. The quality of his jumps and especially his skating skills are definitely superior to the rest of the field. Also interpretation - even though I don't like his LP music, he sells it very well. And the SP is exquisite. He has matured a lot just this season. The only thing that holds him back is his own mind, but he's getting there.

Great job, Dima! He is 1st after SP but Petrov who is 4th is only about 2 points behind him, so, Dima's lead isn't much.

More than anything, I'm glad Dima didn't let the mistake on the quad affect the rest of his program. Dare I say he's actually starting to show some consistency? I'm glad that his beautiful & mature skating won out over the other 2 Russian men despite the lower TES. Hope he can relax a bit and then start working hard at upping the tech content for next season.

Indeed, Bravo Dima!
It definitely looks like he has become a lot more consistent skater. He will surely move to seniors now and if we are lucky we will see him at Euros next season.

They confirm that he will transition to seniors next season. They considered putting 4Lz in the program but decided against it. Probably just as well since he had to go last & it was hard enough to control his nerves.
