Donovan Carrillo

Donovan is hosting a gala show in Monterrey. (His website has had a major upgrade from the GoFundMe Days (naturally), and it looks like Donovan is establishing his own brand(y).

US pairs skaters Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez are confirmed guests. If I was in Monterrey, I would go.

And he appears to have agents (he may have had them all along, but now more prominent?)

The Mexico City altitude would be really tough, but maybe it could be held elsewhere? Not really sure where they have suitable rinks
I hope everything goes well. I believe Valentina plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez
will be the first pairs since 2008 ( jr grand prix mexico)to ever do a live in Mexico, Competition or otherwise. That's awesome.
Maybe they could get Elvis Stojko and his Mexican wife Gladys Orozco to do an exhibition pairs/dance program together :)

I think they would be very well received. The only problem is that many promoters don't want to risk it. They believe figure skating is not very commercial. Maybe Donovan can do another show and invite them and they accept the invitation. That would be cool. As for where they can organize a competition, just last year they opened an Olympic size skating rink in cancun with capacity for 400 seats. The governor of Guadalajara stated he was going to build an ice rink in guadalajara made specifically for winter sports, with Donovan's guidance. Maybe could be there. But to be honest until it is build I will believe him. There is also monterrey where Donovan will do his show, capacity for 500 seats. I am ignorant of the altitude of those cities though.

Elvis was one of my favorite skaters growing up. Together with Kurt, Scott and Kristi Yamagushi.

They held 4CC at Colorado Springs once, so I think the altitude is not necessarily a hard no, although I remember that Colorado 4CC being quite a challenge for some skaters like Boyang Jin. Monterrey would be a bit more doable I think.
Salt Lake City is 4330 ft (1320m)
Colorado Springs is 6035 ft (1839m)
Mexico City is 7350 ft (2240m)

Skaters did have some problems with altitude in SLC. CS is worse (I remember wondering if Daisuke Takahashi would need help getting off the ice, and many other skaters felt the altitude). Mexico City would be MUCH worse than CS.

Out of interest, I looked up the altitude of Obertdorf. It is piddling compared to the other locations mentioned (2674 ft or 815m). In fact its nearest neighbor peak, the Nebelhorn, is slightly lower than Mexico City.

Alexandra trusova did a gala there in Queretaro. I don't believe she mentioned having any problems, but every skater is affected differently. And there are so few articles about the Mexican open to know for sure. It would be nice though to have 4cc in Mexico. I do wonder the reasons why they don't. Is it the altitude, money, maybe the ice is not good enough? I don't know. I mean they are able to host Fifa world cup including renovating the stadium for it. I guess they have different priorities.

Most events require a lot of volunteers. I wonder if they would be able to get the required amount of volunteers.
