Dreams on Ice 2025

Thank you! Catching my eye immediately is Yuma's SP. Brings me back memories of the Michael Buble Smile SP at the last Olympics (and even his scrapped Take Five SP from that same season), but is so much more elevated. He has the jumps and the skating skills to carry this type of music off, and this is the unique Yuma joyful charm that I saw back in 2022 that sets him apart from his more... er... intense predecessors. I hope this program can set him up nicely among the shuffle that is the top men.

Edited to add: I love the shirt, it's so chill and silly and it adds to the duality between the insane skating skills and the light unserious air the program has... I kinda hope Yuma keeps it, but he already said he has a costume being made, sigh.

Just had time to watch Shun and wooooooooooooooooooooow. Really hoping he stays healthy because his FS is just really... an old school classical program that I really, really love. I was thinking from last season that Shun's skating is really growing to have the presence and weight to match the big, emotional classical pieces, and the partnership with Guillaume Cizeron really worked off after the last few years, he looks so polished. I don't mind that the costume is less Firebird-y, it makes the program more classy.

I feel like it's hard for me to watch Kaori's and Wakaba's SP programs objectively because all I want to do is cry, LOL. They really have come so far since the first time I saw them both as skaters and people 😭 it's been an honor to follow their careers. I'm totally on board with the music selections and the way they skated it because it really is just about them and their connection with skating and nothing else.

I was not expecting such a serious, heavy music for Mone, but I guess I was thinking about Mai's lighter, dreamier exhibition when I heard it was going to be "Sakura, Sakura" ? Her skating is so lovely, and the program is so serious. It's early enough for me to not really know what to feel about it, but it's intriguing!

Rino's skating is lovely, but right now the SP looks so obvious as a refitted FS... the elements are fitted clunkily and it's missing the je ne sais quoi the FS has. Although if this can help her be more consistent in SP I guess it is what it is 😭

@synesthesia Thank you so much for sharing videos! ❤️

I knew I should've checked this thread before recording and uploading 😅
If anyone is interested, I also have the Opening and Finale numbers as well as Jingu Ice Messengers' performance uploaded and ready to post

A few things to add~

Not sure if anyone noticed or has mentioned on social but when Shun got off the ice after the Finale he had his right foot raised and Yuma was helping to support him.
If his withdrawal from the final show was due to injury I pray it's not too serious

Yuma was fabulous!...but I DESPISE that program for him!
IMO, he didn't look slick and cool...just...greasy...
I don't want to see Yuma do his best "Kazuki", I want to watch Yuma to do his best Yuma

Speaking of Kazuki, as always, LOVE his StSq! 🤩
He should really consider doing Solo Dance too!

And Thank the Skating Gods Kaori has a standard Kaori program!
So freakin' relieved

Wonderful to see another Sendai kid going for Firebird!
With Shun being a known and devoted fan of Yuzu, his picking up of the program so strongly associated with his idol, and for the Olympic season, might be seen as more than just a pure coincidence... Maybe tribute, maybe inspiration?
And a great version it is! Wishing him health most of all, and a great success with it no less!! May it be a token of good luck for him!!!

Ooooo Kazuki has a really nice program + music combination. I'll give it time to marinate, his showmanship qualities definitely shines through and the step sequence is a highlight, but I think his skating presence + power is still a bit thin in places especially with this type of relentless deep beats throughout. Love the jump in the tempo during the step sequence.

I've seen so many people say they sense Kazuki vibes on Yuma's programme, and it's so interesting to me considering that Lori got to work with Kazuki for the first time last season. I wouldn't be surprised if he left quite an impression on her!

But I agree, the cheeky persona doesn't come as naturally to Yuma. His skills are obviously awesome but the programme feels a bit forced to me.

I think that it's quite normal in June/July? Usually, even the best performers need a bit more time to "inhabit" their programs, usually by the start of the Grand Prix season, some as early as the first Challengers?

Thank you!

@synesthesia thank you so much :love2:

You're very welcome! :)

I'm sorry @tsuyoboogie that you went to all the trouble of cutting and uploading the videos - I know how time-consuming that is. 🥺 And you do this all the time with all of the Japanese competitions, which I - and I'm sure many others here - am immensely greatful for.
