Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev

I welcome their return, even if it means my Shibsibs might lose out on a GPF spot (though I'm hoping with the material they have, they'll continue to progress). Ideally I'd like both of them there.
But I like that B/S do not resort to sappy romantic programs...and that they don't make being romantic or sexy a necessary requirement for ID success.

I am in the minority that I don't think Papadakis/Cizeron will dominate the entire quad. I think we'll see a lot of shuffling among the top teams, like we saw in the last quad beyond Davis and White and Virtue and Moir

The Shibutanis had some major drops, which is often noted, but the rest of the teams had some swings as well, just not as drastic.

Sorry for the slight OT, but point is that I agree with you Snow, that B/S could shake things up next season.

Next season Shibs' free dance have a potential to be top level, unlike their last three dances (I'm sorry , Mrs P.). So who knows? I want to see them both at GPF over C/L.
 
I was disappointed - we've heard so much about how she made improvements training on her own, but they are still so far apart and she's piked at the waist more than ever. Still, it's still the off season and they have time to work on things.

Exactly my thoughts. Dima don't look good either, but at least he was injured :) Okay, I need to stop worrying, they still have time.
 
My question is why are they doing catch foot twizzles that they routinely struggle with. Is there no other way to get a level 4? I am not familiar with the rule changes.
 
They could do attitude twizzles or sit twizzles or leg stuck out to the side twizzles as part of getting level 4. But rotational speed and forward distance covered can be maximized with holding the foot twizzle. And those are still part of figuring out the GOE.

Thanks. The judges last year seemed to give higher GOE's for unison and sophistication (smoothness and neatness of presentation). I'd have thought that their coaches would have realized that. Hopefully though it'll look better with time.

Okay, some news about their calendar:
1. They're going to skate at open test skate 12-13th of Sept. at Sochi.
2. Their first competition will be Russian Cup at Samara (yay! I'll be there) at 17-21 of Sept.

And Dima said they will participate in every competition that fits their schedule. I guess we'll see them a lot before the GP series.

I totally agree with this--even without the stats to back it up. P/C had a marvelous FD in a very mediocre year. I think you will see at least the teams you listed all battling it out. Gilles and Poirier might be included in that list, if they continue to progress as they have. Same goes for B/S's compatriots Y/M. It isn't a quad where there will be two dominant teams on top and about 5 battling it out for the final group. It's going to be much closer than that methinks--even for B/S.

And yes, I do like that B/S doesn't resort to sappy romance. I'm already bored with the Montreal school of goo.
 
Glad to see them back. It was hard to evaluate the program from this camera angle - we'll have to wait until there are other views to see how everything really is. Considering they haven't competed since Sochi, this was a pretty good showing. Obviously there's work to do, but I hope they stay healthy.
 
Yes! It might be my fave from the test skates and that's coming from a Ruslena stan. And they look almost upright 😂 or am I imagining things?
 
I liked as well. Waltz part looked very good but second part is too dark for me. Still other than twizzles they looked very good.
 
I still think it's a blessing that she doesn't die at the end of any programmes this season though :laugh: I was very afraid of that, but come both Karenina and Romeo&Juliet and she's still alive when the dances finish
 
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their new SD!!!! It's so cool, classic with very nice choreo, I like new lift too. The only thing I don't like if the first set of twizzles, this position is no good. And they cONSTANTLY are making mistakes on second set, I think this position is not very good for them too.
But overall I'm satisfied, I really think it's best SD so far, certainly better than Hubbel/Donohue and Gilles/Poirier ones.:agree:

yep, me too, an ardent SD and a lyrical FD, what more can I possibly ask for :cheer: and Dima looks really stable, he doesn't struggle with lifts anymore.
