Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev | Page 30 | Golden Skate

Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev

And I still cringe at Weaver/Poje having higher mark for skating skills  I don't care about other components, but in SS? Really? What a joke.

yep, that's ridiculous.
By the by, I confess now that I read Anna Karenina only because they chose this story, I didn't watch the movie, I only watch the Mariinsky ballet version :laugh2:
also, please Snow63, I want to ask that RusFed didn't abandon them did they? Sinitsina and Katsalapov skated a weaker FD at SA last week and got 99, Katya and Dima only got 96. I think the standing at 3rd is okay (Shibsibs was very good and that was Canadian home ice), but only 161 in total is, like, very underscored indeed.

This is EXACTLY my thoughts. It was spectacle on ice, EVERYTHING from starting poses to ending poses is a part of the story of Anna Karenina. And I love how the dance starts and ends to the sounds of the train. I suspect very few people have read the book.
I doubt people have. My copy is 5 cm thick with almost 1000 pages - it looks like an Encyclopaedia, and it required time and energy to understand it thoroughly. I don't think people nowadays have time for that, that's why they can't appreciate Katya and Dima's choreography properly - I guess. :hopelessness:

Everybody has time to read if they love and want. That is completely irrelevant how many pages of the book, in my opinion. :)

This is SO nice to hear, honest! I'm sure they would be happy to know that. And also I'm sure you will not be dissapointed, although the story is difficult to understand for some people, especially for those who's not Russians or who knows very small about Russian history and culture. Please, share your opinion with us when you finished :)

Edit: oh, and I forgot. Do not watch the movie :furious:

Well, it's too soon to say anything for sure. The Federation is not stupid, you know? They will push the teams who can skate cleanly CONSISTENTLY. But Sinitsina/Katsalapov is very dangerous team. Nikita is very good dancer, definitely Soloviev's caliber. Ruslan is a bit weaker than them, but he's improving very fast, AND he has Elena, who's definitely Bobrova's caliber skater too. They weakest spot from them all is Sinitsina, and she's VISIBLY weaker. she's slower, less artistic and she has very poor knee-work (she's improving though).
One event can not answer any questions, it's just ridiculous to assume it did. I'm sure Ilinykh/Zhiganshin will not score much higher than this two teams, but they have an edge, they're National champions, last season GPF qualifiers. People forget Bobrova/Soloviev missed 1.5 seasons due to his injury, then surgery and recovery. He still feels the pain, in fact. People on this board say they practiced these dances for a year, which is ********. They started full on practices only this summer, re-worked their FD to make it more comfortable for Dima's leg and their SD is new completely. They doesn't have any advantage in front of Ilinykh/Zhiganshin and Sinitsina/Katsalapov, who SKATED full last season! It's quite opposite actually. So my point is who's gonna be more consistent will be #1 Federation's priority. Dima and Katia need to continue to skate clean, that's the only way to get to the top for them. No one will gift anything to them. Same goes for Ilinykh/Zhiganshin and Sinitsina/Katsalapov.

Thank you so much Snow63, really. (actually I hope that Ilinykh and Zhiganshin would get 100 something at CoC for their FD, I dont like the idea of Sinitsina/Katsalapov have the best debut score :slink: )

100 something is quite possible. Depends on the strictness of the panel.
And you're welcome :)

Agree 100%. And why not...according to Faulkner it is the best novel ever written. After the movie came out, the book was one of the bestsellers.

I think it is anyone's game between B/S, S/K, I/Z for Russian No. 1.
They are all about the same level, but B/S have more possibility of improving than the other 2 as they are coming back from injury.
So B/S could still win by Nationals. I hope so as I really like them.

I love them, I really do, but I can't help being happy for the Shibs! What a comeback!!! Over 10 points more in the FD since Nepela!

But there is a moral there: these days, dance scores can go up precipitately between events, both SD and FD, so I have high hopes for Bobrova & Soloviev's next outing. This time they got the World's TES scores and a bronze medal. Next time, better!

While the movie is not the book, anyone who even saw the movie has to know that Katya and Dima did a mavelous job of putting the whole story there on the ice. If you don't cry at the end as her spirit tries to shield Dima from seeing her mangled body, and then fades away, you don't have a heart.

It is superb!

Yesterday was a 15 years anniversary of their team! This is amazing, to be honest.

Very nice interview after Skate Canada: http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/1368-ek...nkij-shazhok-v-nashej-obnovlennoj-karere.html

Again they said how difficult it was for them to skate there, and how they were nervous before SD and FD. Dima even said he slept badly during last two weeks, always though how about their international return! Also Katia said very warm words about Weaver and Poje, how they were happy for them, their return, and watched their practices, supported and cheered for them. She was very touched by these gestures :)

Katia is not pleased with their free skate, mostly about an emotional aspect. She said they skated on pure adrenaline, but she hopes they'll improve at NHK. It'll be easier for them, because the nervousness of the first competition after return will be in the past. Dima said he's absolutely drained emotionally, but is very happy. :) And I'm happy for them too!

I agree with all of this Snow63.

Wow, 15 years! Congrats to them. And this is nothing new, but they seem like really lovely people.

from Katya's insta page with a lot of love happy 15th anniversary :3
I really admire their friendship and partnership, the brother-sister-like bond they share, so adorable

To those who do not understand, a somewhat loose translation of the message:

"Today our pair turns 15! Yay! Throughout these years we‘ve been through thick and thin, holding on to each other. We‘ve gone through injuries, bitter defeats and wonderful victories! We know each other through and through. And it is impossible to describe the happiness I feel having someone like Dima around to support me. I‘m proud of my partner! I love him a lot! And I hope that many more happy moments are in store for us during our competitive career! I want to wish us health, God‘s blessing and a little bit of luck :) Thank you to all who have been supporting our team! It‘s really important to us!"

Sorry for any mistakes, neither language is my mother tongue :o:
