Saddest, tragic news of the season for me. On Dima's instagram he says she's innocent (Google translate though) and that she needs our support.

But this is the team doctor not so? I hope for her sake she is proven innocent without a shadow of a doubt, because Russia's reputation in the sporting world is getting spottier by the millisecond.

I'm of two minds.

First, I'm thinking she is a very popular athlete why would she do it? She's seen first hand the repercussions for the Russian athletes caught in the current doping scandal, right? Why would an athlete as smart as her take this drug 24 hrs before competition?

OTOH my other worry is this. The drug was banned in other countries, why take the risk of having it any at all in her system, isn't Dmitry the injured party?

No doubt, I believe her! This sounds like a stereotype, but we all know what Russia's been up to in various sports over the decades. Don't get me wrong, I do love Russian skaters, and Katja and Dima are amongst them. But I'm always sceptical. They can't find out what's wrong with Fedor Klimov??
Anyway, I absolutely loved how Dima came out in support of Katja today and what blew my mind was that all the youngsters (including Lena and Zheniya) came out in their support, without fear of any possible repercussions for their own career. Fantastic! The power of youth!

this could be a communication problem with administering and updating banned drugs
