The element sheets are posted up on ice network. Caroline, Joannie, and Cynthia all have 7 triples planned and Alissa has a 3T-3T planned in the LP. It also looks like Evan will be keeping the quad for this competition. Any thoughts/comments?

Wow, this may turn out to be more exciting than I have thought. Go Alissa!

Here's icenetwork's event page which has the program sheets: http://web.icenetwork.com/events/detail.jsp?id=48128

So Caroline is doing what Feraina noted that she did at Golden West, a 3Lo in the SP and two 3Lo's and a 3S in the LP. She may have moved her three jump combo from her 1st 3Lo to her 2nd 3Lo for questionable reasons, which is the only nitpick I have with the jump layout design. Caroline plans to end her LP with a flying sit spin followed by a layback spin rather than a layback spin followed by a combination spin. A layback spin also ends her SP.

Rochette is planning to do a 3F+3T combo in the SP. I imagine that her chances of getting credit for it are good, at least eventually. I don't like the design of her LP. She doesn't plan on doing a 3F+3T combo but instead a 3T+3S sequence.

What is with Carolina's planned elements? Do they have to submit what they are attempting? Her programs seems bizarre. She doesn't have any jumps planned in the second half of her program.

I don't think that is unusual. In fact, many skaters are putting their jumps in the first half of their short program, perhaps to save their energy for difficult step sequence. Also, they don't get bonus points in the short program for doing jumps toward the end, if I'm not mistaken.

I agree about the SP, but the element sheets do have glitches. Not a single element is listed for Brandon Mroz in the men's singles. But surely he's going to do more than show up and look pretty ;)

Carolina has only 6 jump passes listed for the FS. There is some weird code on her sheet about "element not found." Probably a data entry error on the 7th pass.

Sergei Voronov has a solo 3T listed for his opening FS jump. This isn't plainly wrong like the other things, but I rather suspect it should be a 4T.

Are skaters required to submit an element sheet? Maybe Mroz didn't. Rena and John's sheets were blank last week too(undecided about trying the axel, perhaps?)

Why is that a nitpick? The 3 jump combo most likely is in the 2nd half of the program and therefore worth more points! :)

Carolina's elements for LP look a bit bizarre. She lists 2F as a solo jump. I do not think that this would be correct.

BTW, she's not going to do 3f-3t-2r. This seems to be replaced with 2a-3t-2r. I liked the former very much though. It had such a WOW factor! But she still has 3f-3t!

I agree. According to the sheet, Shawn Sawyer is scheduled to do two 3-Axels on their own in his LP, but obviously one of them has to be in combination.

Right, the 1st 3Lo might be just before the halfway point. Also, perhaps Caroline is leaving that middle section free so she can later add a triple+3Lo combo. I just don't like the three jump combo being the last jumping pass when the skater will be the most fatigued.

Oops I forgot to post the link, sorry about that and thank you ChrisH for posting it.
You're welcome. :agree:

Elena Glebova has a savvy planned program. She has two 2A+3T's in the LP which allows her to do a six triples plus three 2A's program. Including the SP, she plans on doing on four 3T's overall.

Even though the T.Toe - T.Salchow Seq. is undervalued, I'm still glad Rochette is performing it. It's my personal favorite jump combo!

Gotta give Glebova credit, gotta love her D.axle - T.Toe combos which is rarely done well.

Sequences have been done too jarringly for my tastes. Perhaps Joannie will perform one with more flow. I even prefer the combos with 2 3-turns in between over the sequences I've seen. I should've added that it's smart of Rochette to do the 2A+2A sequence. I think we'll see that planned by more ladies if the 2A continues to be over-valued at 3.5 points.

I have seen Vahamaa's world ranking recently, yet I was still surprised that she is in the 2nd group and is the 4th to last lady to start the SP. Her planned LP is modest with her repeated triples being the flip and toe-loop. She'll need to be clean to hold off the ladies ranked below her.

I believe that's considered too much of a break between the two jumps under the current rules. If a skater does that now, it will be considered as 2 separate jumping passes. For example, the 3toe-multiple steps-3Salchow Sasha Cohen used to do is not considered a sequence now. The jumps can only be separated by 1 hop/step like a half loop or how Joannie goes right from the landing of her 1st 2Axel immediately into the 2nd one.

It can be a combination if there is an accidental double three between the elements but the GOE is required to be -2 or -3
