I&K splitting
B&S not competing and this was their last competition together.
Shib's splitting
S&Z splitting.
P&B last competition

Hey, so maybe my faves Weaver/Poje will finally start medalling!

She is like what? Nineteen? Are you kidding me? Getting married and retiring at 19???
Normal life? At nineteen? And what is a "normal life"? Lots of kids, kitchen, church and abusive drunk husband? She can do it after thirty, but not at nineteen!
This is the worst news ever! I understand there must be some reason for splitting, but retiring because of that???

I want a T-shirt with the bolded quote. Nicely phrased, CezarMart
Sorry for the lame joke, but I/K split is so depressing I need some humour.

Woah, wait:

I'm missing something ... I thought they just withdrew due to injury. What does "this was their last competition together" mean? That they're going to split up afterward? Someone link me please! Too many posts to keep up!!

It's an error. B&S are still together but withdrew due to Soloviev's groin injury. I'm not sure about the Shibs splitting either. News this big would dominate the forums but Alba's comment is the only one I've seen that mention the dissolution of B&S and the Shibs.

As for the others, they're retiring, not splitting. They might still skate together in shows.

The Shibs had said for the record that they are not sure if they're returning next season; see the article I posted earlier on this thread. It's not definite, but certainly it sounds like they are considering their options.

It is not idiomatic, but it will give you a good rough approximation of what was said. Most of it is typical, We came here to win, but what was interesting (if I read it right) was Fabian said they got involved with an exhibition tour after the Olympics and didn't really train their SD, but did train the FD. Really, the only pertinent quote is about I/K. What he said in essence is that the top five couples are very close point-wise, but I/K may not have the morale to skate well because I found out on Friday that K wants to end the partnership and she was in tears. Oh, and that everyone knew that K wants a new partner--except I.

And in next week's episode...

Really this is a Soap Opera par excellence!

Yes, here is the quote:
Because of an error, the Russians Ilinykh-Katsalapov, who had won the Olympic bronze medal, are that fifth...
They can go up but they do not necessarily have the morale. Especially Elena! It was the big drama today (Friday). She was in tears upon learning that Nikita wants to skate with another partner. Everyone knew it but her.

lol nathalie spilling the beans everywhere, thanks gurl

i wonder if the drama nathalie talks about happened before or after the sd

Nathalie shedding a little bit of light. Bless her for the info, but it's definitely going to be awkward to hear about.
This is really turning into a skating movie though. Someone write a screenplay based off this, it'll be huge.

Thanks Mrs P... a lot of talk about the Shibs but rarely do people produce actual direct sources:)
