But I think that coach is here to learn you skate and dance on the first place, not to make suitable clothes and make-up. I can hardly think that Zueva is coordinating clothing and make-up of Meryl and Tessa while both girls have different style of clothing and make-up and hairstyle.

I think you are wrong. Some coaches and choreographers come up with programs and they have exact ideas how the skater presenting the program should look. Exact ideas about the dress, make up and hair. I remember that Bobrova said in one of the interviews soon after she swapped coaches that finally she can do with her hair whatever she wants to. She indicated that with her previous coaches she did as she was told. Wore what they told her to wear, put her hair up because she was told to do so... I don't think you can measure everything according to Elena Ilynikh because Elena is quite a trendy girl and I don't think she would allow anyone to dictate her what to wear, how to do her hair and what make up to use. (some people are naturally assertive and would not let others make those decision, whereas Bobrova was with those coaches from young age and it was somehow established that they did the decisions in this regard).

I think you may be wrong about Zoueva too... I am sure she has some input into what costumes the skaters wear. I remember seeing a clip with Savchenko-Szolkowy; S-S were preparing for this last season, wearing their new costumes on the ice while Steuer and about three more people were watching and suggesting what changes should be done on those new costumes. (I think one of the changes was that the skirt should be slightly shorter, and if I recall properly there was too much white in their costumes or something like that). And S-S are a pair, so the clothes are not as important as it would be in dance.

lol that was from an event they went to with Lipnitskaya, it was for the Olympic medalists, that woman is a tv presenter and there were lots of pictures of them all together at the event like this - http://instagram.com/p/lfe5qPmS5D/. A clip her in the car was shown on the news as well, it was all part of the "look what the Olympians did and the rewards they get" angle. It means nothing.

Hang on. At this rate of going, how many Dance couples are Russia going to have that are eligible to compete next season?!

So, rather than a direct swap, Nikita could now be paired up with another Kazakh.

Right, this is what I wrote this morning based on what I read last night:


I've lost count of all the emotions I have felt since the news was confirmed.

Obviously, I am delighted and relieved that Lena and Nikolai have split up, and that they are not going to be working with each other any more.

On the other hand, I am very worried about Viktoria. Like, as has already been pointed out, she is exactly Morozov's type - young and very beautiful.

Like everybody else on here, I am angry that 2 of Russia's top Dance partnerships are now ending because the coach of one of them can't seem to keep it in his pants.

Given the complicated personal relations between Ilinykh, Katsalapov and Morozov, I can't see a future where all three continue to work together.

But, a thing I can't understand is why Sinitsina and Zhiganshin have to be split up as well to provide Elena and Nikita with new partners.

I just went onto Ice Partner search, and in 2 seconds found 2 very good female Russian Ice Dancers that Nikita could easily be teamed up with - Maria Simonova and Valeriya Starygina.

That said, I wouldn't want either of them near Morozov, either!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any suitable alternative partners for Elena. There were only 2 Russian guys on Ice Partner Search, and they are both much younger than her. And there are no Kazakh Dancers on there at all.

But, I'm sure there are lots of guys in either country that would jump at the chance to dance with her. ;)

So, when there are good dancers out there that are currently looking for a partner, why split up a young couple that have been together for years and are now reaping the fruits of their labours?


I have just read pages 51 and 52 of this thread which have appeared since I started typing this (I broke off to watch the soaps on TV!). And I am completely lost! :confused:

Are the things discussed on these 2 pages for real?! Because they sound straight out of soapland! :eek:

I wouldn't save this team at all! They couldn't even work together to medal at NHK trophy! They were 4th at a gp event getting mostly level 2's! They can't work together. There is no trust. At euros Elena fell because she was watching Nikita do his twizzles becaus of no trust! Everyone said it at the time. It's too bad if they are forced to be with people they hate and or don't trust.

Elena is gorgeous and could work as a model just as easily, if not more easily considering her ties to the fashion world, than Victoria.
Besides, Elena was the entire reason I personally enjoyed I/K. Not everything is about looks. There's this thing called skill that slightly matters as well...

And neither Nikita or Elena have said anything. I'm waiting for their final word on it, even if it's unlikely they'll stay together.

Elena HAS said that on April 4 at their medical examination he told her he would not skate with her anymore, and that it was entirely his decision, and that she will go forward with Ruslan. I don't know what more you can be waiting for one of them to say. SHe also has said she's in limbo and evidently they are meeting with the federation soon, but to me, what he told her is not ambiguous.

so I think its Nikita who spread the rumors himself or with the help of convincing from Morozov
Im fine with Sinitsina skating with Nikita, she is just as pretty and talented as Elena
just don't want Morozov in the long term equation

Yes. It sounds like he made his decision, but her comments imply that she would carry on with him if he changed his mind. But I doubt he will, even though he should come crawling back on his knees if he wants success in the future. I still don't understand why he & Sinitsina are yet to say anything if it's all out in the press and the decision was made nearly 4 days ago now. The federation say they haven't even received any notification.

That's what disgusts me the most about this entire thing. Elena might have been a drama queen per what I've read, but this is a new low. I feel especially bad for poor Ruslan, who had no part in any of this happening.
