I was planning to go but something came up and now I can't :(

Also I won't be able to watch SD tomorrow (luckily???), but at least I can watch the FD and the Gala!

Wow. Very benign and fair tech panel. Expecting a lot of level 3s and 4s for the patterns haha...

I don't know if it's benign. I don't know the japanese tech. specialist but Poltorak is said to be strict and Pedrazzini although had good words for IZ last season he's italian and he's a big CL fan so I'm not expecting favours from the tech.panel. I'll be happy if the tech.panel is fair, it's the judges that I'm curious to see because last season some top couples did benefit from the GoE's despite having lower BV on the TES.

This is how I feel to. I expect the panel to be as fair as could realistically be hoped (as I keep saying lol) but strict. The judges at this one are the more interesting story to me.

Only about an hour until Ruslena skate!! I am so excited! :hap10:

And I'm half hour late for work because I thought Ruslena is gonna skate at 8am with my time. :hopelessness:
Fingers crossed. Skate well and give your best Ruslena! :2thumbs:

It was OK, not as good as MO - I was really worried about the lift for a moment! They need to work on cleaning up the ravensburger waltz, I think that is where they lost TES. And I'm a little concerned about the PCS, they need more speed.

I'm not so concerned actually, I think this was okay... I'll have to see the protocols. I actually think performance-wise this is the best they've done it.

They were cleaner to my eye tgan MO especially in transitions and the twizzles were amazing! Love these guys, they have a tough field here..

My problem is they should be second and scored closer to C/L. When you can't nail your twizzles- a la Chock and Bates you should not be put that far ahead. This is why ice dance doesn't get taken seriously. I'm not worried because Frida is strong.

Actually they hit their levels pretty much. Level 3 for both patterns, level 4 twizzles and lift, level 3 for patial steps (which is that everyone gets). They lost on GOE and big on PCS especially to C/B (about 4 points). Their SD is not so well received internationally so far. After Rostelecom cup maybe they should really reconsider it IMO. I like it but I can see why many people don't.

Performances, just let them give the performances. Just let Frida be absolutely great.

Maybe.

If I/Z are third here, I am secretely wishing for generous scores for Russian teams at Rostelecom (sorry W/P and C/L)

And I actually think their SD was cleaner here, cleaner transitions. The lack of GOE is killing me and C/B's PCS, god...

Looking at their PCS, there seems to be a lack of consensus among the judges, whether it's because they're iffy about the SD or because ruslena skated earlier than C/L and C/B I don't know. One judge even gave them a 6.50, but other judges gave them 9s.

This definitely seems to be the strictest panel. C/L's winning SD score would have barely put them ahead of the Shibs at SC. Its also the closest event, 2.85 points separates 1st from 3rd. We'll see what happens in the FD tomorrow.

Yeah, I meant that the RW didn't look as sharp or sweeping as other teams & the free legs were a bit sloppy, and so they lost ground on the GOE, leading to lower overall TES (I'm complaining but they were still 2nd in the TES!). And I think looking a bit tight on the RW also contributed to lower PCS.

Nathalie on French Eurosport was most excited about I/Z before the event, she thinks they have all the potential, but after their performance she said they should think about changing the SD, because it "confuses people", and I have to say I agree with her. All the credit for trying to do something different, and if it was a year when you could just do a waltz without another rhythm I think STL could work really well, but after two events this dance is just not working for me. They've had to add extra beats under both pieces, & it needs to be freer and wilder and you can't do that within the requirements for this seasons SD. Maybe something to think about after CoR.

Here's to a clean strong performance tomorrow! :cheer:
