Okay, guys. Back to Ruslena.
With all these talks about other teams fan fest threads I noticed how actually popular I/Z are on this board, this thread have more than 500.000 views!!! It's actually amazing for such a new couple, IMO. Why do you think they became this popular in such short amount of time?

I don't see the problem in comparing I/Z to other teams. B/S's progress is relevant to me, they're ruslena's biggest competition for Russian #1, and so speculating on if or when ruslena can beat them is very much relevant. I would like to discuss the probability of Ruslena beating certain teams or how they will place at certain competitions, and I don't find it off topic at all.

Actually...all of you just made my case...also I don't think Alba or Bramweld read my original post on BS because for the record I never made any comments about IZ....I like IZ which is why I was here....my mistake was to comment on BS SD as part of an already existing discussion which I thought waso quite acceptable...sorry you guys found it so threatening...

Because NO ONE DUMPS ELENA ILLINKH LOL! Honestly, this is just a very likeable team with great chemistry and sure there's a considerable amount of drama associated with them but watching them grow is also fascinating and very promising. They were the most exciting thing about Russian ID last season.

I suggest those who want to discuss I/Z in relation to other Russian dance teams and international competitors take it to the "State of Russian ice dance" thread so as to avoid more pointless sniping about what you can and can't say about Elena and Ruslan in a fan thread.

I think part of IZ popularity had to do with the fact that people loved the idea of the dumped partners skating together. The other thing is of course that they are two skaters who draw you in, they have the ability to make people smile and cry. They are creating magic when they dance and this does not happen with other teams.

I wasn't very much into FS before this season (I watched Sotnikova win the OGM and Lipnitskaya the Euro gold medal), but when I found out about Carmen at Cup of Russia and then the story behind the two I was instantly sold! I'm sure I'm not the only one who got into FS and especially ID because of them.

You again make our case. There are two other relevant threads where you may comment on B/S. 1. The State of Russian Ice Dancing and 2. The B/S thread, even the new programs thread. The issue is YOU are interested in B/S. For the record whether B/S beat them or not is not an issue. I don't really care much for B/S as do others in this thread but I love me some I/Z and that is the sole reason I post in this thread. Period. I remember you know when I first saw B/S this season I was tempted to write something negative about them, because they just don't do it for me. I originally wrote it in their thread and then I said no, this isn't the right place. I deleted the comment and went instead to the new program thread. So what we're asking you to do isn't something we haven't done ourselves. This is an I/Z thread and they were not the ones competing today. So I hope you understand where we are coming from. Please when they complete their FD today, we don't really want to hear about it in the I/Z fan thread. If we're curious we'll go to the appropriate thread. How B/S does has nothing to do with how I/Z will do. How I/Z perform on any given day will determine their own success. Trust me if I/Z do well we're not going to run to the B/S thread to tell you all about it. Why should we?

There is nothing wrong with respectful discussion of other teams, particularly ones that are likely to be direct competition to I/Z.

Alright then, as you wish. But just so as you know this is an I/Z thread, so we're not obligated to have the same appreciation for B/S or any other pair if we don't care about them. So as long as we can also speak freely about what we don't care for in these other teams in the I/Z thread, I can play along . Remember this is not a B/S, I/Z and S/K fan thread. Is this okay with you both, uhh and tvuckic16?

I want them to do an Argentine tango themed free dance. I think it will look Very natural, with Elena s passionate style and all. Kustarova showed she can do An AMAZING tango dance with Anna and Sergey. Maybe Olympic season....

Do you have any music ideas for the Midnight Blues?

I love La Bayadere, but I'm not sure it's a ballet that really lends itself to ice dance - maybe you should do something using the Kingdom of the Shades, and if any skater could make a program to Danse des Foulards work I'd love them forever. If we're going down the ballet route however, I'd love a Manon program - using the bedroom pas de deux & the final pas de deux. But I agree, anything ballet inspired is still probably a couple of seasons off.

I really really want a tango to When Doves Cry, but they'd be wise to leave the Spanish/Latin themes alone for a season.

I'm mostly trying not to get too attached to any Midnight Blues music before ISU announces the requirements and crushes all my hopes and dreams! Kind of like what happened this year....

I have a feeling the Olympic SD will be the Argentine tango, but if not that could be a nice FD.

Manon could be lovely, maybe after 2018? I'm trying to decide what I want them to do next season. They'll probably want to leave any Spanish/Latin themes alone next season, I agree, maybe they could do something more lyrical, to work on their line? I want something completely different to their previous programs too, so maybe lay off the drama. What do you guys think, any suggestions?

I don't see why she absolutely couldn't do it again, but they'd have to be VERY careful that the dance looked and felt much different than the one she did before.
