Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I love the very rare occasions that we get to hear from Ruslan - he might be more quiet than Elena, but he obviously thinks very deeply about their partnership & everything that they do together. And you're right about the man-as-muse, I don't think we've seen anyone doing that before! Even D/S's Frida wasn't about that relationship.
I think he was a bit overwhelmed with all the attention last year, but it seems to me that he's learned to take it in stride by now. At any rate, he gave two interviews earlier this season, after the test skates, if I remember correctly, and two more now, after their first competition. So it seems to me that they're doing the media work 50-50 now. And I'm also glad about it. They both are highly intelligent, very personable and likeable people who aren't afraid to speak their minds; so I enjoy getting both their perspectives.

Didn't they got +70 last season, before CoC if I'm not mistake, in Italy? I thought it was LT, my mistake. I took C&L but I can take other couples as well and it doesn't matter what competition. That's my main point.

I got what you mean and as I said, I do agree with you :) Just wanted to clarify, that your example wasn't the best, that's all.

It was a small local competition in Italy, called Ice Dance National Competition or something (not the real Nationals which is in December).

I found it! It was this. Their scores were huge  And judges were more than generous in PCS department.... Comapred to this Ruslena is undrescored

I agree! I am so happy to get to hear from both of them!

Backlash already for Lena's calling out the press for their antics. Haha. What a petty set. I want to know what they would print about them if they actually medal at both Europeans and Worlds? These people obviously don't understand who they're dealing with. Bring it on I'd say!!!

???
He said they have a complex program, but he was pleased with how they did in their first competition & now it's important that they compete as much as possible so they get get more comfortable in their roles and fully express all the emotions of the program. But he's very pleased with them and is sure the program will only get better.

What Najarro said was fine. It's the title of the article that I found jarring. They failed in their first performance? But who knows, to those who are given great talent, much is expected.

I think it's best not to read into the title- I really don't think it's backlash, I think it's just a 'sensational' title so they can get clicks on the internet.

There is nothing sensational in the title. It translates as "Ilinykh and Zhiganshin chose a difficult programs but it turned out well"

My mistake, google chrome is my default browser, and that is the title I see. But at the end of the day, it's not really important.

It shows as failed on mine too but I definitely trust a Russian speaker over google, thanks for the info Abraxis12345.

Google translation:
Ilyina / Zhiganshin chose a complex program, but the first tournament they failed - Najarro

real translation:
Ilynikh / Zhiganshin chose a complex program, but in the first tournament they succeeded - Najarro

Feel free to ask for a translation if you feel something's wrong. Don't trust google.
