Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

That`s my opinion, too. I should stop reading too much into what certain poster write

They are ambitious. Their programs this season showed that much and perhaps they were shocked with the reaction of the judges because they were convinced they could make the big break this season. They went for the win this season. Maybe too much or too soon, in a way.

I remember that when IK left Zhulin, there was a pretty big push from the Fed and parents behind the coaching change. I guess if there is a change, we will find out in a few weeks.

I think we'll have to wait for that. They will be a reserve. I don't think they can make or announce any changes soon.

What results needs Russia achieve at Worlds to get back 3 spots for next season?

I'm sorry if this is not the right thread for this question but I think you will best understand why I'm asking this ;)

The two teams competing need to finish so that their combined placements are 13 or less. Never be afraid to ask a question:)

I'm just wondering- who could they go to? What is their best viable option?

Every top coach has a top team, the exception is Platov. Zueva and Zhulin are obviously out of question. Platov would probably take them, but he hasn`t the political power Shpilband has, but they would get his 100% attention. Krylova would maybe take them since she has already said in a few interviews that she would like to work more with Russian teams and Camerlengo is a great choreographer. If they want to stay in Russia, there is basically nobody they could go to.

I wouldn't go to Krylova because she has Weaver and Poje. Not only that but look at Hawyek and Baker this season. I would go maybe to Igor at this point.

Shpilband, Platov, Krylova, Zhulin. My dream would be TAT as front woman and "official" coach, work with Vlasova also and the tech with Kustarova. I'm afraid TAT doesn't do that anymore.

She does for Kovtun. But it would be a conflict because she is so close with Bukin. I love that combo though and they could keep Kustrova into the fold. If not I would go to Igor. He would take them in a heartbeat.

Yulia was allowed to change coaches in the middle of the season, maybe they can already start with a new coach in January if they want to. I think the best is having a break and make any major decisions after they sorted out what they really want.

Even for Kovtun she does it half lately. It's not the same thing. I mean like officially it's her. Like with Klimova&Ponomarenko.
Shpilband would take them yes. I don't like the guy but at the point where they are now it's heaven. As for a conflict of interests, I'll show you how quick TAT can change her tune.

The problem with Igor is that it would bring even more heat into that SKIZ rivalry, but he is a great coach, no question about that.

Yulia was dragging it since last season. She wante to leave in january last season. This one was the last drop and most importantly her main objective this season was not to get a place in the team but to improve. Changing coaches right now and still not knowing you might go at Euros or Worlds it's not good for both the FED and IZ. There isn't enough time. Unless they decide not to go in anycase and MK become the reserve.

But look what it does for Kovtun. He is not The worlds greatest skater...

Changes are needed, that is for sure. I just hope they will work it through everything together. That is will not break them (for example if one of them wants to stay in Russia when other wants to leave). I wish them all the strength to stick together with each other! That is the most important right now. They are too adorable to let anything get in between them.

Bring the heat. They have great skating. They need his political pull. S/K are mediocre and they are getting the scores they are because of Marina.

At least this stupid rivarly will have some relation with the actual skating.

If this brings them to change coaches, it will be a blessing. Yes. Right now, it just hurts. :sad21:

Marta, I think just mentioning this to some people makes us a target, but you have a point there.

I wanted to talk openly about the programs for a long time, I wanted to even never come back to the thread, but...

Tutberidze is also the new IT coach for Russian Ladies Skating, Kustarova isn`t. I have the feeling like she is considered by the Fed as the one coach who produces good junior skaters, but if they want to reach anything these skaters have to leave.
