I know Tosca is overused quite a bit but I would love to see what Ruslena could do with it ala Carmen. Appassionata was big and sweeping, I feel Tosca is as well. They definitely could give it flavor!

Does it mean that they plan to stay only 3 more years in the sport and retire after the Olympics. I will be very sad if that is true and I don't believe that they will manage to achieve their aims for this period.

It sounds more like taking it an Olympic cycle at a time. Not thinking too far ahead.

I think their main goal is 2018. Who knows what they will do after that. They will only be 23 and 25 in 2018, so they could go without problems another 4 years. I really hope they will stay until 2022, there are so many styles they are capable of showing and they bring something different to the ice dance scene.

I just thought - I/Z would make a perfect Pierre & Natasha from War & Peace. Tonnes of adaptations to pick music choices from - there's the 4 part Russian film from the 1960s, the silent film in 1915-ish, the 1957 film with Nino Rota music, the new BBC version which first made me think of War & Peace and features lots of stunning Russian choral music, Prokoviev's opera, or even Natasha, Pierre & the Comet of 1812 which is a musical/opera opening on Broadway next year.

I see that there is already a debate for next season's music choices for lovely Elena and Ruslan...
If I may give my thoughts on FD - I have 2 things in mind for some time now:
- either 'Love in times of cholera' OST - this is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time...With right cuts and intricate choreo it would fit like a glove...
- or music composed for 'Misericordes' ballet choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon - this is another thing that would make a great vehicle for Elena and Ruslan

Thomas Crown Affair: I think this could be a great FD to contrast with the lyrical FD trend; it has this great cat and mouse attraction between the two leads. There are two great soundtracks/scores for the both movies versions that they use. I would love to see Nina Simone's Sinnerman as part of a FD.

I was also thinking they could try some film noir music (e.g. Gilda, Double Indemnity, Body Heat, etc) with Elena as the Femme Fatale and Ruslan as the poor unsuspecting guy.

My thoughts as well. But I think Ruslan's "take no prisoners attitude" provides the right balance.
Could Sinnerman work as their blues SD? I'm just finding it so hard to mix the Blues with Swing, ughh!!! Help, what are you guys thinking?

She seems to be travelling soon somewhere. Maybe Ruslan will go with her to get their programs done in US or Canada? Wishful thinking, I know.

Last year before Worlds, Elena posted some pictures of herself looking lovely and slim, which did not match the reality of how she looked at Worlds, just saying ....

Don`t worry.
There are a few posters that are convinced she is heavy and they take every opportunity to state this as if it is a fact.Anyway, I would love Ruslan and Elena to skate to a ballet, but I would like them to wait a few seasons, after they have gelled even more.

I actually think she looked slimmer at Russian Nationals than she did at Worlds last year, so I am not knocking Elena's weight.
I am just commenting on the discrepancy between the photos she posts and how she actually looks.
