Imo, she just looks very headstrong in the first pic.

I don't really think she is "posing sexily." In the first photo, she's hugging her knees and well covered up (much moreso than she ever is on the ice). I guess her expression can be interpreted various ways, but "sexy" was certainly not a word that came to my mind. Pensive or serious is what I see. The second photo just looks like she's being playful and maybe trying to do her best "top model" pose...again, nothing that reads "sexy" to me. Not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion, but I just don't see anything unsavory here.
The photographer is quite famous and he's done portraits of many skaters, and numerous celebrities going back for a few decades. I think Elena looks very natural, and very much her age in the photos.
I don't see these photos as "sexy". And I don't think photographer or Elena tried to make them look that way.

I didnt think of the word Sexy too~ i thought she was supposed to look afraid. But to be honest, I like that shot better because its not an expression we used to see from her.

To this certain picture debate: Sure that one picture is different, but I'm one of those who don't like it. Lena has seen it in so many magazine covers, no wonder she is trying to mimic it. You know, "the empty and distant"-look (which our modern culture has unfortunately created to be "the sexy"-look). And it's very unlike Elena, because she isn't "dead" at all, she is very much alive.
But this is more fun

Again, notice the head angle. It's exactly the same! And like many things with her, it's tacky (in its "cuteness"), over the top, and I love it!!

Thank you to those that have shared your own opinions on the photo I found controversial. It is fascinating how different people can interpret the same thing so differently.
I do agree with what gallavich is saying about the expression being more "serious" or "pensive" than "sexy".
But, then you think of this photo of Liza from a shoot she did 2 years ago, when she was also 16.
There are many similarities between the two photos. Both are in black and white (which in itself can add a level of sexiness). In both of them, the girls are looking serious. In both of them, the girls wearing much more than they do when on the ice!
Yet, you cannot deny that Liza does look "sexy" in this photo.
I think Meoima may have a point that Elena was trying to look "sexy", but the photographer had other ideas. After all, the pose she is in is one that is often used in implied topless photos in magazines. And that expression can look like an attempt at a pout.
Thankfully, trying to look sexy didn't work for Elena. She instead turned out looking like a scared little child! (As umeko_yur1tasukee has already pointed out)
But, knowing how happy a girl she is whenever we see her on the ice, this is almost as disturbing!
Elena, better stick to being the bubbly little girl we all know and love! If you want, you can try going for the more mature image again when you are older, and have a more mature body to go with it. But, please not until then.
But, these are just my thoughts (and CutieP's, it seems!)

No, I can't deny it in that photo.
It's not just the way she's posed, but also her hair and makeup. I will say that Liza at 16 seemed rather more mature than Elena, even if one doesn't consider the photos. Not that it still isn't a little uncomfortable seeing her look like that...but at least she looks "in charge," so to speak. Not like she was simply doing what the photographer told her to do, if you know what I mean. And I think the same was true of Elena.

Lena changed her insta DP.
The styling makes a big difference. Liza looks older, and while the clothing isn't "provocative" per se, she's certainly not bundled up like Lena. Is it... inappropriate... for 16-year-olds to pose like that? That's for everyone to decide on their own. I will say, I do agree with Gallavich that Liza looks in control; for me, that makes it better than if they went for a vulnerable pose.
I wish I could find a bigger version of that picture. It looks fun

For me Lena isn't sexy on that photo. I agree with umeko_yur1tasukee she looks like a scared little child. And the other pic is gorgeous!

Thank you for the pics! Her Bodyguard EX is made in Heaven! Every picture of her during that EX makes her look like an Angel.

I love her 2013/14 SP to Two Steps from Hell, her 2012/13 LP (Land of the Deaf) and my favourite performance of her LP this season (which also has to be one of my favourites) is the TEB one. ^.^ how about you?

First I must state (a silly cliché) that I like them all. The reason for that is because I love her as a performer
But, to give a more interesting answer, I'll go with the last season's SP (Anna Karenina music). Mainly because it's my "first love": And a special mention goes to this season's SP (the tacky one!), because its so much fun!! :dance:

My favorite program of hers is definitely Nero - one of the best ladies' SPs I've seen in a very long time. And then her Russian folk exhibition from Sochi - I'm a total sucker for those programs.
