Elena Radionova

This is one of my favorite "Elena tribute" -videos

It is lovely!

FINALLY we get some Lena updates!!

http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20150317/815625773.html
Here Lena says that she is preparing for Worlds in the usual manner and doesn’t feel nervous. She is “at peace.” She also says she hasn’t changed anything in her programs.

Via GoogleTranslate with my best-guess edits:
"The World Championships will bring together the strongest and best skaters. Every girl will be a strong contender. My goal in Shanghai is as usual - to skate two clean programs. And what position I can reach--all will become clear in the course of the championship. The importance of the tournament I'm in the process of preparing wonder [??]. But I understand that before, when I was little, I competed only for myself. And now I stand for Russia, from this responsibility twice more. Therefore, it is necessary to perform well in order to defend the honor of the country."

Yay, Elena the Fair defending the honor of Russia!! :cheer:

"The mood I have before the World Cup is the normal one – I’m preparing. I tried very hard to correct all defects. At this time, a lot of work over the spins, jumps.”

I've been really worrying that she's grown a lot over the past two months and that it will negatively affect her jumps, but I'm *hoping* this means that her condition is good. I hope she can go to Worlds in her best form and show it! :agree:

Now here's the REAL treat!! A Japanese sports program is doing a bunch of Worlds previews, and last night they aired Lena's!! :cheer2:
I hope we get more of these cuz I can't speak Russian but I can read Japanese! :)

Her segment starts at 2:00 in. They refer to her as "the unbelievable 16-year old prodigy girl from the powerhouse Russia." Then it goes on to talk about how when you think of "Russian prodigy," you think of Yulia, who did well at the Olympics team event and was 2nd at 2014 Worlds. But then she ended up 9th at Nationals and didn't make the Worlds team.

They talk about how the Russian ladies' field is really deep, and then they focus on Lena, whom they call tenshinranman, which means something like guileless/innocent. Kind of like calling her an "ingenue," I guess. They talk about how she was too young to go to the Sochi Olympics, but she got a special invitation to perform in the exhibition. Then they mention that she's the only girl to have won 2 Jr World titles.

At 3:47, Lena just kills me! She says "kawaii," which means cute/adorable in Japanese and perfectly describes her!! This footage is from her visit to Chacott (in Tokyo) from June of last year. Lena says "I can use this hair ornament at the competitions," and you can see that headband she is wearing is the one she's been wearing for her FS--she bought it in Japan!!

Then they mention that Lena was the only lady to win 2 GP events, and that she won the silver at GPF. During the zombie dance, they mention that according to Lena, her greatest weapon is her performance ability, and the way she can grab the audience hearts in an instant. (So true!!)

Then at 4:30, they show Lena and her mom (!!) shopping at a pet store. (This part is sooo cute.) Lena tells the dog, "you're a good dog." Then, looking at the clothes, she says "cute! I want this kimono!" Lena's mom: "I chose this one." Lena: "Aah, this is also cute!!" Lena: "I can't decide~!" Subtitle: After 30 minutes of hesitating...What does the prodigy girl decide? Lena: "I'll just buy them both. [sighs] With this, the child [her dog] will also be happy." [Martel is one lucky, spoiled dog!! ]

Then they show a clip from the GPF press conference, and I'm so glad because I've been searching for this clip!!
Lena says "I'm not young anymore. I say that because in Russia, there are younger girls who can do harder jump combinations than me. So my performance today wasn't particularly great/special."

In the final interview, Lena says, "In Russia there are lots of strong girls, so everyone has to work hard to be good." They flash a big subtitle that says "Worlds debut" and Lena says, "the most interesting part starts now."

The lady announcer then says "Radionova's natural face [i.e. without makeup; also, kind of like her off-ice appearance] is REAALLY cute! [the guy agrees] But I was surprised that she said 'I'm not young anymore' when she's only 16."
The guy says that even when Lena was a junior, she was talked about as someone who would rise to the top ranks, but to be in a position to win in her debut Worlds--she probably really wants to do well.

Last thing--big pic of Lena in a subway station in Tokyo! (Part of an ad for Worlds.)

Oh no! It was Valeria's birthday not Elena's. Elena's was January 6th.
lmao haha I meant Lera obv:laugh2: but u're right
everyday can be a celebration for a person like Lena who's always positive

I hope we get more of these cuz I can't speak Russian but I can read Japanese!
I like this kind of television
when they use subs instead of adding voiceover translation over the original sound.

wow huge thanks Batsuchan for the summary!

and you can see that headband she is wearing is the one she's been wearing for her FS--she bought it in Japan!!

btw isnt some other lady using the same headband this season

I know the japanese fans always write "kawaii" at Lena's IG. The word must have been invented for her, and if it wasn't (it wasn't), it should have been! Darn it!

This one goes down to: "stating the obvious"

This bit is a real keeper for Lenkafans (not the only one in this video)! Just makes me slightly jealous of a dog. That doesn't happen too often...

I remember this bit from a twitter update. Great to have it on a video!

This might come as a surprise to you fellas but I also agree

Keep up the good work:thumbsup: Soon we will see her skate again.

Yup Rika Hongo :)

Thank you Batshuchan! ^^)
The Lenkha effect to humans ~~ she was 15y/o in the vid right? She already looked like a superstar.. the way she talks so classy

Yup Rika Hongo

I read that Rika Hongo saw Lena wearing the headband at Japan Open, and she was like, "oh that's cute! I want to use one of those," so that's how she ended up with the same headband. :agree:

Here's a longer version of that Japanese report: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ka1ho_2015-03-23_sport
It's about the entire Worlds team, Lena's part starts at 30 minutes. No new information in the video really, just a few more minutes of cuteness

YAY, more Lena cuteness! :cheer:

At the Chacott store, the store lady tells her that the headband won't fall off, which is why Lena throws her head forward and back to see if it stays in place. And someone says "you can use it in your Rachmaninoff program" and she agrees.

At 31:21 in the interview she says, "Last season I was half junior, half senior, but this season I'm fully a senior, so I need to have good programs. Up until now, I was a junior, so the most interesting part starts now." (That last part was in the previous clip. They made it sound like she was talking about Worlds, but she was really talking about the 2014-15 season.)

I'm getting sooo nervous for Worlds! Best of luck to Lena!! :cheer:

Oh that could be accurate, since Lena used the headband first :)

Thanks for the translation!
I avoid the vids/news about The Worlds, i am super nervous having my 2 faves in one 1 competition.. but i am silently cheering and praying for them ^^)

Thanks for the new vid Noolan! And for the translation Batsuchan. You guys rule!!:agree:

So much Lena cuteness!!

Too much...

Can't take it...head explodes...(again)

I gotta get myself a head explosion insurance :slink:

Since Tatukmysheva is favoured to win gold at 2015 Worlds, I will predict Radionova to win the gold. She has the goods and the attitude to get it done.

Mike

No photos from the airport, no photos from her practice, nothing! We had more stuff from Euro  Chinese fans are slacking off :ohwell:

No, you predict it mainly because Tuk is going to do 3a, and it is very likely to ruin her SP...

Radio Nova has another thing working in her favour. Tara has already picked the Tuk Meister for gold and Super Nova for silver. Radionova will pull a Lipinski on Lipinski and beat her heavily favoured team mate. I like Liza too so I won't cry if my #1 fave has to settle for silver.World silver is big time.

I'm glad some of you all have confidence about Lena's chances for gold!! I absolutely love Lena, but since I haven't seen any reports about her practices (other than the one that seemed to be fake/incorrect), I have no idea how she's doing! :drama: My big fear is that she's like 4cm taller than at Euros and that it'll affect her jumps! But of course I hope I'm totally wrong, and that Lena rocks it as usual!! At any rate, I can't wait to see her cheesy but FUN SP! :cheer: (I might not get up to watch it live though; we'll see.)

All I know is that Inna will be there to take care of our darling baby! :)
