Elena Radionova

No she is not keeping the same FS because of her growth it is too tight. Someone posted an interview a few post of where Elena says she is surprising you with a new FS dress because the other one can't be altered

Yes, check out my post at the top of this page. I am looking forward to being surprised, though I hope it's a good surprise!

I just rewatched Lena's SP. Man, that flip was a beauty! If she can add a few more steps before and keep the edge clean, that should definitely boost her TES a bit.

Perhaps my favorite part was Inna's big smile at the end of Lena's skate. She looked so pleased. :luv17: And now I know why. She gave Lena a choice and Lena went for the harder option and nailed it!

Lena's shimmy as she skated to the boards was also awesome.

Did you hear the British Eurosport commentary? I never thought I'd see the day when Lena's music cuts were praised, but they were certainly raving about her program!! :agree:

I was watching the competition while I got ready for work. I have taken to not watching Lena because I have it in my head that she does better when I don't look. Not sure what I will do at Worlds. I actually feel she should be in first place right not but whatever

I noticed this :) and thought that Coach Inna looks younger at that moment haha~ channeling Lena's feeling perhaps :luv17:

Who's excited for the new dress?? haha

She said: "There's only sport in my heart right now."

She was amazing today. I could not take my eyes off her- especially the way she moves her arms during spins- fantastic! I think she could have been awarded with higher marks though. Well, lets see how it goes with LP. Wishing Elena lots of great mood and luck!

Thanks for translating, Sorrento!! Yeah, I really love the way Lena's arms in the spins match the music.
Lena did look a bit disappointed with the score, so I hope that makes her mad, allowing her to skate her heart out in the free! :cheer:

OMG, winky97 that is exactly how I feel!!! (And exactly what I did this morning.) The last two times I watched live (Worlds 2015 LP and GPF LP), Lena made mistakes, and I totally felt like I was jinxing her. :sad21:

But then I told one of my friends about this, and she's a big tennis fan, so she was like, when my favorites are playing, if I feel like I'm jinxing them, I do things like play their favorite music in the background to send them good vibes. So this morning when I watched, I wore my Team Russia jacket AND I looked at Audrey Hepburn pics, and I guess it worked..?

I guess if I keep up this tradition then I'll have to wear the jacket at work if I watch the LP live...not sure about that... :slink:

Photos from the press conference:

OF COURSE Lena has to strike a pose. Even the ISU is aware of Lena's modeling tendencies...

I can't believe Elena is not leading after today but whatever. I mean Evgenia was good but Elena was flawless and it wasn't less difficult. Anyway, bring on the FS.

Good luck to Elena tomorrow!! She was beautiful in the SP, should have been in first IMO. I wish she wasn't skating first in the last group, I am worried the judges will hold her score down b/c they plan to put Evgenia on top, but what can you do...anyways, I just hope she has a wonderful skate, and is proud of herself. Can't wait to see her at Worlds!!!

I worry the same thing, but honestly I feel that barring a fall from Evgenia the judges have pretty much crowned her to be the it girl this season. It actually annoys me because I like you felt Elena should have led after the short program. My feelings about Elena going first are mixed. I think they hold back a little, but Evgenia goes right after. Honestly I do like the fact that Elena does not have to sit there and hear Evgenia inflated scores and then go skate. That's more pressure for her. She can go out there and throw it down.

I know! I agree it is annoying, esp when Elena skates her best and is probably wondering what more can she do. The only thing that makes me feel better is that I know Elena has not reached her full potential, and still has things she can improve on. I am of course, still hoping that she can pull a surprise upset here or at Worlds. But if she doesn't, hopefully she will be fired up for next season! I just feel like Elena is not getting the credit and recognition that she deserves, and that makes me mad!

Before I forget, another photo of our supermodel in action:

You and winky97 are not the only ones who thought Lena should've been first! I did too! And the Polish commentators, apparently. And Sophie-Anna, who saw it live:
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...s-Euros-2016&p=1357575&viewfull=1#post1357575

But I understand why she's not. Evgenia is getting pushed as Russia #1, and from the Fed's perspective, it makes sense because she's reliable and she has a great LP and no obvious flaws. Lena has some very obvious flaws (bad posture, flaily arms, bad programs), but she also has the power to move people, to touch them emotionally, as Sophie-Anna said. Despite all her strengths, I don't think Evgenia has Lena's innate expressive power (but I will see what I think after Worlds). So I'm hoping that losing to Evgenia pushes Lena to work on these things and hopefully choose better programs. :agree:

The other reason I am not too upset is because I know that people in the skating world LOOOOVE Lena. That journalist alluded to this in one of the articles I posted earlier--she's the favorite amongst the members of the Russian team, and he said she's the favorite among the journalists too.

Look what Laura Lepisto said yesterday! She didn't write about any of the other Russian girls (as far as I can tell), but she tweeted this:
"Just love the touching atmosphere Radionova is able to create nowadays with her skating. So genuine!"

And this is from the website of Utako Nagamitsu, Daisuke Takahashi's former coach. I guess she has conversations with various people in the skating world, and in this week's post, she talked with Mihoko Higuchi, who is Shoma Uno's coach. They talked a lot about Shoma and Kanako Murakami, but then they started talking about Worlds, and this is what they said.
http://www.fujitv.co.jp/sports/skate/archive/2016012701/index.html
On page 5:
Utako: It seems that this year’s Four Continents and World Championships will be high-level competitions.
Mihoko: Because last year’s World champion Tuktamysheva seems like she won’t be able to participate.
Utako: In Russia, the leaders keep changing. Amongst them, Radionova has grown a lot but she’s still amazing, isn’t she? (2015 Grand Prix Final 3rd place)
Mihoko: She got really big, didn’t she ?
Utako: Even so, she always manages to get good scores—that’s why she’s amazing.
Mihoko: Yes, that’s true.

They didn't say a word about Medvedeva in their conversation!

And then Lena does things like stay until the very end so every fan who wants to get an autograph can get one. :agree:

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I'm hoping that one day--maybe not this season, but one day--all this goodwill and admiration she has generated amongst the skating community and fans will pay off for her.

So GOOOO LENA, skate your freakin' heart out tomorrow, make the audience cry, and make it VERY DIFFICULT for Evgenia!
:cheer:

(Not to get my hopes up or anything, but I will point out that the two times that Liza lost to Lena last year, she had to skate right after a clean Lena LP....just sayin'!)

Find this photos of Elena like them so much that most post them here.

Hope Elena do his best today and win's gold.
Sadly im work then but i have put timer on my digibox so can see when im back from work.

have to put my 5 cents in my fav girl/lady fan thread

she litteraly gives her heart and soul in every performance, she just wants to step on ice and do it for us like there is no tomorrow I feel.

It amazes me how well (so far) she's coping with her immense growth and how she challenges herself (by adding 3F in SP) - her SP was maybe a bit too cautious comparing e.g. to GPF performance, but still she produced a brilliant skate and should sit in 1st by 1 pt margin above Medvedeva. Guess judges this season can officially announce who is the winner of everything (annoyed).

And I don't want to live in the world where backloading stuff will be a new standard in ladies to be on top :hopelessness:

Oh!! I didn't know both Daisuke and Shoma's coaches had such nice things to say about her! That means a lot to me, as I'm a huge fan of both skaters. Yes, I agree with everyone here that Lena has something special, her ability to connect to the audience is rare, and her passion is so obvious on the ice. I hope she does her best here and at Worlds, and continues to improve on her posture/skating. I also really hope she gets better programs. I can't believe she is doing as well as she is with the titanic program. I don't think any other skater could pull it off.

Does anybody have a link to watch the competition on internet please for people who don't live in Russia ?? Thank you so much
