Elena Radionova

Wishing Elena the very best of luck for her free, hopefully she can prove that she really is the queen of the ice

Oh, dear you was so sad on pedestal! Elena you was great! I'm sure your love for FS, your diligence will beat every difficulties, and you will be champion!

I'd gotten excited for a red dress haha; this one was pretty, maybe a little heavy. But as long as she's comfortable and able to breathe in it, that's all that really matters.

When it comes to the scoring, I feel terrible for her, and it's like she's paying for how she skated at CoC, because since then she's been amazing at best (Rostelecom, CoR, here), and gritty at worst (GPF), and Medvedeva is now able to beat her with multiple mistakes. The last 2A was so triumphant, where Medvedeva's, well, it didn't sufficiently impact her Performance/Execution, I'll say that.

Still, I'm glad she's added the flip and how smoothly she landed it in the short. Not sure what more she can do to give the FS a higher BV except maybe put one of the 2As in the first half and the flip into the second. My instinct would be to move the second lutz, but my sense is she feels better having two chances for the 3-3.

Evgenia is killing her in the PCS and I can sort of see why. Elena did the best she could, can't do more on the BV. Just need to ride this out and keep putting up consistent performances like this. Still a Silver and yes she's added the flip. Something to just keep building on.

What can i say Elena takes the ice like little queen and the audience live through hole skating.
And i hardly newer clap my hand's when looking at home but this time i did do that.
That was one FS to look meny times from tube.
Our finish commentator love Elena's new dress and i did that too.
10 points to that.
Now just waiting for the WC there she can beat Medvedeva i know that.

Those mistake that Evgenia made should have been enough for Elena to win. I call BS on this event. Honestly there is nothing Elena can do. They ar intent on Evgenia being the girl this season. It's kinda sad.

Agreed. I don't think Evgenia is quite as good as the judges are making her out to be. I am also quite tired of people criticizing Elena's posture like she is so much worse than the other top Russian female skaters (Evgenia, Anna, etc.). I agree her movements can use further refinement. However, I also think that Evgenia and Anna have a physical advantage in that their body types appear more balletic and graceful. They have the ideal dancer's bodies. While Elena is gorgeous, I think she needs to work extra hard to portray that appearance of gracefulness. I think of her as more of a powerful, dramatic skater, similar to my favorite male skater Daisuke Takahashi. I would actually love to see her skate to some of his programs (like Bjork's Bachelorette!) I think she would do a fantastic job.

I am glad Elena is mad though. She should be, and hopefully she will come back at Worlds (and next year) stronger than ever.

Yeah don't get me wrong. I think Elena was robbed here also. I just think there could be improvements in movement and transitions. But she didn't need to here that's the point. I mean what happens when Evgenia skates clean when she's already beating Elena when she isn't.

Evgenia has been crowned Russia's it girl and Elena could have the greatest posture in the world and they would still be handing things to Evgenia.

Even when Evegenia is clean she is not great IMO. All that back loading and tano jumping needs to be addressed this summer by the ISU. It actually takes away from Evgenia's program.

I just realized that Elena is wearing a version of the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace from "Titanic"

Agree - like both girls but it's clear who the favourite with judges is. It must be hard being the bridesmaid all the time. 3rd place seemed strange too

Elena was a fighter today. I love watching her skate with such fierce determination. It's really amazing.

I'd love to know what she was texting from the KnC. :dev3:

It's funny; while I would have had Elena first after both programs, a silver medal at Worlds would still be such a tremendous success that it's hard to be completely outraged. Given how Lipnitskaya and others have struggled in their "sophomore" seasons, it's so impressive to me that Elena's managed to maintain her level despite quite literally outgrowing her costumes. I'm so pumped to see her in Boston, no matter what the score ends up being, hopefully it'll be a fantastic performance.

Guys, what is the Russian Cup competition that will happen soon? Will Lena participate?

Russian figure skating fed have a series of skating events throughout the season which are different stages of Russian Cup. The final stage is in Feb. Sometimes the top skaters will do the earlier stages of Russian Cup to tune up for the session, but usually you won't see top skaters at the final stage of Russian Cup, unless a World spot is up for grabs like now. It was a final stage of Russian Cup right after the Sochi Olympics were Tuktamysheva was injured before her great season last year. She was going for the spot on the World team that opened after Sotnikova decided not to go. I read somewhere that Skating Federation asked that both Yulia and Liza T go to the final stage so they can be considered for the World team. I am sure I overly simplified it, but that is basically it.

Lena will not be competiting in Russian Cup final since she was on the Euros team and will be on the World team (yeah for me! I might have to go buy something to throw on the ice for her). Ideas anyone?
