Elena Radionova

I actually like the new dress :) hoping to see it again in TCC (or any dress, as long as to see Lena there)

Great job this season. I anticipate a better programs next season :)

She is not on the Gala? :(

Angelina is now leading Team Challenge Cup :sad21:

I have pretty much given up on Team Challenge Cup. I think the voting is bogus and I am glad I have not wasted money on a ticket.

As for our Elena, after watching her live in Worlds I think she will be ok. She seemed to lack her usual spark. Honestly I think the spark has been missing all season and I believe it is because she has struggled through the season and its bothered her. She is going through her gangly teen phase. She is tall with those long limbs. My guess is she has probably gotten as tall as she is going to. The continued growth made jumping difficult, but my guess is that her jumps with be settled next season and won't have the poor landings that cost her GOE. Hopefully she can fill out a bit and tame the arm movements a little. I did not personally have a big issue with her music, but so many people did so maybe her camp needs to pick more carefully.

Disappointed she did not medal at Worlds and was not in exhibition, but all and all I consider the year a success for her. It was clear this would be a transitional year for her due to body changes and she managed to stay in the thick of things. It's not like she took a total beat down at Worlds. Her score a was decent. Just had stiff competition. People are counting her out next year, but she will show them.

Yes, I completely agree. She is hungry to win, which is what I love about her. She's not going to be OK with 6th place finish, or even just another bronze. She wants gold, and I think with some refinement of technique and the right vehicle/program, she will get it :)

I know the season just ended, but I already cannot wait to see her programs next year!

Forgot to add that maybe if she doesn't get to go to Team Trophy, it could be a blessing in disguise. I think the judges are sending her a message that she needs to fix certain thing about her skating before they give her higher scores. I'd love to see her next year with better jump technique and landings, better posture, and better programs. If that means she doesn't get to do as many events this summer, then so be it.

yes! :D
Thanks for posting the links winky97 :thank:

Welcome!

So here is a story for u guys. I was sitting in the Marriott lobby skater stalking with some others from GS. I had been frustrated by my inability to get a photo opp with Lena or even an off ice sighting. Anyway, it would be easier to tell u who we did not see because we largely saw everyone except the American skaters. A whole slew of them came down and ended up sitting all around us. They seemed to be gathering to go out. Eventually Lena, Anna, and some of the other Russian skaters showed up. I wanted to approach so badly, but decided it would be wrong since they were clearly trying to chill after their busy week. Anyway, that was the most restraint I ever had to show.

I saw the American skaters last Sunday, before the practice days. Only skaters I didn't see were the Russian singles, I think. Once they arrived in Boston, I saw a lot of Anna & Zhenya... they seemed easy to come across, even without trying all that much.

I never saw Elena outside of TD Garden. A few days ago, I spotted her coach Inna walking in Back Bay, but Elena wasn't with her at the time. I figured I'd watch Inna for a few minutes to see if it'd lead to a Lena sighting. Not sure if Inna was just lost or suspected something, cuz she stopped and doubled-back a few times, to the extent that I couldn't follow her without looking conspicuous. Eventually, I lost sight of her -- so that's all I got on this. :( Lena looked beautiful all the times I saw her around TD Garden, though!

I did like Lena's new dress. Anyone know why she changed again?

I may be super slow in coming to this conclusion, but i couldn't remember such dress being in the movie at all. And then I saw a picture of it again and it hit me... she was a rose. This is so clever if true.

Folks, let us congradulate Elena for yet another stable season! :yay: She fights like no other. Now even though she only finished in 6'th place she still scored 209+, was 4 pts. out of the bronze, and would have been on every previous world podium. Seven people earned over 200 pts. which is unprecedented. Inflation or not, this was probably the strongest women's competition in history. Satoko Miyahara, the reigning vice-champion, has also finished off the podium with 2 clean skates.

Lets hope they sort out the votes on april 6th and that she makes the TCC! :cheer:

Vibes of Jessica Alba, except way prettier.

I got to see Lena live for the free skate. It was quite a nerve-wracking experience watching her in the warm-up that I was almost relieved she went first so I could relax for the rest of the night.

This was only my second time watching skating in person, but I noticed that, while I adore her Titanic program, the crowd wasn't able to get involved with something that they could, say, clap in rhythm with. Maybe that's an American thing, but for Ashley skating to something dramatic but driving, it was easy for the crowd to get involved. Skating in the final group, I feel like you need that to push a score over the edge.

In this way, it could well be an easy fix for Lena, who I certainly believe has the personality and enthusiasm for something more driving (see: JLo, Frida). If Titanic was a way of keeping her calm as she continued her growth spurt - because let's be real, she survived the most insane growth spurt ever with fairly minimal damage to her technique - then by all means, I was so happy to see her skate cleanly that I didn't even care about the medals.

All of which to say, I'm very excited for what our girl can bring to the table next year.

I agree it was a crazy crazy ladies finals. Hope Lena makes the team next year when other juniors turn seniors :( :(

I also honestly think Titanic is just harder to get into some ways, at least for an adult audience, I'm sorry (and you can only imagine the judges, who on average are over 60). I hope next year she will find something that kind of has a bit more universal appeal. I know she really loved the program but I think it did hold her back a bit unfortunately.

Oh God! Please... **praying** I really hope it will be Lena...
