Bellu Memorial Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Liza finished 1st out of 7 in the SP, with a score of 58.77.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Bellu Memorial as I was concentrating on the Maria Olszewska Memorial.

Looking at the Protocols, there was only one negative number on the whole table!

The second element, the Double Axel, had the smallest GOE of the programme, at +0.11. This meant it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from Judge 5; 0 from two Judges; and +1 from two Judges.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.52 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, to +1.18 for the opening element, the Triple Lutz. Because the Triple Lutz had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remined as the second highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges marks for these six elements were all in the +1 to +3 range.

Indicentally, the fourth element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, had the second biggest GOE of the programme. And because it already had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme.

Liza is currently 14.88 points ahead of 2nd position, Salma AGAMOVA (TUR), and 17.44 points ahead of 3rd position, Chloe Desiree LEUNG (HKG).

And just a month after setting a new absolute Personal Best score for the SP at the Volvo Open Cup, Liza has done it again!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I don't like counting chickens, but this is the sort of lead that is unassailable. They say "you can't win the title in the Short Programme, but you can lose it". Well, I think Liza has dis-proved that theory.

That said, she could do with having a good Free Skate, because after achieving an absolute Personal Best score for the SP, it would be nice to do the same for the FS.

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 18:46:00 EET (16:46:00 GMT / 19:46:00 MSK). So 10 hours from now.

Liza will be the 7th and final skater to start. So, fourth and final skater to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:16:00 EET (17:16:00 GMT / 20:16:00 MSK). So 10h 39m from now.

Liza is due to start at 19:46:00 EET (17:46:00 GMT / 20:46:00 MSK). So 11 hours from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Liza finished 1st out of 7 in the FS, with a score of 91.00. This meant that she remained in 1st position overall, with a score of 149.77.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Bellu Memorial as I was concentrating on the Maria Olszewska Memorial.

Looking at the Protocols, she may have had the highest score, but it was not a good skate at all. There were 7 elements with negative GOE, in two distinct groups - the first four elements of the programme, and then the first three elements of the second half of the programme.

There are too many to go through them all individually, so I will just talk about the elements with the five biggest GOE hits. (I could have just done the three biggest hits, as they were significantly bigger than the others. But you'll see why I went to five).

The first element, the Triple Lutz-Double Axel done in sequence, had the fifth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.59. However, because it had by far the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -2 from Judge 2; and -1 from the remaining four Judges.

The second element, the Triple Loop, was landed on the quarter, and she fell. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.45, which meant that it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

In the third element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe, the Triple Flip was landed on the quarter. It had the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.71, but because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second higehst scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it two -2's; and three -1's.

The eighth element, the Triple Lutz, was under-rotated, and she fell. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.36, which meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fifth lowest scoring element of the programme. Unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

The ninth element, the Triple Flip, was under-rotated. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.27, which meant that it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fourth highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from all five Judges.

For the remaining elements with negative GOE, the GOE ranged from -0.44 for the fourth element, the Double Axel (which was landed on the quarter), to -0.13 for the seventh element, the Single Salchow-Half Loop-Double Salchow. Apart from a 0 from Judge 3 for the seventh element, all the Judges marks for these two elements were either -2 or -1. (Both -2's were for the Double Axel).

The final element, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, had neutral GOE.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.30 for the tenth element, the Change Foot Combination Spin, to +1.00 for the sixth element, the Choreographic Step Sequence. The Judges marks for these four elements were either +1 or +2.

Liza finished the Free Skate 8.21 points ahead of 2nd position, Salma AGAMOVA (TUR), and 9.60 points ahead of 3rd position, Marietta ATKINS (POL).

Overall, Liza finished 23.09 points ahead of 2nd position, Agamova, and 27.16 points ahead of 3rd position, Atkins.

Although this was one of Liza's lower FS scores of the season, the absolute PB score from the SP meant that this poor skate in the FS was enough for her to comfortably win the title.

Nevertheless, she will be hoping that things go much better at her next outing.

:cheer: WELL DONE LIZA!!! :cheer:
