Elizabet Tursynbaeva

Indeed. Elizabet's skating was wonderful. But her K&C felt empty.

Can someone tell me if Mama Tursynbaeva will show up in the future? Did Eteri kick her out?

Eteri's seniors usually travel without their parents.

Thank you, Spirals.

I still have hope Mama Tursynbaeva will make it to some of Elizabet's bigger events. She seems like the type of mother who wants to be there for them.

Unfortunately that's maybe gone.

I'm also not sure how much they allow parents to watch skaters training.

Anyway she did really well in Slovakia: both programs are nice, unfortunately there were three mistakes in the free (3lo under, mistake on the second 2a not being able to do the combo so she tried later with the second 3S and fell), but still managing to get the silver medal in front of the two russians.

Next is Finlandia Trophy i guess.

Wow Elizabet got higher pcs than the two Russian skater.s The power of Eteri is strong. Anyway I'm glad that she wont be as constantly underscored like when she was with Orser.

Just WOW!!! love this girl... didn't she land a quad a couple of years back "just for fun" on the same practice ice with Yuzaru?

I don't think she was underscored with Orser. I think she's improved dramatically with Eteri and that's the reason her PCS are so much better. I've always liked her but the frantic way she would rush through her programs drove me crazy. She didn't do that at all in her Finlandia SP. Brava, Elizabet!

Congrats, Lil‘Bet for her second silver medal already this season! The Team Eteri approach appears to suit her tremendously well and she seems to be ready to go places this season.

Just two points behind Tuktamysheva. She gets better and better :agree:
Small mistakes, stepout after triple rittberger and UR 3S+3T, but overally huge improvement.

I think what's helped her the most is a consistent training environment she's already familiar with and not being plagued with injury or visa issues or family separation. Both Eteri and Brian are great coaches but sometimes, the fit's just not right and I got the sense that Brian was never the absolute best fit for her. They always seemed to have different philosophies re: training.

And even though I know Eteri allows parents to observe training, I can't imagine her allowing the parent to be overly involved to the detriment of the training (or competitions). Maybe Elizabet needs that. Her mother seems really sweet but maybe a cutting of the apron strings for Elizabet while competing can be healthy for her.

The two programs she has now are great vehicles for her. The Moonlight Sonata SP is maybe the best I've seen from her. She's going to be even more of a force to be reckoned with once she's more settled in the programs and skates them cleanly back to back.

Eteri is definitely the right type of coach for her... :)

I agree. Not to mention she looks so much happy and lively now. Orser firing her is a true blessing.

People have been saying that fixing techniques takes time.....I have a visual image of Eteri's one eyebrow raised!!!!

This is it. She always was meh to watch for me, one of my least favorite skaters to watch. Now she's one of the ones I look forward to watching the most. The jumps still requite plenty of work but the improvements in her PCS categories and overall performing and dedication to performance are very significant.

Where did you get from that Orser was firing her? In her interview (that was translated in the edge in an own thread) she said that after the Olympic season she said SHE felt that she needed a change.

Also: Lil‘Bet‘s problem was consistency, her technique was quite fine to begin with. But I agree that Eteri is definitely the better coach for her, she clearly looks like a different skater now and more happy too. In her interview she said this approach is the right for her and it‘s very visible, I think. Definitely good for her. :)

Yeah it's not that Brian is a bad coach, but just what we've been saying all summer: as successful as these coaches are, they can't be the solution for every skater in the world.

During these years you could tell Elizabet was not comfortable with the training at the TCC, she's that kind of skater that needs to build that confidence and consistency by training the programs over and over.

Plus without that rule for the Sochi Olympics i don't think Elizabet would have ever left Eteri's group.

Both programs are really good, i'd argue for me maybe even better than Zagitova's programs. In the free she got +4 for the steps sequence (level 4 also) from all the judges except judge. no.1

I remember reading he said it himself he told her to leave because he could have get her thus far (sth along this line).

But well....he said she said don't really matters. She is happy. She gets results. I guess her family safe lots of money training in Russia too.

I fully agree. Both Brian and Eteri are good coaches but they have a vastly different approach that might not suit everybody. For Elizabet, Eteri seems to be the better fit and that‘s okay. It‘s good for her that she made this change and is happy now.

So far, I like her SP more than Alina‘s but only because POTO has those music cuts I can only survive because it‘s Alina skating to it. But her FS isn‘t to my liking so far. It‘s okay, it suits her but I don‘t know what it is... something isn‘t captivating me. Alina‘s Carmen however is. But I‘ll give it a chance, it‘s only the beginning of the season.

I guess, that‘s a factor, too. Training abroad isn‘t cheap. I guess her fed was paying for her but it seems to be a lot easier when the family is all in one place. She said this in her interview as well, I think. Anyway, this move obviously benefited her and it‘s great to see her more confident and happy now.
