Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

Excited to see what they come up with for programs next season. I think it's fair to say the costumes of this past season are long gone (they fit with the theme of the programs so that was cool... the Free Skate, at least). Hoping for something a little more, uh, form-fitting now.

I think they served their purpose rather well. I liked the change of style, though may have liked it better if they were either more different or only one program.

I think a more form fitting outfit might be more practical this season now that it is less likely her body is still "changing" but also she likely will be in closer to top shape this summer due to lack of injury.

Sometimes you just don't know what your body is going to do when you start working out, (there is a great clip of Brad Pitt in an interview talking about how he kept trying to train his thighs to be bigger, but only his engine would get bigger - least anyone things this is a body dig - people can be fit and still have body shape changes due to training) a little forgiveness in costumes seems fair after injury. A more fitted costume might have not been as physically comfortable by season end this year.

Елизавета Туктамышева: новые программы мне будет ставить Стефан Ламбьель http://www.team-russia2014.ru/article/figur/21999.html

Liza's choreographer will be Stephan Lambiel!!!

Great news! Well, they've worked together before. I hope this will shut up all the people who complain about Mishin-style programs (ah, who am I kidding...). :cheer:

Well, Liza says in the article that Lambiel most likely won't have time to visit her in Russia to polish her program/programs (Liza said she doubts that the 6 days will be enough to make both the short and the long program) before the test skates, and she will be working with her regular Mishin camp choreographer (Tatiana Prokofieva) after returning from Switzerland. So, the program or programs will be "Mishinized" anyway, but Lambiel will be blamed for them.

I really don't think so. Lambiel is never criticised. He is a bit like Jeff Buttle in that sense that they are quite "untouchable" in the skating world

Weren't there some complaints about the Swan Lake FD he did for Z/G with the "coke snort" and all of that? I thought it was very entertaining (as a non-ice dance fan), but I think it was a little too "out there" for some...(but I'm pretty sure we won't see anything like that in Liza's program ;))

Lambiel's tango SP for Liza which he did a few seasons ago was criticized quite a lot, although most probably blamed Mishin, not Lambiel. His FD for Zhiganshina/Gazsi this last season was criticized a lot too, although the majority of critics most likely didn't know that Lambiel had choreographed the FD (and also their SD which was criticized a bit less). If more skating fans knew about it, as well as about Lambiel's involvement with Amodio's tango SP for season 2013/2014, I am sure even he wouldn't have escaped critique. Amodio's program was heavily criticized, especially the music choice (and I agree with that critique completely, although I am a huge fan of Lambiel).

The thing with Lambiel as a choreographer is, his choreography works either for himself, or for very talented skaters with great feel for music and very good skating skills. And even then not always. Two of his best programs are Machida's SP for season 2012/2013 (Skate America , Cup of China) and Akiko Suzuki's EX to 'Clair de Lune' (Christmas on Ice 2014). At the same time, most of his exhibition programs for Denis Ten (during the three last years he has made almost all of them), while good, are nothing extra special either. The 'Carmen' EX he did for Kostner for 'Opera on Ice' 2011 was okay for that show, but didn't work for other shows.

That was an epic program. And if Liza were to do something as oddball as that (which I doubt), I'd actually be okay with it!

Yeah I think we are saying the same thing. Lambiel's choreo was criticised in a few cases but never him, at least I don't think so. It was always Liza, Mishin, Zhiganshina/Gazsi or Florent.
If Liza's program is criticised next year, I am sure the critics will say it is Liza and Mishin's camp fault because they "Russianised" the program. Which might be true or false idk. But i don't think Lambiel is gonna be criticised for it anyways

Yes, there were a lot of complaints, not just some. The "coke snort" was actually meant as snorting the ice as if it was their drug (Z/G told this themselves in an interview).

I agree partially, but my point is also that in some of those cases most people didn't even know that Lambiel was the choreographer, and they might have criticized him too, even been disillusioned with his choreography, if they had known.

I think a certain segment of FS fans would criticize Liza's choreography no matter what. Whether it's choreographed by Lambiel or somebody else. Maybe if she woke up one day, suddenly wasn't Russian, and left Mishin...?

I honestly don't think there was anything wrong with Lambiel's Tango for Liza, on its own. The problem is she kept that program for three years (!!!), kept bombing it for the last two years, and skated a few too many tangos/similar programs around that time. (Plus, the program may have been a little too mature for her circa. 2011.)

I wish they had more than six days. But as long as Lambiel doesn't choreograph another tango for her, I'm not worried.

A nice photo of Liza with Lambiel here, she was 13 I think at the time:

I think it's good that Mishin will be there with Liza while Lambiel is working on the programs, it might mean that any changes Mishin would want to make will be incorporated into choreography on the spot rather than some chaotic changes afterwards.
But the AMOUNT of travelling they do and Mishin is 74! Is Liza getting any time off at all? In June maybe?
