Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

It doesn't bother me either way. My understanding is statues of and tributes to and photos of these two are literally everywhere there, it is understandable that the skaters would want to pose by something authentic/unique to the experience of being there if that makes sense. I don't take this as approval of these leaders any more than someone posing by what remains of the Berlin Wall is approving of the wall. To me though her comments on the pictures are a bit more perplexing... but either way her politics or views don't impact my opinion of her skating, so it's all good to me.
I also don't think that she's approving anything by posing with statues of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il in the background. I honestly don't think she's giving it much thought. And Russia is approaching North Korea from what I read in the papers in the last couple of months and that's a good thing imo. It's not good to have North Korea totally isolated.
But to me there's a huge difference between posing in front of the remains of the Berlin Wall or posing in front of two dead dictators. The first memorial should make us think about the errors of the past and the second praises the past and present.

It looks bloody freezing. Even Liza and Artur look cold, and they're Russian!

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I think that Mishin is hinting toward the 2018 Olympics.

The St. Petersburg figure skater, in a discussion with a Spb.Sovsport.ru correspondent, shared opinions about the current season.

- Everything is good for now. We’re soon going to a competition is Hungary and are preparing tediously for them.

Have you already forgotten about the first season faliures?
Yes, it was sort of a pedestrian period. It is most important to not live in the past but to work for the future, to hope for the best. Maybe, next season all will fortunately pan out. If it didn’t work this season, it doesn’t mean that my career has crashed. (smiles)

Do you have the highest of plans for the [World Team Challenge]?
My goal – show yourself and don’t skate below your level. I’ve left the same programs from the Rus. Nats: Bolero and Peer Gynt. You won’t see any colossal changes.

Any hints toward the 2018 Olympics? If was noted not once that this is your main goal for the near future.
I think that Alexei Nikolaevich [Mishin] has them but hasn’t voiced them yet.

What program are you preparing for the upcoming “Mishin Cup”?
Maybe if will show an exhibition number that I haven’t shown anywhere.

Edit: oh you Google Translate. Feel the difference between "it is resistant to train" and "we are preparing tediously". A world of difference!

so no new short programm for now boo :(
maybe its for the best tho
Bolero is such a great fit for her:bow:

I think I liked the new short though it was hard to be sure with low quality videos. Hopefully she will have a brand new short next year either way (the waltz or something else, I don't care)... more Bolero would be very disappointing for me.

Agreed. Though I thought the waltz was an interesting direction for her, so I'd love to see that.

lets repost

It just occurred to me that it might be worth noting in this thread about Papa Mishin's upcoming 75th birthday, and the accompanying celebratory show that is to be held.

Copying from adelia's post in Petrov's fan fest thread:

Russian figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva reports that she has taken part in a fundraising evening in support of children diagnosed with cancer.

"It is a culinary evening meant to support children who have cancer. Nikita and I [Nikita is, presumabley, the kid in the 1st picture] fixed a tasty cake, had taste samples of other kids' foods, and had conversations with their parents.

These kids, for a long time, have had treatment at the Gorbacheva center, some have already gone into the state of remission. I really want to hope that the kids will defeat their illness, and will finally be able to return home to their parents, to their friends."

Mad respect for Liza. She said in one of her interviews that she likes psychology and pediatrics. She is a bright girl. :)

So I've been toying around with some jump layouts, that could be realistically executed by Liza, to see what could win Liza the Olympics. The BVs are for jumps only and do not include the 2nd half bonus:

Note - R is for Rittberger/Ritt (loop), 'cause thats how we roll in Europe.

First:
3A
3L+3T
3F
2A+3T
3L+2T+2R
3R
3S
BV: 50.30

Current layout:
3A
3L+2T+2R
3F
3T+3T
3L
3S - 2A seq
2A
BV: 46.96

Alternate:
3A
3L+2T+2R
2A+3T
3L
3R
2A+3T
3S
BV: 48.3

The first one is the best, imo. She did 3L+3T and 2A+3T before. She can also do a 3-2-2 combo. No need for the 2nd 3A because she'll have to replace a triple and it will not be worth it. The alt. version is an efficient Miyahara-style program. No 3-3 and just 7 triples and she STILL beats her current layout. She can omit the nemesis flip or the ritt which she hasn't included this season. I want to remind that the highest jump BV excluding Liza is 45.1 belonging to Satoko Miyahara (not counting Mao). As you can see, Liza ends up a whopping 5 pts. ahead of the 2'nd best layout. All she has to do is get those lvl 4s and GOE. :)
