Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

Dailymotion has the worst player on the internet, and the streaming wasn't good too, but it's better than nothing.

Thank you Alex :)

Liza's statement after her skate at Nebelhorn:

"I value these skates highly for I have not competed in a very long time. If we compare these performances to those at the Russian Cup then we've made a very big step [forward]. The important thing was to skate for myself, to understand that I actually can and to realize that I am, more or less, getting in shape. We came here for a good skate and not for a certain placement."

From here.

Alexei Mishin's statement on Liza's skate:

"I've gotten the most joy [out of all of his students at Nebelhorn] from Liza Tuktamysheva. She's finally regained that freedom of movement and coordination that was inherent to her since her childhood years. Her inability to get 1's place was only due to a careless mistake of falling on her final jump of the program, the double axel, causing a loss of points which would have been pleny to secure the win. To recapitulate - i was pleased with all of my skaters."

Talking about the 3 Axel in the SP: "We are working on it. When Liza regains the 3A the order of [technical] elements will be revised."

From post #238 in the Team Alexei Mishin thread.

Yes, I did. I think it's the "If something is repeated often enough it becomes fact"-syndrome. It has been so often repeated that now many take it for granted that it is fact.

It's the comments like hers that make me sometimes doubt in ability of independent thinking of some... How would she explain Liza's dissapointing Olympic season then? I guess it's *** logic for her :disapp:

Yes, I listened to that awhile ago and was livid, but I didn't want to be the one to open that can of worms on here. It's bad enough that TSL keep pushing that ridiculous storyline, but Kori is a top coach and I expected more professionalism from her (in fact, I hate TSL, and she was the only reason I listened to that episode). There are so many things wrong with what she said and the way she said it - as if it were fact. Neither Kori nor TSL knows when and for how long she took meldonium, they don't know what other skaters might have taken it (Leonova said she took it sometimes...does it seem like it helped her???), they don't know what - if any - effect it had on her. Just disgusting. And not to get too off-topic, but isn't it funny how TSL doesn't even touch on the subject of some US athletes taking powerful drugs with TUEs? I mean, how is that any better? Liza didn't need any TUE because meldonium was not banned when she took it. She did nothing against the rules and I am sure meldonium is far less powerful (especially in a sport like skating) than certain other drugs that certain US champions have been allowed. Just saying.

Dave Lease is a hypocrite, because TSL's reporting of the TUE for Biles was biased. No critical contestation with the topic whatsoever. But I wouldn't hold it against Kori Ade, we don't know what's her point of view regarding TUE's / especially ritalin in competition. She could be totally against it but Lease didn't ask her about that. I think that TSL has used Kori Ade. And I wouldn't call him a hypocrite if he had either not asked that question or if he'd cut that question from the interview.
Back to Elizaveta - when the topic of meldonium came up she said that she also used it willingly, no one forced her to say that. I very much respect her for that. And everybody was allowed to take it at that point in time. It's nasty to still talk about it.

Sorry, I didn't mean that Kori should have talked about TUEs or Ritalin, just that TSL seems to have turned a blind eye to the fact that some US athletes legally dope, while constantly harping on Liza for months now. Granted, I rarely listen to the show any more unless someone halfway interesting is a guest, so I might have missed something. But I do follow them on FB and I saw no discussion about Simone & her TUEs. I know there is another thread for the doping debate, so I'm not trying to stir that up or say Simone did something wrong (she played by the rules also), it's just the hypocrisy that really drives me crazy. TSL and their guests should leave Liza's name out of their mouths if she hasn't ever failed any doping test, particularly if they are singling out her and only her. It's pathetic.

Many people, including Ade, fail to realize that Liza used meldonium in 2013. No s!!t Liza was cool talking about it. It wouldn't banned for 2 more years at that time! Some disappointing unprofessionalism from Kori.

I confess I too was really disappointed in that too. I absolutely love Kori but I thought those statements were unprofessional and uncalled for. And wrong!

You haven't. TSL only retweeted two tweets, one from Biles and one from USADA without commenting on the topic. And considering that they reported on artistic gymnastics constantly over the summer I would have expected them to keep a low profile on the whole allowed substances / TUE topic. But obviously Dave Lease has nothing better to do than to bash Elizaveta and also to involve Kori Ade into this. It's disgusting. He obviously doesn't like her very much and he likes Biles. I think he sees himself as some kind of journalist and because of that he should at least try to be impartial.

Anyway, I hope that Elizaveta isn't bothered too much about it. https://www.instagram.com/p/BLEpEOigvMx/?taken-by=liza_tuktik&hl=de

Full disclosure: I didn't watch this particular episode of TSL, but I've watched quite a few since meldonium entered the zeitgeist and they (along with Christine Brennan) never missed a beat when it came to linking her past LEGAL use of the drug with her successful 2015 season - and the absence of said drug with her subsequent 2016 season.

It's bogus, is what I'm saying.

Anyone with an internet connection can research Tuktamysheva's career and note that she's struggled with consistency, even as a junior. I'm not sure if I said it in this thread in the past, but when Liza was winning everything in 14-15, it's not like she was out there doing quads and bench-pressing the other two medalists. She built up momentum by skating well within her technical ability for 90% of the season (come on, 3T-3T!), saving the triple axel for her last four competitions - only one of which was a major international event.

It's bad enough that outlets like TSL openly delighted to see Tuktamysheva fail to back up a season that anyone would struggle to replicate, but continuing to go out on the thinnest of limbs in suggesting that said season was all thanks to a "magic" pill is really a special low.

It may sound odd, perhaps, but I am not at all depressed about what happened today. What I found encouraging is that Liza, to my eyes, never lost the performance. She never looked rattled to me. She just went right back into the program after one of the mistakes.

Obviously it would have been nicer if none of those had happened and she had had a better outing - and nabbed a medal at least. But my greatest concern is that she regain her sense of serenity, poise, confidence in herself and what she can do. If she has that, she can improve - if not, nothing will work for her.

And let me say that the more I see that dress, the more beautiful it looks to me.:) The material is lovely too. And I love her new hair ornament.

Better luck next time, Liza.:) You'll always be my Queen.:)

I agree, I actually really enjoyed her performance today! Haters gonna hate, you really can't let it get you down. I think she's actually doing pretty well for this early point in the season, there is no need for her to be perfect now.
