Emilea and Vadym finished 4th out of 31in the Short Dance, with a score of 84.21.
Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:
I had actually forgot that I had another set of kids still to skate! Just as well that I didn't leave at the last resurfacing like I had been thinking of doing.
Emilea and Vadym walk in slowly, holding hands and waving with their spare hand.
When they were focussed on, they were right in the thick of doing a section of their programme. And they were concentrating so much on what they were doing that they didn't notice when their names were announced, and so didn't break away and wave to the audience like they usually do.
The next time the camera went to them at the start of the last...
Here is what I wrote when they were being introduced:
Time for my last kids of the day.
ALL THE BEST EMILEA AND VADYM!!!

And here is what I wrote about their programme:
Thank goodness this is the last time I will have to listen to this music.
As always, the skating was sublime!
I don't know what else I can say that would do justice to how good they were.
Vadym having a bit of fun when they were coming off the ice.
They go into 2nd position.
Emilea is absolutely delighted!!! Vadym is pretty happy too!
New ISU PB for the SP. And not that far off their Absolute PB from Nationals.
WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!!

The first few posts from other members were a bit jumbled up.
The first came from our resident video archive list compiler,
@labgoat, who wished them the best before they skated, and then edited in her verdict afterwards:
Go Em & Vadym!
Very solid and clean skate. Less frenetic and more focused on getting the levels cleanly. Should score very well.
After their starting section,
@Mista Ekko commented:
It's like Emily was born for this explosive choreography style
@Arriba627 then wished them the best:
All the best to Emi and Vadym!!!!
@Mista Ekko then came back and observed:
Shpilband photobomb

When they finished, there were a few comments about the GOE's and TES. The first was from
@SnowWhite, who said:
Some huge GOEs for lower levels on the steps
To which
@4everchan replied:

telepathy since we co-adopted Joseph Phan is still strong between us
Because he had posted:
mmm very high GOEs.... I like them... just not as much as the judges do.
The next was from not-the-band
@cocteautwin, who commented:
TES looks good for them, even with pattern level 2, I think they are the ones judges want to push for the change of the guard and I totally get why
To which

I agree they are the new chosen ones.. and I am fine with that. They are good. However, judges could be a little bit more subtle about it.

If Ice Dance judges will ever be taken to task
they might feel the need to be more sublte
Ugh.... Figure skating
I have a feeling that
@yelyoh was a bit taken aback with the score:
Whereas
@4everchan was expecting it:
high GOES for lower levels CHECK
separation created below CHECK
judges at play. CHECK
My Norwegian friend,
@norwegianfairytale, was happy:
I´m really happy for Emily and Vadim, I really like this team

@labgoat came back to show approval of the scores:
Into second well clear of Smart/Dieck which is where I thought they would be.
Love that their scores keep going up meaning they have not yet peaked.
And to round off things,
@Arriba627 commented about Igor's gnashers:
Into 2nd. Nice job. Shpilband showing off his pearly whites.
Looking at the Protocols, there were no issues at all. The GOE ranged from +1.99 for the penultimate element, the Roller Lift, to +5.79 for the final element, the Choreographic Rhythm Sequence. These two elements were actually the lowest scoring elements of the programme, because they had the lowest Base Values. The first three elements had much higher Base Values that were very similar to each other, and very similar GOE's. All the Judges marks were in the +2 to +5 range.
Emilea and Vadym are currently 0.88 points behind 3rd position, Lilah FEAR / Lewis GIBSON (GBR), and 1.14 points ahead of 5th position, Evgeniia LOPAREVA / Geoffrey BRISSAUD (FRA). The three partnerships are the bottom three partnerships in a group of 4 partnerships covered by 3.38 points, which is headed by Piper GILLES / Paul POIRIER (CAN) in 2nd position, 2.24 points ahead of Emilea and Vadym.
Well, all things being equal, the destination of the

Gold Medal is already decided. But, any of the four partnerships could claim the remaining medals. So Emilea and Vadym will need to have a good Free Dance not just to try to move up onto as high a step as they can on the podium, but to try to prevent Zhenya and Geoff from overtaking them.
So, let's hope they have a good Free Dance and can move up.
WELL DONE!!!
