Now that the dust has settled on the fantastic result in the Autumn Classic, it is time to get back to business.

Firstly, Marilena is on the Provisional Entry List for the fifth round of the Challenger Series, the Asian Open Trophy in Beijing.

Yes, as in the Olympic Test Event.

I was surprised to find that there is actually due to be quite a large contingent of skaters travelling from America to the Asian Open. Indeed, Marilena will have four of her Skating Club Of Boston team-mates with her - Ashley Lin (CHN) and Gabriella Izzo (USA) in Ladies; Jimmy Ma (USA) in Men; and Audrey Lu (USA) in Pairs.

Emilea will be competing at the Nebelhorn Trophy this week, attempting to qualify Cyprus for a slot at the Olympics for the first time.

The Ladies SP kicks off today at 17:00:00 CEST (09:00:00 EDT / 15:00:00 GMT / 16:00:00 BST / 18:00:00 EEST). So 10 hours from now.

Emilea will be the 16th skater to start. So, first to go in Group 4.

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:09:30 CEST (11:09:30 EDT / 17:09:30 GMT / 18:09:30 BST / 20:09:30 EEST). So 11h 9m from now.

Emilea is due to start at 19:16:00 CEST (11:16:00 EDT / 17:16:00 GMT / 18:16:00 BST / 20:16:00 EEST). So 11h 16m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

With all the excitement that was happening last week, I never got the chance to post that the Provisional Entry Lists had been released for the last Junior Grand Prix, the Cup Of Austria, and there will be no Cypriot representation in Ladies after all.

Consequently, Stefania will have one Junior GP this season, and Ekaterina will have none. :disapp:

All because the French won't recognise vaccines that are not being used in France.

At this week's Junior Grand Prix, the Ljubljana Cup, Nikita will be making his first competitive appearance for Spain with his new Ice Dance partner, Sofía Val.

The Short Dance is not until tomorrow afternoon. So, I will post the details later on when I do my report about Emilea's Nebelhorn SP.

I can't remember if I posted about it in here or not, but I have created a separate thread for the partnership between Sofía and Nikita:

https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/threads/88896

So, I will be posting my reports about how they get on in their own thread. Just like I do with Angelina and Ilia when they have competitions.

Nebelhorn Trophy Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T56UqUlThI

Unfortunately for those that want to get the full experience, the music has been muted due to a copyright claim.

Emilea finished 11th out of 37 in the SP, with a score of 52.90.

Apart from a fall on the triple flip, it was a really impressive skate. Full of power and energy. And boys did she sell it!

I've thought this since I first saw Emilea last season, but I've never actually said it out loud on here. But after yesterday's performance, there is no longer any doubt. The style of skating and the way she presents it. It's pure Ashley Wagner.

Emilea skated just before half-way through the SP segment at #16, and immediately took a comfortable lead. Although she lost the lead only 2 skaters later, she stayed in the Top 4 until the last skater of the penultimate group. And then the last 7 saters all went ahead of her.

Although the final position looks disappointing, Emilea is actually only 9.12 points behind 3rd position. And only 4.26 behind 7th position. However, her problem is that she is in a very close group where 17.5 points covers 27 skaters, from 8th position down to 34th position. And when you have groups as large and as close as this, there can be a lot of movement in all directions. So, she has to put in a good FS to make sure that the direction she heads is up.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

The Ladies FS is not until tomorrow, starting in just over 27 hours from now. However, as it is a marathon 6 hours long, and Emilea is not skating until the penultimate group, I feel it would be better to wait until tomorrow morning to put up the details. Makes it simpler for working out how long it is until she is on.

As I previewed in yesterday's post, Nikita will be making his first competitive appearance for Spain with his new Ice Dance partner, Sofía Val, today at the Ljubljana Cup.

The Short Dance kicks off today at 15:00:000 CEST (13:00:00 GMT / 14:00:00 BST / 16:00:00 EEST / 16:00:00 MSK). So 8 hours from now.

They will be the 11th partnership to start. So, third partnership to go in Group 3 (and third partnership after the resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 16:14:10 CEST (14:14:10 GMT / 15:14:10 BST / 17:14:10 EEST / 17:14:10 MSK). So 9h 14m from now.

Sofía and Nikita are due to start at 16:32:20 CEST (14:32:20 GMT / 15:32:20 BST / 17:32:20 EEST / 17:32:20 MSK). So 9h 32m from now.

I know that him switching to her country means that, strictly speaking, this is off-topic. But Sofía and Nikita did a great job in the Short Dance at the Ljubljana Cup yesterday. They are curently lying in 6th position, ahead of this afternoon's Free Dance.

Not bad for a brand new partnership in their first international competition! ;)

A fuller SP report, and all the details about the Free Dance today, can be found in this post in their own separate Fan Fest thread:

Emilea will be doing her Free Skate at the Nebelhorn Trophy today.

The Ladies FS is due to start at 10:10:00 CEST (04:10:00 EDT / 08:10:00 GMT / 09:10:00 BST / 11:10:00 EEST). So 3 hours from now.

Emilea will be the 27th skater to start. So, second to go in Group 6.

The Group 6 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:10:30 CEST (08:10:30 EDT / 12:10:30 GMT / 13:10:30 BST / 15:10:30 EEST). So 8 hours from now.

Emilea is due to start at 14:24:40 CEST (08:24:40 EDT / 12:24:40 GMT / 13:24:40 BST / 15:24:40 EEST). So 8h 14m from now.

Apologies that I haven't posted about the Ladies FS at the Nebelhorn yet. I had been hoping to get it finished before the Ljubljana Cup started, but I had only got up to Group 3. (It really was a marathon of a segment).

UPDATE: I have now edited my FS report into this post.

Nebelhorn Trophy Ladies FS: Results; Protocols
Nebelhorn Trophy Ladies: Results

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUUdOqbF6v8

Please be aware that during the live broadcast, the stream buffered not long into Emilea's FS. As a result, there is a bit of a jump in resultant the videos. But, there wasn't much missed.

Emilea finished 9th out of 36 in the FS, with a score of 105.26. This meant that she climbed to 9th place overall, with a score of 158.16.

Unfortunately, it meant that she missed out on qualifying Cyprus for a Ladies slot at the Olympics. Officially, she needed to be 2 places higher but, realistically, she only needed to be 1 place higher. (The Swedish Olympic Committee have additional requirements that are totally pie in the sky. And since Josefin Taljegård did not meet these requirements, Sweden will in all probability be relinquishing their slot).

Niko Ulanovsky on commentary thought it was just beautiful. He liked everything about the programme. And I totally agree with him.

I admit that I find it hard to spot technical mistakes. The only thing that I saw was that she had a hand-down on landing one of her jumps. Apart from that, Emilea's FS looked faultless to me. However, there was a fundamental problem that I would never have spotted.

Looking at the Protocols from the Cranberry Cup FS, Emilea's second element was supposed to be a Triple Flip - Half Loop - Double Salchow combination. However, here in Oberstdorf, she did the Triple Flip on it's own. Unfortunately, she didn't attach the combination onto the Triple Flip that she did later in the programme. So, she got marked down for repeating an element.

And to add insult to injury, both Triple Flips were called for not having a clear edge.

I'm not sure whether these issues with the Triple Flips would have made any difference to her position (and, hence, qualifying for the Olympics). Emilea finished 6.44 points behind Lara Naki Gutmann of Italy in 8th, and 7.19 points behind Kailani Craine of Australia in 7th. Incidentally, Emilea finished 0.95 points ahead of Tzu-Han Ting of Taiwan in 10th, and 2.49 points ahead of Oona Ounasvuori of Finland in 11th.

All in all, I am happy with how Emilea got on in Oberstdorf. She comfortably beat her SP score and overall score from the Cranberry Cup. And she was a whisker away from matching her FS score.

Looking forward to seeing how the season progresses from here.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

As a slight off-topic, I want to tie up the remaining loose ends from last week by telling you that my Free Dance report about Sofía Val and Nikita Vitryanyuk at the Ljubljana Cup was put up yesterday in their own separate Fan Fest thread:

https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/posts/2803341

They will be in action again next week at the final Junior GP of the season, the Cup Of Austria.

Staying with Ice Dance, and Angelina and Ilia will be competing at this week's Junior Grand Prix, the Baltic Cup. However, since there are more than 24 hours until the Short Dance starts, I will wait until tomorrow morning to post the details.

I am really looking forward to whenever the time comes that we see Angelina & Ilia and Sofía & Nikita in the same competition. Both partnerships are so good!

It may be a month later than intended, but Stefania will finally be making her Junior GP debut today at the Baltic Cup.

The Ladies SP kicks off today at 11:00:00 CEST (09:00:00 GMT / 10:00:00 BST / 12:00:00 EEST / 12:00:00 MSK). So 4 hours from now.

Stefania will be the 24th skater to start. So, second to go in the final group, Group 5 (and second to go after the last resurfacing).

The Group 5 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:11:40 CEST (12:11:40 GMT / 13:11:40 BST / 15:11:40 EEST / 15:11:40 MSK). So 7h 11m from now.

Stefania is due to start at 14:24:20 CEST (12:24:20 GMT / 13:24:20 BST / 15:24:20 EEST / 15:24:20 MSK). So 7h 24m from now.

Oh, boys but there are a lot of competitions coming up for the skaters from Cyprus!

As I have already mentioned, Angelina and Ilia are competing at the Viktor Petrenko Cup in Odessa this week. But they don't start until Friday (it is the Advanced Novice skaters that are in action today and tomorrow).

Staying with Junior Ice Dance, and Sofía and Nikita will be competing at the Trophée Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur this week. However their campaign starts TODAY.

The Junior Short Dance starts in 3h 30 from now. More details in the following post in their separate Fan Fest thread:

https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/posts/2819269

I take it this means Nikita was given a vaccine that France approves of... ;)

:cheer: ALL THE BEST TO BOTH PARTNERSHIPS!!! :cheer:

Meanwhile in Singles skating, the Provisional Entry Lists for Austrian round of the Challenger Series in the second week of November have been announced. And Emilea and Marilena are both entered.

This will be the first time since the Cranberry Cup during the summer that they have been in the same competition.

The Senior Ladies, Senior Men and Senior Ice Dance competitions of the event have Challenger status, and are being run under the "Cup Of Austria" name (i.e. the name that is used for the Austrian round of the Junior GP Series :rolleye: ). The Senior Pairs competition does not have Challenger status, so it and the Junior level competitions and are being run under the normal "Ice Challenge" name.

The Provisional Entry Lists for the Ice Challenge have not been released yet. So, we don't know yet if any Junior skaters representing Cyprus will be joining their Senior team-mates in Graz. But, hopefully there will be.

I'm still annoyed that Ekaterina did not get the opportunity to compete in the Junior Grand Prix series this season, because Cyprus were not given a slot at the JGP Cup Of Austria to replace the one they lost in Courchevel due to the vaccine rules in France. So, it would be fitting if she were sent to this "Cup Of Austria".

We have now reached Day 3 of the Ice Challenge, which means that it is the day that the action starts for the Cypriot skaters.

The fact that I waited until Day 3 to post an update will already indicate to you that no Cypriot skaters were competing in Junior Ladies in Graz. However, the good news is that Stefania will be in action next week at the Tallinn Tropny in Estonia.

Getting back to Graz, and unfortunately Marilena has withdrawn. So, it will just be Emilea competing in Senior Ladies. However, we do still have two Cypriot skaters here, as Nikita will be competing in the Junior Ice Dance.

So, probably best to do the reminders in chronological order.

The Junior Short Dance is due to start at 10:15:00 CET (09:15:00 GMT / 12:15:00 EET / 11:15:00 MSK). So 8h 15m from now.

Sofía and Nikita will be the 6th partnership to start. So, third to go in Group 2 (and penultimate partnership to go before the resurfacing).

However, since there are no Time Schedules for this event, I have no idea what time they are due to start.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start at 18:30:00 CET (03:15:00 EST / 17:30:00 GMT / 19:30:00 EET). So 12 hours from now.

Emilea will be the 32nd skater to start. So, fourth to go in Group 6 (and fourth from last skater to go altogether).

No video uploaded yet 😞

Emilea finished 13th out of 34 in the SP, with a score of 50.02.

Well, this is going to be a pretty sparse discussion. Because I didn't watch the Senior Ladies SP LIVE last night, and when I got up this morning to watch Emilea, I found the stream had been removed.

Looking at the protocols, I see that Emilea swapped two of her jumps around compared to her previous events. Instead of doing the Double Axel as her first element and the Triple Flip as her fourth element, she is now doing the Flip first and the Axel fourth.

And I don't know if it is just coincidence, but these were the two elements that had issues last night. She singled out the Flip, and got a quarter call on the Double Axel. Both of which proved to be costly.

Emilea is currently 0.59 points behind 12th position, Ginevra Lavinia NEGRELLO (ITA), and 1.48 points ahead of 14th position, Linnea Sophie Kolstad KILSAND (NOR). She is right in the middle of a tight group of 26 skaters! shocked: 8 points higher takes her to 2nd place, while 8 points lower takes her to 28th place. So, anything can happen in the Free Skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 16:45:00 CET (10:45:00 EST / 15:45:00 GMT / 17:45:00 EET). So 9 hours from now.

Emilea will be the 22nd skater to start. So, sixth to go in Group 4 (and last to go before the final resurfacing).

However, since there are no Time Schedules for this event, I have no idea what time she is due to start.

Emiela finished 16th out of 34 in the FS, with a score of 94.65. This meant that she dropped to 16th place overall, with a score of 144.67.

I wasn't able to watch the Ladies FS LIVE. However, I did watch Emilea's programme within an hour of her doing it.

You know, maybe it is a good thing that an individual video has not been uploaded, because the commentary after Emilea came off the ice was cringe-worthy. Granted, Ryan did think the same thing as I did the first time I saw this programme - that she looked like a Greek goddess. However, he initially picked Athena, before realising that it should be Aphrodite. But, it was the spoof dating site advert that really had me cringing.

Anyway, as always with this programme, it was beautiful. Unfortunately, though, Emilea had a few obvious big mistakes on her jumps. At the start, she singled out her Axel. Later on, she had a very dodgy landing on her Triple Lutz, and then she fell on her Triple Flip. And when the field is as close as it was after the SP, things like these prove to be very costly.

On top of this, there was also a call for a Costume Violation. I have no idea what that was for. I didn't spot anything falling off her. Thankfully, only one of the judges voted for it, so she didn't get any deductions for whatever it was.

Emilea finished the FS 0.97 points behind Tomoe Kawabata (JPN) in 15th, and 3.49 points ahead of Eva-Lotte Kiibus (EST) in 17th. Overall, she finished 0.57 points behind Stefanie Pesendorfer (AUT) in 15th and 1.27 points ahead of Kiibus in 17th. Kiibus was actually at the bottom of the group. But, the top of the group was Kawabata in 9th, just 5.29 points ahead of Zingas. So, without those mistakes on the jumps, Emilea could potentially have got into the Top 10.

But, she doesn't have to wait long to have another go. Emiela is down to do back to back competitions, competing at the next Challenger event, the Warsaw Cup. And she is due to be joined by Marilena. The action starts on Thursday morning.

Emilea Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoRqbX8GkXg

Emilea finished 17th out of 29 in the SP, with a score of 50.30.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

You know, it's a pity that I can't identify jumps. Because I would like to be able to point out whether Emilea is using the same order that she used at the Ice Challenge last week, or whether she has gone back to the order she was using before that.

The skating today looked good to my untrained eye.

Unfortunately, the judges didn't agree. She goes into last place.

Oh, how I wish the livescoring was working. I'd like to know how far behind 3rd position she is. And I can't wind back the stream to check the graphic, because they have disabled the wind back facility.

But, Emilea has a brilliant Free Skate. So, hopefully she can climb up places with it. Over the past couple of seasons, she has had form in climbing up considerably with her Free Skates. ;)

CaroLiza_fan

Firstly, to answer my own questions, Emilea did keep the same jump order that she used last week in Austria. And she was 0.60 points behind the then-leader, Nathalie WEINZIERL (DEU).

As for this week, she did manage to do the Triple Flip-Double Toe combination. It looked great to me, but according to the protocols, there wasn't a clear edge on the Flip. So, there were a mixture of minuses and zeros from the judges. She didn't have a great landing on her next element, the Triple Lutz, having to resort to a hand down. So, that also produced a mixture of minuses and zeros. And I thought her final jump, the Axel, looked great. But, she actually singled it out, so she got nothing for it.

So, although I thought she only had problems with one jump, she actually had problems with them all.

There are two German skaters directly ahead of Emilea. She is still 0.60 behind Weinzierl, who is now in 16th, and 1.81 points behind Kristina ISAEV, who is in 15th. There is potential to move up some places. Ahead of Isaev, there is a 2 point gap to a group that stretches all the way up to Natasha MCKAY (GBR) in 10th position, who is 6.14 points ahead of Emilea.

Emilea is currently 1.95 points ahead of 18th position, Yelizaveta BABENKO (UKR) The problem is, nearly everybody behind Emilea is in a close group. The girl in penultimate position, Natalia LERKA (POL) is 9.10 points behind Emilea. It could go either way.

So, she will have to put in a good FS to make sure she goes the right direction.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

Marilena Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuflHdvoKRA

Marilena finished 12th out of 29 in the SP, with a score of 54.77.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Such a pit about the fall on the Lutz. Because the rest of it was just exquisite.

I don't know what else I can say. I just love everything about this programme.

9th? NINTH?!

No!

I know she had a fall, but it was better than that!

Even though I'm not a happy bunny with the scoring, Marilena and her coach seemed happy enough.

Now, time to move on and focus on the Free Skate, which I also absolutely love!

:cheer: WELL DONE MARILENA!!! :cheer:

After writing that, @katymay very kindly replied with the following:

She lost alot of levels on spins and StepSeq (2). Easy enough to punch up next time.

Looking at the protocols, Marilena only got one minus, and that was from Judge 7 for the Flying Sit Spin. But, katymay is right in that the judges were mostly giving her zeros, ones and twos for these things.

Marilena is currently the second skater in a very close group of 5 skaters. She is 1.67 points ahead of 10th position, Natasha MCKAY (GBR), and 0.79 points behind 11th position, Gabriella IZZO (USA). She is 0.45 points ahead of 13th position, Niki WORIES (NED), and 0.66 points ahead of 14th position, Alina URUSHADZE (GEO). But, this group is part of a larger group that stretches right the way down to penultimate position. It could go either way.

So, she too will have to put in a good FS to make sure she goes the right direction.

:cheer: WELL DONE MARILENA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 13:00:00 CET (07:00:00 EST / 12:00:00 GMT / 14:00:00 EET). So 6 hours from now.

Emilea will be the 13th skater to start. So, second skater to go in Group 3 (and second skater to go after the first resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 14:45:00 CET (08:45:00 EST / 13:45:00 GMT / 15:45:00 EET). So 7h 45m from now.

Emilea is due to start at 14:58:30 CET (08:58:30 EST / 13:58:30 GMT / 15:58:30 EET). So 7h 58m from now.

Marilena will be the 18th skater to start. So, first skater to go in Group 4.

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 15:33:30 CET (09:33:30 EST / 14:33:30 GMT / 16:33:30 EET). So 8h 33m from now.

Marilena is due to start at 15:40:00 CET (09:40:00 EST / 14:40:00 GMT / 16:40:00 EET). So 8h 40m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Emilea Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9FD1dewsRE

Emilea finished 13th out of 29 in the FS, with a score of 101.87. This meant that she climbed to 14th place overall, with a score of 152.17.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

Mmmm. What can I say?

There were a few very obvious mistakes. And two of them on the one element! In the combination with three parts early on in the programme, she had a stumble before the Half Loop AND after it. Then later on, she had a hand down on one of her individual jumps and shortly afterwards on one of her combination jumps.

But the rest of it was just beautiful.

She goes into 2nd in the FS, but hangs onto the overall lead.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

Looking at the protocols, she was actually only called on one of the stumbles I was talking about in the Triple Flip-Half Loop-Double Salchow combination. The one before the Half Loop. And I got the two times she had a hand down the wrong way around. The first was on the Triple Lutz-Double Toe combination, and the second was on the Triple Flip.

It was funny when they came back from the highlights. We had a bit of musical chairs! There were 4 chairs, and Emilea and her coach were sitting on the two chairs on their left / our right. When they saw they were on air, Emilea did a double wave, and her coach waved with his left hand. But, because of where they were sitting, the coach 's arm was outside the camera shot. So, they both got up and moved to the middle 2 chairs, so as to be centre screen.

I was expecting them to wave again, but they didn't. What they did do was laugh and joke with each other. Which was refreshing to see.

Emilea really is the expert when it comes to coming back in the Free Skate after being down the order in the Short Programme.

Emilea finished the Free Skate sandwiched between two Skating Club Of Boston skaters. She was 0.48 points behind 12th position, Marilena KITROMILIS (CYP), and 1.65 ahead of 14th position, Gabriella IZZO (USA). Izzo was actually at the back of a close group of 5 skaters covered by 3.56 points, which stretched up to Natasha MCKAY (GBR) in 10th position, who was 1.91 points ahead of Emilea.

Emilea and Gabriella also occupied the same positions in the overall results, but the other way around. Emilea finished 3.61 points behind 13th position, Gabriella, and 2.37 points ahead of 15th position, Kristina SHKULETA-GROMOVA (EST).

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA!!! :cheer:

Marilena Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv-wXdqp9AI

Marilena finished 12th out of 29 in the FS, with a score of 102.35. This meant that she remained in 12th place overall, with a score of 157.12.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread at the time:

GAAAH!!!! The stream started buffering in the middle of Marilena!!!!

Not the best of skates from Marilena today, unfortunately.

When things are so close around her, the two falls and the other mistakes are going to be costly.

And she doesn't even have anybody to comfort her, because Gabriella Izzo is also from the Skating Club Of Boston and the coach is with her. 😞

Nevertheless, Marilena goes into 3rd in the FS, and 2nd overall.

A lot better than I thought it would be. I'm delighted!

:cheer: WELL DONE MARILENA!!! :cheer:

For the second of this week's Team Cyprus birthdays, we have Emilea Zingas.

:cheer: HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY EMILEA!!! :cheer:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I hope she is having a really enjoyable day, and that the coming year is a good one for her, both on and off the ice.

And I also hope that her twenties turn out to be even better than her teenage years!

It's been a while since we saw Emilea in action (the Warsaw Cup, back in November), but hopefully we'll get to see her soon in some of the summer competitions in America. I can't wait to see what programmes she comes out with for the coming season.

Anyway, all the best for the year ahead!

There has been a major development since I posted about it being Ekaterina's birthday yesterday. And it may actually turn out to be relevant to her.

Last month, Emilea started a fundraiser to help the family of her Ukrainian friend and club-mate, the Ice Dancer Vadym Kolesnik. Vadym has been representing America since 2016, partnering Avonley Nguyễn from then until 2020. In their final competition together, they became Junior World Champions. Since splitting, Avonley has found a new partner, but Vadym had not.

Well, yesterday Emilea announced that she would be switching to Ice Dance to become Vadym's new partner. Unfortunately, it looks like they will represent America. 😞

There is a whole conversation about it in the Splits & Partner Changes thread, starting with the following post:

https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/posts/2981436

As I said over in that thread, I am sad that Emilea will no longer be competing in Singles skating for Cyprus. But, I am looking forward to seeing her and Vadym.

With Emilea no longer competing in Singles skating, it could lead to some shuffling around of the skaters. Ekaterina Luneva will probably do the Junior GP Series, but after that we might see her starting to do some Senior competitions.

I would have suggested that Sofia Lapshyna could have moved up to Juniors to provide some competition to club-mate Stefania Yakovleva once Katya moves up to Seniors. However, you have to be 13 on 1st July to be eligible for Juniors, and Sofia doesn't turn 13 until September. So, she is officially too young to compete in Juniors this coming season.

I don't know if there is anybody else that might join Stefania in Juniors. The last time we saw the Afxentiou sisters was at the Sofia Trophy in February 2020, so I don't know if they are still competing. At that competition, Christiana was competing at Junior level (her first Junior competition), while Maria-Nelly was competing at Basic Novice level. But, that was over 2 years ago. They might both be age-eligible now. I know Christiana turns 16 in September, but I don't actually know what age Maria-Nelly is. She came through the ranks with Sofia, so she is probably a similar age. It's just a question of when exactly her 13th birthday is.

Whatever happens, I wish the skaters that do compete this coming season all the best!

Just a wee note to let you know that, while checking for updates to put into the Fan Fest posts earlier, I found a series of videos that were uploaded by Keiffer Hubbell (as in Madison's brother / former partner) during the past couple of weeks of Emilea doing some pattern dances.

Since I haven't finished writing the new Ice Dance thread for Emilea and Vadym yet, I'll post the links to these videos now in this thread, so that you don't have to wait until the new thread is posted to see them.

The first 4 videos (uploaded 2 weeks ago) are with Kieffer.

European Waltz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoTSQOBqFB8
Foxtrot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=netTBSAik74
American Waltz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EGUyNnIOhw

The fifth video (uploaded on Thursday) is with Vadym.

Looking good!

Quick note: she is skating with Vadym on the Rocker video.

Thank you for spotting that and pointing it out.

That video was uploaded more recently than the others, so I actually just thought that Kieffer had changed his hairstyle in the intervening 2 weeks. :p

It's well seeing it's been a while since I saw Vadym. :rolleye:

Sorry for the mistake. I'll edit my post to make it clear that the final video is with Vadym.

Thank you again for the correction.

:thank:
