I just got back from seeing this movie and I must say that it was surprisingly touching. It is frantic at times and really requires all of your attention, but what else is to be expected from Kaufman? Jim Carrey gives what I think is his best performance by far, and Winslet is spectacular (as always). I would highly recommend this film.

I saw it on Saturday myself, after reading a good review about it in RollingStone, and I would second that the movie is phenomenal. It's so nice to see Jim Carrey really deliver a convincing serious role and Kate Winslet does an amazing job, arguably the best of the movie (she is so gorgeous! ). ITA that it is a weird and confusing movie that goes back and forth between past and present (it reminded me of having to read Toni Morrison's Beloved, LOL). I would recommend that movie to anyone.


BTW, if any of you do go and see it, either for the first or second time, look carefully at the scene where Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo are lying on the bed w/ Jim Carrey looking up at the ceiling and smoking the same cigarette. There must be something it Dunst's contract against smoking, because hers isn't lit! LOL
