I thought I would start on the top five of each discipline for the forthcoming European Championships to be held at the end of January. I know there are a few national championships to be resolved but here are my predictions.

Leading Competitors are:

Pairs

Savchenko/Szolkowy
Mukhortova/Trankov
Kawaguchi/Smirnov
Bazarova/Larionov
Volosozhar/Morozov

Mens

Brian Joubert
Tomas Verner
Stephane Lambiel
Alban Preaubert
Kevin Van Der Perren

Dance

Domnina/Shabalin
Delobel/Schoenfelder
Khokholova/Novitski
Faiella/Scali
Pechalat/Bourzat

Ladies

Carolina Kostner
Sarah Meier
Kiira Korpi
Laura Lepisto
Jenni Vahamaa

Bazarova/larionov are not eligeble for euros because they are too young.

Domnina/Shabalin are not coming, so gold is ready for Delobel/Schoenfelder, and podium open for italians :agree:

The only competitive part of EC is men. The title will go to either Joubert or Lambiel. Everything else is pretty much decided.

I reckon Samuel Contesti (Former Frenchie) could spring a surprise and Medal for Italy- top 6 anyway!

I'll heat my hat if Glebova isn't top 6 in the ladies......The standard in the ladies event is actually depressing! :fragile:

I hope someone like Gedevanishvilli gets her **** together. I'd hate a medal to go toa three triple performance!

There's a good Spanish girl....not sure if she's eligable for seniors, and there is an up and coming german girl, again...we'll probably have to wait till 09 to see her!

My top 10 for the ladies event consists of

Kostner
Vahamaa
Korpi
Meier
Glebova
Lepisto
Sebesteyen
Gedevanishvili
McCorkell
Pavuk

With the usual suspects of Pavuk, Karedemir, Hegel and Possibly Ievleva battling for the 10th spot!

I hope Kristin WIECZOREK and Movchan have made improvements as both have great talents!

I hope that Gedevanishvili takes advantage of the weak field and medals. But unfortunately she's too inconsistent.

Glebova is injured; she did not compete at Estonian Nationals. Hopefully she will be at Euros, though. She's been skating very well this year, especially in the SP.

yeah i agree the Ladies' field is almost depressing, although Carolina Kostner can hopefully defent, i like her and she's a good skater with great abilities, i think that other than her its pretty much a depressing field yes. I wish that Elene Gedevanishvili would get her act together the way she was at the JGP circuit the year of the Olympics and how she was in her olympic short program being in fifth after. If she did do that then i think that would be the first medal for Georgia ever at a European championship, correct me if i'm wrong. I wish also that Julia Sebestyen would go back to the way she was the season she won her European Title.

Well Croatian skaters such as Idora Hegel i hope at least get top ten spots to show for the fact that their in their home country and its capital of Zagreb.

I hope that the Italian do make the podium at Euros and that Delobel and Shoenfelder repeat as the champions and that Carolina Kostner does repeat, i'll be mad if she doesn't cuz i think its pretty much destined for her cuz the other ladies field is prety much weak.

Samuel Contesti just managed to be italian champion some weeks ago but cannot compete as italian at Europeans in january2008 as his last competition for France was in 2005 at the Bompard.
So Paolo Bacchini (3rd at nationals) and Karel Zelenka (2nd) are going.

I am really looking forward to the Men's competition, if Voronov is really back to form - we have about 6 guys who consistently land Quads and 4 to 5 of them also have a good presentation. So my guess for the men would be

1. Joubert
2. Verner
3. Voronov
4. Lambiel
5. Van der Perren
6. Préaubert

Ladies and Pairs is boring, I'd rather not talk about them.
