Since I watched live, I still don't understand how 3 soviet (or ex soviet) teams go ahead of cappellini lanotte: just scandalous! Since when the zaretski's have become so strong? (i have the answer: just put under your coach's name Morozov)
and the Ukrainians and Lithuanians?
My explanation is that the judges got mad because The French went ahead of Dom Shabs....and decided to kill the western competition left for lower standards teams...Since when are those Italians inferior? especially after skating really clean...well, well, well

Most of the skaters made new season's bests, and many made new personal bests; I think the judges were in a generous mood. Though the real noteworthy incident of the evening came from Grebekina and Azrojan. Halfway through their polka she slipped and fell hard on her back. She didn't get up at first, and then limped off hunched over, clutching at the small of her back, but apparently there turned out to be more pain than actual damage, because then she came back on and they were able to resume and finish. I'm not sure if it only took two minutes(it felt like longer!) or if the referee didn't start the clock.

Well i don't agree i think if Domnina and Shabalin score 40.25 then Isabelle/Oliver should have had a score 0f 44 +
on the night the French where on a different league and i am not sure i would have place Domnina / Shabalin second based on todays skate

Some folks watching the CDs felt DomShabs skated slower than usual (but of course, they got a higher score at Euros for the same dance that they did at CoR---40.25 vs. 40.04).

They said during DelShoes' CD, RTR Sport commentator Elena Buriak was complaining that DelShoes should get a costume deduction (Olivier was wearing a Western outfit complete with chaps over his pants, and Isabel was dressed as a saloon gal). I guess she must have recognized that they were outskating DomShabs!

Well I never said the marks Dom/Shab were deserved (and it won't be the first time that they are overscored). I would go even further - I think that most of the time Del/Shoe are class above the russians, but a score 44+??? - I haven't saw Isabelle and Oliver flaying above the ice...

1. Zaretski's have been steadily improving with each season. Besides, I think training with Linichuk they learned to do very nice compulsories. Let's see how OD and FD goes.
2. Since when are Lithuanian skaters judges' darlings? If memory serves, when Drobiazko and Vanagas were eligible, boards were always full of conspiracy stories of why they always got marks far lower than they deserved (many of those conspiracy theories actually made sense).

I always felt that Drobiazko and Vanagas were undermarked when they skated.

I saw the Zaretski's live at Skate America and I have to say I was pretty impressed by them.

may be true that lithuanian are not judges darling. but Cappellini/la Notte performance was clean , fast, good edges..I can't explain that score. I hope their OD (which is one of the most excting program in the season for me) will be good executed and better judged.

hmmmm the russians.....
gretel meets bond?....oh i guess that multi colored bandana/scarf on maxim brings the theme up...

i completely agree...:agree:

I thought Delobel/Shoenfelder were in a class of their own:rock:.They looked and skated like champions.I'd have had K/N in second place .Domnina/Shabalin looked slow and a bit laboured in parts.

Certainly the British Eurosport commentators thought DomShabs looked labored and credited it to the problems of being as tall as DomShabs are--however, when they skated the Yankee polka at COR, they weren't any shorter than they are now

I was somewhat amused that DelSchoes and the Kerrs decided "Yankee" = "Wild West". I suspect if US skaters did that, people would be saying how classless and hokey that was. However, I loved both programs and think the Delschoes more than deserved their scores

I'll be honest; I haven't liked Dom/Shab since the Olympics. I had been impressed with them that season and thought once again, the Russians have a team for the future podiums. Yet last season and this season as well I haven't seen the same elegance-it's all flailing arms and knees.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't think they deserved 2nd place in the CD. Khoklova and Novitski should have been 2nd instead, they're much more graceful on the ice.
I was also surprised that Cappellini/Lanotte were in 10th! I thought they deserved higher marks, as did the Kerrs.
