While waiting for US & CAN Nationals, I was watching an old event that pulled me down a rabbit hole.
2003-2004 Skate Canada Ice Dance Event

Features a Shpilband/Zoueva team Wing/Lowe, an Israeli team coached by Tarasova, the home team Dubreuil/Lauzon, a Zhulin team of Navka/Kostomarov and the Bulgarian team of Denkova/Staviski (note how close in height they are) in an event where the technical specialist was Sergei Ponomarenko. Tracey Wilson gives very insightful commentary on these teams as fans begin to learn how the new scoring system works. I was utterly fascinated how much the dance event had already progressed under the new system and how the dances could be sorted.
Enjoy and leave your comments as you watch some of the relevant coaches and choreographers of today compete during their hey day. If you can only watch part of the event, watch the free dance.
